Subject. Acquired edentulism has different causes and always comes with psychosomatic disturbances in patients. Patients with acquired edentulism of varying duration aim to improve the quality of life and it results in extensive use of dental implants for partial and total tooth loss treatment. Anatomic features arising as a result of tooth loss and restitutional requirements to attachment of an implant to bone tissue bring about necessity of accurate planning and surgical positioning of dental implants. Relevance. The article presents data on psychological preparation of patients for planning and placing implants, technologies of surgical template application for dental implant positioning, results of the dental service package. Objective. The article aims to show the importance of psychological preparation before using surgical templates for rational placing dental implants and preventing potential errors and complications when rendering a dental service package. Methodology. The study employed an observation method, questionnaire survey, and introspection of a number of mental and psychophysiological functions of medical staff and patients, psychophysiological state of patients in the process of receiving multidimensional dental care. Results. Conducting well-timed psychotherapeutic work with a surgeon dentist, a prosthodontist, and a patient, using contemporary local anesthetics, equipment, and dental materials provide successful multidimensional treatment of acquired edentulism under municipal clinic conditions. Conclusions. The material presented here shows the necessity of using surgical templates when delivering multidimensional dental treatment to patients with acquired edentulism, as well as the importance of psychological prevention of occupational stress among dental practitioners.

The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate how dental implant positioning can influence the masticatory stress distribution over screwed mandibular prosthodontics restoration and over the surrounding bone tissue. Moreover, the dental implant components and overdenture bar strengths under masticatory cycles have been investigated in order to evaluate possible screw and prosthesis breakage. A “virtual jaw” model and 3D dental implant were reproduced to realise finite element analysis in order to underline the parameters and the mechanical characteristics of the bone and of the dental implants connected to the overdenture bar. The distribution of a nonspecific chewing phase, analysing the overall load on the fixtures of the lower jaw, was performed. The study investigating frontal and horizontal planes and vertical directions of occlusal forces showed how position and perspective of fixtures strongly influenced the stress distribution and the consequent jawbone tissue remodelling. Prostheses elements such as cantilever, passing screws, and dental implants are strictly related to the correct selection of dental implant position. This study suggested a virtual method to guide the surgeon in the choice of implant number, position, diameter, and length, and cantilever length and shape, and to evaluate the prospective stress distribution of chewing strengths for a correct prosthesis rehabilitation.

Periodontal defects and trauma at the anterior maxillary region can cause a severe alveolar ridge deficiency resulting in an unesthetic view. Ideal implant positioning can be compromised by inadequate alveolar bone in terms of height and width. Reconstruction of osseous defects with autogenous bone allows ideal implant positioning and creates a more natural soft and hard tissue profile, which influences esthetic crown anatomy at the anterior maxillary region. In this case report, an alveolar ridge defect due to periodontally compromised tooth extraction was filled with autogenous bone cylinder and dental implant at one-stage surgery. In the presented case, a new technique was described which included bone reconstruction of the defects at the anterior maxillary region and simultaneous placement of the dental implant.
