Head and a small cervical shield jet black. Each segment has about six blackish tubercles from which arise rather long gray hairs, the dorsal tubercles on segments 5 and 12 a little more prominent than the others. Duration of this period, 3 days.After First Moult.—Length .14 of an inch. Color pale yellowish green. Head black, as also a plate and a small spot on the top of the second segment. To each segment six purplish black slightly tubercular spots; those on the dorsum faint except those on 5 and 12, which are prominent, each pair confluent; a few hairs from each spot. Four cone-shaped rectal papillae locate at the anterior part of the rectum in Dacus dorsalis fly. The circular base of the papilla protrudes into the haemolymph (Fig. 1,2) and the rest cone-shaped tip (Fig. 2) inserts in the rectal lumen. The base is surrounded with the cuticle (Fig. 5). The internal structure of the rectal papilla (Fig. 3) comprises of the cortex with the columnar epithelial cells and a rod-shaped medulla. Between them, there is the infundibular space and many trabeculae connect each other. Several tracheae insert into the papilla through the top of the medulla, then run into the cortical epithelium and locate in the intercellular space. The intercellular sinuses distribute in the posterior part of the rectal papilla.The cortex of the base divides into about thirty segments. Between segments there is a radial cell (Fig. 4). Under the cuticle, the apical cell membrane of the cortical epithelium is folded into a regular border of leaflets (Fig. 5).

The present paper is based on a talk on hemispheric asymmetry given by Kenneth Hugdahl at the Xth European Congress of Psychology, Praha July 2007. Here, we propose that hemispheric asymmetry evolved because of a left hemisphere speech processing specialization. The evolution of speech and the need for air-based communication necessitated division of labor between the hemispheres in order to avoid having duplicate copies in both hemispheres that would increase processing redundancy. It is argued that the neuronal basis of this labor division is the structural asymmetry observed in the peri-Sylvian region in the posterior part of the temporal lobe, with a left larger than right planum temporale area. This is the only example where a structural, or anatomical, asymmetry matches a corresponding functional asymmetry. The increase in gray matter volume in the left planum temporale area corresponds to a functional asymmetry of speech processing, as indexed from both behavioral, dichotic listening, and functional neuroimaging studies. The functional anatomy of the corpus callosum also supports such a view, with regional specificity of information transfer between the hemispheres.

Mites have hostplant specifications or host plants. Mites can be destructive and deadly of which is the host plants a mango crop. Mites on mango crops will cause the leaves yellow and fall off prematurely. This is will lead to the disruption of the productivity of mango. It is necessary for research to identify the mites that infect the mango crop. The method is carried out by direct observation. Mites were taken from the surface of mango leaves later in preservation with several levels of concentration of alcohol, and polyvinyl laktofenol. Then, observed under a microscope and documented for identification purposes. Mites on the leaf surface of manalagi mango (<em>Mangifera indica</em>) found two species, it is <em>Oligonychus</em> sp. and <em>Oligonychus ilicis</em> (Family: Tetranychidae, Superfamily: Tetranychoidea). <em>Oligonychus</em> sp. hallmark is rounded body shape like a spider, with a body is transparent and there are two long seta on posterior part. While <em>Oligonychus ilicis</em> has a characteristic elongated rounded body shape, red, and there is a short posterior seta. <em>Oligonychus</em> sp. and <em>Oligonychus ilicis</em> live as parasites on the surface of mango leaves that can lead to wrinkled leaves, yellow and to fall. <em>Oligonychus</em> life cycle starts from the eggs develop into Nympha and then adult.

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is one of the common diseases affecting the posterior part of the eye, of a large population above 45 years old. Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor- A (Anti-VEGF-A) agents have been considered and approved as therapeutic agents for the treatment of AMD. Due to the large molecular weight and poor permeability through various eye membranes, VEGF-A inhibitors are given through an intravitreal injection, even though the delivery of small therapeutic molecules by topical application to the posterior part of the eye exhibits challenges in the treatment. To overcome these limitations, nanocarrier based delivery systems have been utilized to a large extent for the delivery of therapeutics. Nanocarriers system offers prodigious benefits for the delivery of therapeutics to the posterior part of the eye in both invasive and non-invasive techniques. The nano size can improve the permeation of therapeutic agent across the biological membranes. They provide protection from enzymes present at the site, targeted delivery or binding with the disease site and extend the release of therapeutic agents with prolonged retention. This leads to improved therapeutic efficacy, patient compliance, and cost effectiveness of therapy with minimum dose associated side-effects. This review has summarized various nanocarriers explored for the treatment of AMD and challenges in translation.

