THE EFFECT OF PHOSPHATE FERTILIZER ON THE SALT TOLERANCE OF BARLEY GROWN ON SUMMERFALLOWED LAND

The effect of fertilizer P on the salt tolerance of barley grown on previously summerfallowed land was studied under dryland field conditions. Linear regression equations showed that the yield response to added fertilizer P did not change significantly over the full range of salinity levels experienced. Linear regression equations using mean soil salinity levels to a 60-cm depth equal to or greater than 6 mS∙cm−1 appeared to describe the yield function of barley more realistically than did equations using the entire range of salinity levels. Both fertilized and unfertilized barley yields were not affected by salinity until a level of 4 mS∙cm−1 had been reached. Beyond this point yields were reduced by approximately 9–10% per unit increase in salinity. It was concluded that added fertilizer P did not improve the salt tolerance of barley grown under dryland conditions in Saskatchewan. Key words: Salinity, barley, P fertilizer, salt tolerance, yield

SummaryResults of two groups of experiments testing phosphate fertilizer for sugar beet were re-examined; there were 53 experiments made between 1957 and 1960 in group 1 and 25 experiments between 1957 and 1959 in group 2. The mean response of total sugar to 126 kg/ha P2O5 was only 160 kg/ha but on a few fields response exceeded 1000 kg/ha. Response seemed to be greater in 1958 than in the other years, but between-site variance accounted for most of the difference from year to year.Stored soil samples were analysed for phosphorus by four methods; the results were compared and related to the yield response to phosphate fertilizer. After allowing for experimental error, the percentages of the between-sites variance of the responses accounted for by log (soil P) were (group 1 first): sodium bicarbonate, 60 and 62%; anion resin, 52 and 30%; ammonium acetate/acetic acid, 52 and 0%; and calcium chloride, 42 and 2%. When soil pH was included in the regression equation, prediction of response by anion resin much improved and equalled that of sodium bicarbonate. Ammonium acetate/acetic acid was ineffective on soils with much free calcium carbonate.As two-thirds of the soils had sodium bicarbonate-soluble phosphorus concentrations between 15 and 45 ppm P with mean response 65 kg/ha sugar, there is only limited scope for increasing the profitability of the crop by improving P manuring. However, more P fertilizer can be recommended for the few soils with ≤ 10 ppm P and P fertilizer can be withheld from fields with more than 45 ppm. The dressings we recommend are 180, 120, 60, 30 and 0 kg/ha P2O5 (approximately 1·5, 1·0, 0·5, 0·25 and 0 cwt/acr P2O5) on soils with ≤ 10, 11·15, 16·25, 26·45 and ≥45 ppm sodium bicarbonatesoluble P respectively.

This study evaluates the extent to which product, technology, service, and process innovations influence the sustainability of Healthcare service businesses. The context of the study is Premier Service Medical Investments (PSMI) Limited, Zimbabwe. A quantitative research, with a deductive approach was conducted using a self-administered structured questionnaire which was anchored on a 7-point Likert scale for gathering survey primary data. A purposively recruited sample of 350 employees with leadership responsibilities, were drawn from executive, middle management and supervisory levels. After testing and validating the reliability and validity of the questionnaire measures, a logistic regression was run to test the research hypotheses. The results reveal the following: Service Innovation had a positive relationship with Sustainability, indicating that a unit increase in Service Innovation has an effect of a 256% increase in odds of Sustainability. Product Innovation had a negative relationship with Sustainability, indicating that a unit increase in Product Innovation has an effect of a 13% decrease in odds of Sustainability. Technology Innovation had a positive relationship with Sustainability, indicating that a unit increase in Technology Innovation has an effect of a 25% increase in odds of Sustainability. Process Innovation had a positive relationship with Sustainability, indicating that a unit increase in Process Innovation has an effect of a 117% increase in odds of Sustainability. Moreover, using the linear regression method, the variable Service Innovation indicated that with an additional service, Sustainability increases by 27.1%. Technology Innovation showed that with an additional technology, sustainability increases by 4.3%. Process Innovation indicated that with an additional process, Sustainability increases by 36.6%. From the results, using the both the logistic and linear regression models, the findings indicate that strategic innovation significantly influences sustainability of healthcare services business in Zimbabwe. Arising from this research, sustainability of healthcare care business is seen to be triggered and driven by all 4 types of innovation evaluated in this research, namely: service, process, product and technology. It is recommended that these innovation dimensions be implemented within a defined internal environment supported by an innovation hub. With the use of regression and dispersion analyzes conducted in this study it was possible to identify predictive factors that significantly worsen the prognosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in adolescents however constructed regression equations did not pass the quality assessment of the models, which did not allow them to be used for the construction of point and interval predictions. In a cohort of patients enrolled in the study a risk-adapted treatment program based on the risk group for stratification was conducted. Negative aspects of the results of our study could be related to the already selected volume of the program for these patients. In turn our analysis proves the validity of the selection of therapeutic loads (a number of cycles of polychemotherapy, doses of radiation therapy) depending on the risk group, into which the adolescent is stratified.

