◽
Colorimetric soil pH measurements made systematically across Burnaby Mountain in well-drained loamy soils of the rainforest of British Columbia over an 8-yr period from 1974 until 1981 showed that acidification of the subsoil increased after two consecutive drier-than-average years. This changing acidity contrasted with the relatively stable acidity of the subsoil in imperfectly drained soils, regardless of changing patterns of precipitation.
