Background: The success of basic life support is determined by the role of the individual(s) who first encountered a patient with a heart attack, and he will be a helper in the situation. Lack of socialization and training for laypeople makes them unable to implement a right first aid in cases of cardiac arrest. There is a need for innovations in cardiac, pulmonary resuscitation for ordinary people to facilitate them in practicing compression measures.Technique: CPR mannequin is made of a plywood material in the shape of the human body; it is 34 cm long, 34 cm wide, and 6.5 cm high. There are 2 LED lights to detect the accuracy of the compression depth. Conclusion: CPR mannequin can facilitate and improve the skills of laypeople in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Introduction: Lack of resuscitation skills of nurses in basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) has been identified as a contributing factor to poor outcomes of cardiac arrest victims. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of education intervention programme to improve the knowledge of, and thereby the quality of Emergency service; especially in the area of Basic Life Support, Advance Life Support and Triage system.Method: Pre-experimental research design was used to conduct the study among the nurses working in Emergency units of B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences where CPR is very commonly performed. Using convenient sampling technique, a total of 24 nurses agreed to participate and to give consent were included in the study. The theoretical, demonstration and re-demonstration sessions were arranged, involving the trained doctors and nurses during the three hours educational programme. Post-test was carried out after education intervention programme. The 2010 BLS and ALS guidelines were used as guide for the study contents. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS-15 software.Result: It was found that there is significant increase in knowledge after education intervention in the components of life support measures (BLS/ALS) i.e. ratio of chest compression to ventilation in BLS (P= 0.001), correct sequence of CPR (p< 0.001), rate of chest compression in ALS (P= 0.001), the depth of chest compression in adult CPR (p< 0.001), and position of chest compression in CPR (P= 0.016). The participating nurses well appreciated the programme and requested to continue in future for all the nurses. Conclusion: The workshop certainly improves the knowledge of the working nurses, and thereby the quality of Emergency service; especially in the areas of Basic Life Support, Advance Life Support and Triage System.Journal of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Vol. 1, No. 1, 2018, page: 14-19

This year, from July to November, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department from “Bucur” Maternity “Saint John” Hospital, Bucharest conducted the POSDRU grant “Obstetrics and Gynecology Practice and Professional Counseling for Medical Students”. The project had the financial support of both the European Social Fund and the Sectorial Operational Program for Human Resources Development 2007-2013, priority axis 2.The main objective of the Grant was to support students from University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest in the transition and integration from study to real professional life. More than 160 students of the 2nd to 5th year of university were included in the project. Each student had the opportunity attend the practice for a period of 3 weeks, 6 hours per day, similar to a normal working day of a doctor. The core of the activity was real, medical practice. The students had the occasion to practice gynecological and surgical everyday gestures such as knots and sutures, to attend in the operating room during gynecological interventions or caesarian sections, but also to be involved in attending vaginal deliveries or performing obstetrics ultrasound by themselves. During that period the students spent 2 weeks of activity in “Bucur” Maternity and one week in the Medical Simulating Center “LifeSiM”. In this specialized center they had the opportunity to practice laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, knots and sutures, basic life support maneuvers and vaginal birth assistance on medical models. The originality of the program was that the physicians who trained the students had no universitary activity in their current life. They were enthusiast young specialists or residents in obstetrics . In this way the students felt closeer to their instructors and integrated easyly in the hospital life. Being trainers, the physicians experienced that challenge and had good result in teaching the students that was an aspect observed from final students feed-back.Why was the project so important? Our practice program is unique because it is the first one who developed such activity in obstetric filed in a simulating center. Moreover, we offered also professional carrier counseling to the students and the most emotional involvement that we could. We considered each student as a less experienced colleague and we tried to explain everything the best we could. The bound created during the program with some of them lead to volunteering for some of them who continued to come in our hospital.

Abstract: Since COVID-19 was first discovered in Wuhan, it has caused COVID-19 referral hospitals to be "overwhelmed" including in Indonesia. In patients with confirmed COVID-19 or in patients with suspected COVID-19, the Basic Life Support (BHD) does not need to be postponed. However, there are some principles that must be adapted to keep patients and caregivers safe. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge and insight of participants in general regarding emergency management during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method in implementing community service activities is divided into several stages, namely first conducting socialization, conducting webinars, followed by FGD. The result of this activity is that there is an increase in BHD knowledge among emergency room nurses before and after participating in the training. The provision of online BHD knowledge and training has proven to be effective in increasing the knowledge of emergency room nurses
