The authors describe a software suite for determining tilt degrees of tower-type structures according to ground laser scanning indication. Defining the tilt of the pipe is carried out with a set of measured data through approximating the sections by circumferences. They are constructed using one of the simplest search engine optimization methods (evolutionary algorithm). Automatic filtering the scan of the current section from distorting data is performed by the method of assessing the quality of models constructed with that of least squares. The software was designed using Visual Basic for Applications. It contains several blocks (subprograms), with each of them performing a specific task. The developed complex enables obtaining operational data on the current state of the object with minimal user participation in the calculation process. The software suite is the result of practical implementing theoretical developments on the possibilities of using search methods at solving optimization problems in geodetic practice.

Reverse Phase Protein Arrays (RPPA) is a high-throughput technology used to profile levels of protein expression. Handling the large datasets generated by RPPA can be facilitated by appropriate software tools. Here, we describe RPPAware, a free and intuitive software suite that was developed specifically for analysis and visualization of RPPA data. RPPAware is a portable tool that requires no installation and was built using Java. Many modules of the tool invoke R to utilize the statistical features. To demonstrate the utility of RPPAware, data generated from screening brain regions of a mouse model of Down syndrome with 62 antibodies were used as a case study. The ease of use and efficiency of RPPAware can accelerate data analysis to facilitate biological discovery. RPPAware 1.0 is freely available under GNU General Public License from the project website at http://downsyndrome.ucdenver.edu/iddrc/rppaware/home.htm along with a full documentation of the tool.

Abstract Single-step GBLUP (ssGBLUP) relies on the combination of genomic (G) and pedigree relationships for all (A) and genotyped animals (A22). The procedure implemented in the BLUPF90 software suite first involves combining a small percentage of A22 into G (blending) to avoid singularity problems, then an adjustment to account for the fact the genetic base in G and A22 is different (tuning). However, blending before tuning may not reflect the actual difference between pedigree and genomic base because the blended matrix already contains a portion of A22. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of tuning before blending on predictivity, bias, and inflation of GEBV, indirect predictions (IP), and SNP effects from ssGBLUP using American Angus and US Holstein data. We used four different scenarios to obtain genomic predictions: BlendFirst_TunedG2, TuneFirst_TunedG2, BlendFirst_TunedG4, and TuneFirst_TunedG4. TunedG2 adjusts mean diagonals and off-diagonals of G to be similar to the ones in A22, whereas TunedG4 adjusts based on the fixation index. Over 6 million growth records were available for Angus and 5.9 million udder depth records for Holsteins. Genomic information was available on 51,478 Angus and 105,116 Holstein animals. Predictivity and reliability were obtained for 19,056 and 1,711 validation Angus and Holsteins, respectively. We observed the same predictivity and reliability for GEBV or IP in all four scenarios, ranging from 0.47 to 0.60 for Angus and was 0.67 for Holsteins. Slightly less bias was observed when tuning was done before blending. Correlation of SNP effects between scenarios was > 0.99. Refined tuning before blending had no impact on GEBV and marginally reduced the bias. This option will be implemented in the BLUPF90 software suite.

<p>The U.S. National Geodetic Survey (NGS) has historically processed dual-frequency GPS observations in a double-differenced mode using the legacy software called the Program for the Adjustment of GPS Ephemerides (PAGES). As part of NGS’ modernization efforts, a new software suite named M-PAGES (i.e., Multi-GNSS PAGES) is being developed to replace PAGES. M-PAGES consists of a suite of C++ and Python libraries, programs, and scripts built to process observations from all GNSS constellations. The M-PAGES team has developed a single-difference baseline processing strategy that is suitable for multi-GNSS. This approach avoids the difficulty of forming double-differences across systems or frequencies, which may inhibit integer ambiguity resolution. The M-PAGES suite is expected to deploy to NGS’ Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) later this year. Here, we present the processing strategy being implemented along with a performance evaluation from sample baseline solutions obtained from data collected within the NOAA CORS Network.</p>
