EFFECTS OF DEFOLIATION OF WINTER RYE AT VARIOUS TIMES ON GRAIN PRODUCTION IN SOUTHWESTERN SASKATCHEWAN

The effects of fall, spring, and spring plus fall defoliation were studied in four winter rye (Secale cereale L.) cultivars for 2 yr. On average, the three treatments reduced grain yield by 8.7%, 16.6% and 23.2%, respectively, compared to the untreated check.
