The present work provides a general survey of the scorpion genus <em>Euscorpius</em> Thorell, 1876. Each species is briefly summarized, with notes on taxonomy, morphology, geographic distribution and ecology. The distribution and diagnostic characters are shown in easy to read tables and an identification key is provided. All the current valid species of <em>Euscorpius</em> (except <em>Euscorpius koschewnikowi</em> Birula, 1903) and several peculiar morphotypes are illustrated, with the first images of <em>Euscorpius beroni</em> Fet, 2000. The main aim of this work is to provide a complete review which will be useful both to have clearance on current systematics of the complex genus <em>Euscorpius</em> and to interpret possible future taxonomic rearrangements. <em>Euscorpius italicus</em> (Herbst, 1800) was found for the first time in Siena (central-western Italy), a record that represents a new allochthonous population, probably due to anthropogenic origin.

The catshark genus Scyliorhinus belongs to the family Scyliorhinidae, the most diverse family of sharks, and currently presents 16 valid species according to most modern accounts. The long history of taxonomic rearrangements and inaccurate descriptions of many species have contributed to misidentification of specimens and lack of information on the distributional range and diagnostic characters of its species. Species of Scyliorhinus are reviewed and redescribed here, with detailed descriptions on external morphology, neurocranium, claspers, dermal denticles, and tooth morphology provided for the first time for all species. Sixteen species are recognized as valid: Scyliorhinus boa (Goode & Bean, 1896), S. cabofriensis Soares, Gomes & de Carvalho, 2016, S. canicula (Linnaeus, 1758), S. capensis (Müller & Henle, 1838), S. cervigoni Maurin & Bonnet, 1970, S. comoroensis Compagno, 1988, S. duhamelii (Garman, 1913), S. garmani (Fowler, 1934), S. haeckelii (Miranda Ribeiro, 1907), S. hesperius Springer, 1966, S. meadi Springer, 1966, S. retifer (Garman, 1881), S. stellaris (Linnaeus, 1758), S. torazame (Tanaka, 1908), S. torrei Howell-Rivero, 1936, and S. ugoi Soares, Gomes & Gadig, 2015. The main taxonomic decisions herein taken include the resurrection of S. duhamelii (previously a junior synonym of S. canicula) and the synonimization of S. tokubee with S. torazame. Information on geographic distribution was updated for most species, especially for those with wide ranges (S. canicula, S. haeckelii, S. retifer, and S. stellaris).

This monograph presents the results of research on the morphological and anatomical variability, ecology, and distribution of <em>Opegrapha</em> s. l. in Poland. The study is based on roughly 1,400 specimens from Polish and some European herbaria. Out of the 18 species of the genus <em>Opegrapha</em> s. l. recorded from Poland, seven species belong to the genus <em>Opegrapha</em> Ach., four species now belong to the genus <em>Alyxoria</em> Ach. ex Gray, two species each are found in the genera <em>Arthonia</em> Ach. and <em>Zwackhia</em> Körb, and one species belongs to each of the genera <em>Gyrographa</em> Ertz &amp; Tehler, <em>Phacographa</em> Hafellner, and <em>Pseudoschismatomma</em> Ertz &amp; Tehler. One of the species, <em>Zwackhia sorediifera</em>, has been reported from Poland for the first time. Among the 18 species of the genus <em>Opegrapha</em> s. l., 10 are epiphytic, five epilithic, and two lichenicolous. The first modern identification key for the species of <em>Opegrapha</em> s. l. in Poland is presented. Numerous new regional records are provided that complement our knowledge of the geographic distribution of some poorly known taxa, such as <em>Alyxoria culmigena</em>, <em>A. mougeotii</em>, <em>A. ochrocheila</em>, <em>Arthonia calcarea</em>, <em>Opegrapha dolomitica</em>, <em>O. geographicola</em>, <em>O. lithyrga</em>, and <em>Phacographa glaucomaria</em>. All species are characterized and discussed, and their diagnostic characters illustrated. Geographic ranges of each species in Poland are presented on maps based on revised herbarium materials.

The genus Macroderes Westwood, 1842 (Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae, tribe incertae sedis) is practically endemic to South Africa with only one species that is found little north in southern Namibia. The ranges of the species are limited to the winter-fall and bimodal biomes of South Africa comprising the regions of Richtersveld as extreme points of its northerly distribution, and extending to the south through Namaqualand to Cape Agulhas. The taxonomy of the genus is revised. Fourteen valid species are recognised and three others are of doubtful validity. Seven new species are described, these are: M. cederbergensis Abdalla & Deschodt, new species, M. tortuosus Abdalla & Scholtz, new species, M. gifboomi Abdalla & Scholtz, new species, M. leipoldti Abdalla & Deschodt, new species, M. oreatus Abdalla & Deschodt, new species, M. porselinus Abdalla, new species, and M. soleiana Abdalla & Deschodt, new species. Macroderes nitidus Harold, 1877 is redescribed and its lectotype is designated. The diagnostic characters as well as an updated geographic distribution of each species are summarised. An updated key of the genus, photographs of habitus, sclerites of internal sac, pronotum, pronotal punctures and elytra also are provided.