Based on analysis of appropriate literary sources we established that estimation of fire separation distances was based of two criteria: heat flux and temperature. We proposed to use “ignition temperature of materials” as principal criterion when determining fire separation distances between adjacent construction facilities. Based on the results derived while performing complete factorial we created mathematical model to describe trend of changing fire separation distances depending on caloric power of fire load (Q), openings factor of the external enclosing structures (k) and duration of irradiation (t); moreover, its adequacy was confirmed. Based on linear regression equations we substantiated calculation and tabular method for the determination of fire separation distances for a facility being irradiated which contains combustible or otherwise non-combustible façade and a facility where liquid oil products turn. We developed and proposed general methodology for estimation of fire separation distances between construction facilities by calculation.

Assessment of the long-term impact of fertilizers and other management factors on crop production and environmental sustainability of cropping systems in the semi-arid Canadian prairies is needed. This paper discusses the long-term influence of N and P fertilizers on crop production, N uptake and water use of hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and the effect of the preceding crop type [flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) and fall rye (Secale cereale L.)] on wheat grown on a medium-textured, Orthic Brown Chernozem at Swift Current, Saskatchewan. We analysed 36 yr of results (1967–2002) from eight crop rotation-fertility treatments: viz., fallow-wheat receiving N and P (F-W, N + P), three F-W-W treatments fertilized with (i) N + P, (ii) P only, and (iii) N only; two other 3-yr mixed rotations with N + P (i) F-flax-W (F-Flx-W) and (ii) F-fall rye-W (F-Rye-W); and two continuous wheat rotations (Cont W), one receiving N + P and the other only P. Growing season weather conditions during the 36-yr period were near the long-term mean, but the first 22 yr were generally drier than normal while the last 14 yr (1989–2002) had average to above-average growing conditions. This was partly responsible for grain and N yield being greater in the latter period than in the first 22 yr. The 36-yr average response of wheat grown on fallow to P fertilizer was 339 kg ha-1, while the response to N fertilizer over this period was only 123 kg ha-1. The 36-yr average response of wheat grown on stubble to N was 344 kg ha-1 for F-W-(W) and 393 kg ha-1 for Cont W. Neither flax nor fall rye influenced the yield response of the following wheat crops. Annualized grain production for F-W (N + P), F-W-W (+ N) and F-W-W (+ P) rotations were similar (1130 kg ha-1 yr-1); this was about 15% lower than for F-W-W (N + P), 40% lower than for Cont W (N + P), and 5% lower than for Cont W (+ P). Annualized aboveground N yield for Cont W (N + P) was 57% higher than for Cont W (+ P). Regressions were developed relating straw to grain yields for wheat, flax and fall rye. The amount of NO3-N left in the soil was directly related to amount of N applied and inversely to N removed in the crop. Thus, F-(W)-W (+ N) left about 28% more NO3-N in the rooting zone than F-(W)-W (N + P), while F-W-(W) (N + P) left 20% more than F-W-(W) (+ P), and Cont W (N + P) left 39% more than Cont W (+ P). F-Rye-W (N + P) left much less NO3-N in the soil than any other fallow-containing system and similar amounts to Cont W (N + P). Depression is associated with impaired health outcomes. This study investigated whether there is a significant association between depression and dissatisfaction with dentures in older adults. In a population-based study (1180 adults aged 65–74 yrs), depression was measured by an abbreviated Geriatric Depression Scale. Denture dissatisfaction was assessed with a five-point Likert-type question ("very dissatisfied" to "very satisfied"). The depression-denture dissatisfaction association was analyzed with simple (dissatisfied vs. not dissatisfied outcome) and ordinal logistic regression (based on outcome’s full range). For each unit increase on the 15-point depression scale, the probability of denture dissatisfaction increased by 24% [95% confidence interval, 15–34%, P < 0.001 (simple logistic regression)] and the probability for higher levels on the five-point dissatisfaction scale increased by 16% [95% CI, 11–22%, P < 0.001 (ordinal logistic regression)], adjusted for potential confounding variables. The likely causal association in older adults has major implications for the evaluation of treatment effects and the demand for prosthodontic therapy.

