Low Temperature Cofired Ceramics (LTCC) for military and medical applications requires high reliability interconnects that have been traditionally met using cermet Au metallization But due to the rising cost of Au, it has become cost prohibitive in some applications to tier 1 defense contractors. The utilization of Silver cermet metallization reduces the costs of LTCC up to 50%, however requires proper coverage using either a Mixed Metal, or a Nickel (Ni) and Au (Au) Plated surface. Efforts to date on mixed metal solutions with resistive PdAg or PtAg transitions without Kirkendahl voiding have been unreliable for systems requiring post fire metallizations due to voiding at the silver to Au transition. Anaren Ceramics has developed an all Silver LTCC solution that utilizes Electroless Ni and Au (ENiG) plating, lowering the cost of entry for LTCC users up to 50%. Anaren Ceramics has developed a proprietary plating process for the DuPont 951 LTCC [1] tape material and silver metallization which meet the needs of high reliability, high cavity count LTCC packages that are fully solderable using PbSn, or AuSn materials for hermetic applications. The Anaren Ceramics solution meets Mil Std 883 test requirements and this paper will discuss the test results for plated LTCC substrates and AuSn brazed LTCC assemblies that include 350°C Bake Test, Tape Peel, X Ray Inspection, Open Header Leak Rate, Moisture under Bias, Salt Atmosphere, Die Shear, and Wire Bond.

The location-routing problem is a research area that simultaneously solves location-allocation and vehicle routing issues. It is critical to delivering emergency goods to customers with high reliability. In this paper, reliability in location and routing problems was considered as the probability of failure in depots, vehicles, and routs. The problem has two objectives, minimizing the cost and maximizing the reliability, the latter expressed by minimizing the expected cost of failure. First, a mathematical model of the problem was presented and due to its NP-hard nature, it was solved by a meta-heuristic approach using a NSGA-II algorithm and a discrete multi-objective firefly algorithm. The efficiency of these algorithms was studied through a complete set of examples and it was found that the multi-objective discrete firefly algorithm has a better Diversification Metric (DM) index; the Mean Ideal Distance (MID) and Spacing Metric (SM) indexes are only suitable for small to medium problems, losing their effectiveness for big problems.

The independent independent variables in this study as many as 89 respondents are determined by using saturated samples. To know the influence of independent variable to dependent variable partially, used t test. While to know the effect of independent variable to dependent variable simultaneously, used F test. The assumption used in the validity test is if R-count> R-table item is declared valid. The R-arithmetic shown in the table above, from each item indicates that R-arithmetic> R- table so the item is declared valid. Based on the validity test of the instrument of Leadership Style, Work Motivation, and Competence on Employee Performance, all items are declared valid and reliability test results indicate that the instrument has high reliability. This means that the eligibility criteria of the Instrument of Leadership Style, Work Motivation, Competency and Employee Performance have met the criteria of good instrument requirements, that is valid and reliable. The result of regression analysis of Leadership Style obtained by tcount = 20,91 while ttable value = 1,988 tcount> ttable proved variable of Leadership Style influence to Employee Performance. Work Motivation regression analysis obtained tcount = 17.62 while the value ttable = 1.988 tcount> ttabel proven Motivational Work variables influence on Employee Performance. Regression analysis Competence obtained value tcount = - 06.85 while ttable =1.988 so thitung> ttable and proven variable Competence have a negative effect on Employee Performance.

Abstract A component failure has the potential to significantly impact the cost, manufacturing schedule, and/or the perceived reliability of a system, especially if the root cause of the failure is not known. A failure analysis is often key to mitigating the effects of a componentlevel failure to a customer or a system; minimizing schedule slips, minimizing related accrued costs to the customer, and allowing for the completion of the system with confidence that the reliability of the product had not been compromised. This case study will show how a detailed and systemic failure analysis was able to determine the exact cause of failure of a multiplexer in a high-reliability system, which allowed the manufacturer to confidently proceed with production knowing that the failure was not a systemic issue, but rather that it was a random “one time” event.

Additive Layer Fabrication, in particular Electron Beam Additive Fabrication (EBAF), has recently drawn much attention for its special usability to fabricate intricately designed parts as a whole. It not only increases the production rate which reduces the production lead time but also reduces the cost by minimizing the amount of waste material to a great extent. Ti6Al4V is the most common type of material that is currently being fabricated using EBAF technique. This material has been used in aerospace industry for several reasons such as excellent mechanical properties, low density, great resistance to corrosion, and non-magnetism. The effects of build direction of layers (namely, addition of layers along one of the x, y & z directions with respect to the build table) and the anisotropy effect caused by it has not been explored vigorously. This anisotropy effect has been investigated in this work. Different mechanical properties such as Yield Strength (YS), Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS), and Modulus of Elasticity (E) of these three types of Ti6Al4V are determined using tensile tests and are compared with literature. The tensile test results show that YS and UTS for flat-build samples have distinguishably higher values than those of the side-build and top-build samples.

A new procedure of surface activation without using palladium salt is proposed for electroless nickel plating (Ni-P) on carbon fiber. The optimal formula and technical conditions for palladium-free activated electroless Ni-P were obtained by orthogonal experiments. The effects of nitric acid processing time on the quality of nickel coating was investigated .The effects of varying concentrations of Ni2 + on the rate of weight gain during the Ni2 + complex adsorption process were also analyzed and the kinetic equation of the process was established. The theoretical values calculated by the equation were proven to be consistent with the experimental verification. The material characteristics of the deposited layers were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The tensile strength of the carbon fibers was analyzed by the Weibull method, and this showed that when the thickness of the Ni-P coating reached 0.150μm, the tensile strength reached a maximum value. The experimental results showed that the nickel deposition on the carbon fiber surface obtained by this method, had the same uniformity, compactness and adhesive properties as the one by conventional electroless Ni-P.

A novel anti-caking material (E-Oil) was prepared from waste animal/plant oil and triethanolamine by catalytic synthesis in this study. The E-Oil was analyzed by FTIR and the anti-caking effect of anti-caking materials was described by caking ratio. The FTIR results showed that the reaction product of Waste Animal/Plant Oil and Hydramine was surfactant with anti-caking effect. The anti-caking test results indicated that E-Oil made the caking ratio of compound fertilizer decrease from 39.75% to 16.33%. Taking the cost into consideration, the optimal fraction of E Oil was 5‰ and the caking ratio could reach 16.33%, which could approximately meet the application requirements.

Electroless nickel–phosphorus (Ni–P) films were produced on the surface of p-type monocrystalline silicon in the alkaline citrate solutions. The influences of bath chemistry and plating variables on the chemical composition, deposition rate, morphology, and thermal stability of electroless Ni–P films on silicon wafers were studied. The as-deposited Ni–P films were almost all medium- and high-P deposits. The concentrations of Ni2+ and citric ions influenced the deposition rate of the films but did not affect P content in the deposits. With increasing H2PO2− content, the P content and deposition rate were steadily increased. The pH and plating temperature had a significant effect on the chemical composition and the deposition rate of the films. The thermal stability of the medium-P film was better than that of the high-P deposit. At the same time, the proposed mechanism of Ni–P films on monocrystalline silicon substrates in the alkaline bath solution was discussed and addressed.
