This paper is based on a survey conducted on top management’s benchmarking understanding, awareness and barriers in the Malaysian oil palm industry. The two main objectives of this paper are: firstly, to investigate the level of understanding and knowledge; secondly, to identify the barriers that could hinder and disrupt the benchmarking implementation in the Malaysian oil palm industry. A survey questionnaire tested for reliability and validated by experts and practitioners was developed and distributed through postal mail and email to 700 respondents involved in the oil palm industry.  Survey results revealed that 77.9% of them are still in the moderate category, 8.1% in the low category and only 14% have good benchmarking understanding and knowledge. Survey results also showed that the three main barriers faced during the benchmarking implementation are due to: lack of understanding on the benchmarking knowledge, lack of clarity with regard to specific areas to be benchmarked and top management culture

As the basis of 1:10000 color aerial remote sensing image of Ulan Buh Desert, Inner Mongolia, this paper studies on white thorn which is a typical representative of the nature of scarcity and mass organizations like the vegetation in the desert region. By using mathematical morphology theory and the Matlab 7.0 software, the white thorn will be conducted from the remote sensing image segmentation. Comparing the conducted image with the outer shape of the industry survey results, the accuracy of segmentation could be verified by the gray-level co-occurrence matrix comparisons. This research provides the technical reference for the large sample survey of desert region by remote sensing image segmentation.

This chapter presents the revised EIIO model from the industry survey results. This includes analyzing the structure paths and validation of the final EIIO model. Use of inputs, meeting process, and review performance describes in the final section of the chapter. The chapter also proposes a simple guide for conducting software reviews, which includes: 1) identifying the characteristics of the software artefact, 2) decision of which supporting documents (reports and previously reviewed software documents) to use and reviewers’ experience required which are determined by software artefact characteristics, 3) selection of reviewers should be based on their role (review) experience and working experience in the software industry, and how they perceive company support and encouragement, and their acceptance levels of the company that is organising and conducting the software review; and 4) In the review meeting process, the most critical factor is teamwork which can be affected by the characteristics of the software artefact, use of previously reviewed software documents and reports, and perceived contingency (motivation).