Education, motivation and compensation are important things that can improve performance. This study aims to explain whether there is an influence of education, motivation and compensation on employee performance. So that through the results of this study it is expected to be a reference for leaders in managing the organization. In this study there are three independent variables namely education, motivation and compensation and one dependent variable is employee performance. At present it is in the era of industrial revolution 4.0, which is marked by; big data / giant data, internet of think, labor knowledge, and long life education. Since the beginning of the life of mankind to an infinite period, it is largely determined by the mastery of science and technology. Science and technology can not be separated from the progress of education level. Education is the base of all changes both individually, as well as countries. Employee performance is determined by the education that is owned, as high as education, the higher the performance and vice versa. The population in this study are BRI CAB employees, SEMARANG A-YANI, 60 people and all of them are sampled. The results of the analysis using SPSS 23 program statistical tools obtained multiple linear regression equation Y = 0.505 X1 + 0.175 X2 + 0.408 X3 The results of multiple linear regression equations show that there is a positive and significant influence between education on employee performance at BRI CAB. A YANI SEMARANG (t count test 6.314> t table 0.05), motivation towards employee performance at BRI CAB. A YANI SEMARANG (tcount 2,160> t table 0,05), and compensation for employee performance at BRI CAB. A YANI SEMARANG (t test 5.108> ttable 0.05). While together (simultaneously) the influence of education, motivation and compensation has an effect on and significant on the performance of employees at BRI CAB. A YANI SEMARANG (count = 44,692> ftabel = 0.05). The influence of the two research variables is very strong with a correlation value of 69.0% for employee performance at BRI CAB. A YANI SEMARANG is influenced by the motivation and compensation education of the remaining 31.0% of the employees' performance at BRI CAB. A YANI SEMARANG is influenced by other variables that affect employee performance.

The formulation of the problem used by researchers is How the influence of the Work Environment on Employee Performance at the Education and Youth Sports Office of Majene Regency, How the influence of Compensation on Employee Performance at the Education and Youth Sports Office of Majene Regency, which variables have more influence on Employee Performance at the Education and Youth Office Majene District Sports. The research method, namely the population and sample used in this study were all employees of the Department of Education and Youth Sports of Majene Regency, which amounted to about 50 people, while the analysis method used the Validity Test, Reliability Test, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis This analysis was used to determine how much influence it had. independent variables, namely: compensation (X1), and work environment (X2) on the dependent variable, namely Employee Performance (Y). Multiple linear regression equations, Partial Significance Test (t test) and Simultaneous Test (F test). The results obtained from this study are the work environment has a significant effect on employee performance at the Department of Education and Youth Sports of Majene Regency, compensation has an effect on employee performance at the Education and Youth Sports Office of Majene Regency. and the work environment has a more dominant influence on employee performance at the Department of Education and Youth Sport, Majene Regency.</em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords: </em></strong><em>Work Environment, Compensation, Employee Performance</em></p>

This study aimed to determine the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and phosphate (P) fertilizer on the nutrient content, phosphate uptake and in vitro digestibility of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.).The research was conducted at green house of Forage and Pastures Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada. The experiment was arranged in Completely Randomized Design using 3x4 factorial patterns with four replications. The first factor was dosage of phosphate fertilizer SP 36 (0, 60, and 120 kg/ha). Second factor was the dosage of AMF (0, 0.8, 1.6, and 2.4kg/ha). The variable measured was nutrient contents (crude protein, dry matter, and organic matter), total P uptake and dry matter and organic matter in vitro digestibility. The results showed that the interaction of AMF and P fertilizer had no significant effect on crude protein and total P uptake, but highly significant effect on the parameters of dry matter, organic matter and dry matter and organic matter in vitro digestibility.
