CDC Falcon is a high-yielding, lodging-resistant, semidwarf winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with good winter hardiness and excellent stem and leaf rust resistance. CDC Falcon is the first winter wheat cultivar with a high level of leaf and stem rust resistance to be registered for production in western Canada. It is especially well adapted to the high-moisture and rust-hazard regions of the western Canadian prairies. CDC Falcon is eligible for grades of the Canada Western Red Winter Wheat class. CDC Buteo is a hard red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar that is eligible for grades of the Canada Western Red Winter Wheat class. It is an intermediate height cultivar with moderate stem and leaf rust resistance and good winter hardiness and grain yield potential. It is adapted to the western Canadian prairies where its agronomic and disease package combined with an excellent grain quality profile has resulted in wide commercial acceptance in Saskatchewan. AC Cora, hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivumL.), exhibited high levels of leaf rust resistance and was adapted to the southern Canadian prairies. AC Cora produced significantly more grain yield than Neepawa (6.8%), Columbus (6.5%) and Roblin (7.4%), and slightly more (3.0%) than Katepwa. It matured significantly earlier than Columbus, slightly earlier than Neepawa and Katepwa and slightly later than Roblin. AC Cora was similar in plant height and lodging resistance to Katepwa. CDC Harrier is the first winter wheat cultivar with a high level of stem rust resistance to be registered for production in western Canada. The grain quality characteristics of CDC Harrier are similar to thos of CDC Kestrel. CDC Harrier is eligible for grades of the Canada Western Red Winter Wheat class. Fowler, D. B. 2012. Moats hard red winter wheat. Can. J. Plant Sci. 92: 191–193. Moats is a hard red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) that is eligible for grades of the Canada Western Red Winter (CWRW) wheat class. It has excellent stem and leaf rust resistance and higher grain yield and protein concentration than the Central Winter Wheat Cooperative Registration Trial CWRW grain quality check cultivar, CDC Buteo. Its grain yield is similar to the high-yielding Registration Trial check cultivar, CDC Falcon, and lower than Accipiter, which is a more recent high-yielding winter wheat cultivar released in the Canada Western General Purpose wheat class. A suitable combination of grain quality, rust resistance and yield make Moats widely adapted in the winter wheat production area of western Canada.

CDC Osprey is a high-yielding, lodging-resistant, semidwarf winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with good winterhardiness. CDC Osprey has excellent grain quality. It has a grain protein concentration that is similar to Norstar combined with the superior agronomic performance of CDC Kestrel in Alberta and Saskatchewan. However, more susceptible rust reactions and lower grain yields than CDC Kestrel may limit the production of CDC Osprey in southeastern Manitoba.