A new species of water scavenger beetle, Laccobius (Glyptolaccobius) yinziweii sp. nov. is described from Yunnan, China. Diagnostic characters are illustrated. Laccobius (Cyclolaccobius) nitidus Gentili, 1984 is reported from Guizhou, Laccobius (Microlaccobius) hammondi Gentili, 1984 from Hubei, and Laccobius (s. str.) inopinus Gentili, 1980 from Guizhou for the first time. Additionally, an identification key to Laccobius (Glyptolaccobius) of the world is updated.

The genus Ludioctenus Fairmaire, 1893 hitherto included only L. cyprius (Baudi di Selve, 1871) from the eastern Mediterranean and L. pakistanicus Schimmel & Tarnawski, 2012 from Pakistan. Here, we describe L. afghanicus sp. nov. from the Nuristan Province in eastern Afghanistan. The distribution and morphological diversity of Ludioctenus is discussed, main diagnostic characters for all species are figured, and an identification key to the species of this genus is provided. Female pregenital segments and genitalia are figured for the first time for Ludioctenus, and the systematic position of this genus and its relatives is discussed.

Four surveys were conducted between October 1998 and April 1999 along the upper section of the Colombian Caribbean Sea continental slope with the aim of compliting marine fauna inventories. During the surveys (INVEMAR-MACROFAUNA 1) individuals of the shrimps Parapontocaris caribbaea, P. vicina, Prionocrangon pectinata and Parapontophilus gracilis (Decapoda: Crangonidae) were found and are herein registered for the first time in Colombian waters. Along with the description of the collected material and reference to site of collection, identification keys, diagnostic characters, diagrams and bathimetric and geographic distribution are included as well as comments on morphological variations of the individuals.

Abstract We present the taxonomic treatment of Convolvulaceae for the Meruoca Massif, located in the Northwest region of the Ceará state, where there are remnants of Tropical Pluvial Sub-deciduous Forest (Dry Forest) and Tropical Pluvial-Nebular Rainforest (Wet Forest). The present study was based on the morphological analysis of specimens collected in the field and from the collections EAC, HUEFS, HUVA, PEUFR, and SPF. We recorded 24 species distributed in four genera: Ipomoea (18 species), Jacquemontia (three species), Distimake (two species), and Camonea (one species). We report the first records of I. cearensis for Atlantic Forest and I. aristolochiifolia to the state of Ceará. The taxonomic treatment includes identification key, morphological descriptions, geographic distribution, taxonomic and ecological comments, the period of flowering and fruiting, and photos and illustrations of the diagnostic characters.

Anupdated circumscription and a taxonomic treatment of Chamaecrista sect. Absus subsect. Absus ser. Rigidulae is presented based on the results of previous phylogeny study where the series has emerged as monophyletic with exclusion of two species (C. brachyblepharis and C.ciliolata) and inclusion of two others species (C. botryoides and Ch. sincorana) in its circumscription. This revision resulted from consulting the specialized literature, analyzing of about 1400 collections from national and foreign herbaria. In this new circumscription, the series becomes the largest series of the genus with 32 species endemics to Brazil and distributed mainly in the Brazilian Central Plateau. Two new records in Brazilian states were reported, one to Bahia (Ch. feliciana) and two to Minas Gerais (Ch. benthamiana, Ch. rupestrium); an identification key of the species, morphologic descriptions, notes on taxonomy and geographic distribution of the taxa, conservation status, as well as illustrations and images of diagnostic characters are presented. In addition, the species typification remains updated with all categories indicated first with their respective barcodes.

The taxonomic treatment of Hirtella (Chrysobalanaceae) from Bahia State, Brazil, is presented. We recognize 14 species; H. bicornis is recorded for the first time in the state and H. prancei was originally described from this study. The treatment includes an identification key to species, descriptions and comments on taxa, as well as illustrations and geographic distribution maps of species in Bahia. An identification key to the genera of Chrysobalanaceae in the state is also provided.

The species of Centris of the hyptidis group are revised. The group, composed by C. hyptidis Ducke, C. hyptidoides Roig-Alsina, and C. thelyopsis n. sp., exhibits unique morphological characters within the genus, like foreand midtrochanters with a laminar expansion at the base, and elaiospathes strongly modified. An updated catalog, and floral and distributional records are provided for each species, as well as an identification key and a distribution map. The male of C. hyptidoides is described for the first time and a modern diagnosis for C. hyptidis is presented. A new species, C. thelyopsis n. sp., is described from Goiás State, in central Brazil. It can be easily distinguished from the two previously known species by its predominant orange pilosity, including that of the hind legs and metasoma.