Acephalic spermatozoa syndrome (ASS) is a rare but extremely severe type of teratozoospermia, defined by the presence of a majority of headless flagella and a minority of tail-less sperm heads in the ejaculate. Like the other severe monomorphic teratozoospermias, ASS has a strong genetic basis and is most often caused by bi-allelic variants in SUN5 (Sad1 and UNC84 domain-containing 5). Using whole exome sequencing (WES), we investigated a cohort of nine infertile subjects displaying ASS. These subjects were recruited in three centers located in France and Tunisia, but all originated from North Africa. Sperm from subjects carrying candidate genetic variants were subjected to immunofluorescence analysis and transmission electron microscopy. Moreover, fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) was performed on sperm nuclei to assess their chromosomal content. Variant filtering permitted us to identify the same SUN5 homozygous frameshift variant (c.211+1_211+2dup) in 7/9 individuals (78%). SUN5 encodes a protein localized on the posterior part of the nuclear envelope that is necessary for the attachment of the tail to the sperm head. Immunofluorescence assays performed on sperm cells from three mutated subjects revealed a total absence of SUN5, thus demonstrating the deleterious impact of the identified variant on protein expression. Transmission electron microscopy showed a conserved flagellar structure and a slightly decondensed chromatin. FISH did not highlight a higher rate of chromosome aneuploidy in spermatozoa from SUN5 patients compared to controls, indicating that intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can be proposed for patients carrying the c.211+1_211+2dup variant. These results suggest that the identified SUN5 variant is the main cause of ASS in the North African population. Consequently, a simple and inexpensive genotyping of the 211+1_211+2dup variant could be beneficial for affected men of North African origin before resorting to more exhaustive genetic analyses.

Abstract Purpose The aim of the study was to examine the ligaments of the os trigonum. Methods The ankle joint magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of 104 patients with the os trigonum (experimental group) and 104 patients without the os trigonum (control group) were re-reviewed. The connections of the os trigonum and posterior talofibular ligament (PTFL), the fibulotalocalcaneal ligament (FTCL), the paratenon of the Achilles tendon, the posterior talocalcaneal ligament (PTCL), the osteofibrous tunnel of the flexor hallucis longus (OF-FHL) and the flexor retinaculum (FR) were studied. Results The os trigonum is connected to structures. The posterior part of the PTFL inserted on the os trigonum in 85.6% of patients, whereas in all patients in the control group, the posterior part of the PTFL inserted on the posterior talar process (p < 0.05). The connection of the PTCL was seen in 94.2% of patients in the experimental group, while it was seen in 90.4% of patients in the control group (p > 0.05). The connection to the FTCL in the experimental group was 89.4%, while in the control group, it was 91.3% (p > 0.05). The communication with the paratenon was seen more often in the control group compared to that in the experimental group (31.7% vs. 63.8%, p < 0.001). The FTCL was prolonged medially into the FR in 85.6% of patients in the experimental group and in 87.5% of patients in the control group (p > 0.05). The flexor hallucis longus (FHL) run at the level of articulation between the os trigonum 63.5% and the posterior process of the talus 25% and less often on the os trigonum 11.5%. Conclusion The os trigonum is connected with all posterior ankle structures and more connections than previously reported.

Background:Osteoporosis is an increasingly important health problem among patients with spondyloarthritis (SPA). The Measure of Bone Mineral Density BMD is routinely carried out in an anteroposterior (AP) view of the spine. However, the syndesmophytes, ligaments calcifications, and the posterior part of vertebrae affect AP scanning. A lateral spine view is a more sensitive tool in assessing bone loss in trabecular bone.Objectives:We aimed to evaluate the association between lateral lumbar DXA and syndesmophyte grading in patients with SPA.Methods:We conducted a retrospective study including 75 patients with SPA. Bone density of the hip and lumbar spine was measured with a GE Lunar Prodigy Advance Bone Densitometer equipment. All patients had lumbar lateral, AP, and proximal femur DXA scans. The T-score, which measures the difference between a patient’s BMD and young-normal subjects, was computed and age-matched.Results:The mean age of the patients was 36±11 years. Male predominance was noted with a sex ratio of 4.76. The mean BMI was 25±5 kg/m2. Eight percent were obese. Fifty-two percent had Vitamin D deficiency.Forty-eight percent of the patients had axial SPA, while 52% had axial and peripheral symptoms.The mean age of onset was 27±7 years. Fifty-two percent of the patients had high inflammatory biomarkers. The BASDAI, ASDAS-VS, and ASDAS-CRP mean levels were respectively: 3.5±2.4, 3.1±0.9, and 3±0.8. The mean BASRI and mass were respectively 8 + 4.8 and 16.4 + 19.4. Analyses of T-score values obtained over the femoral neck revealed osteoporosis in 18.7% of the cases and osteopenia in 32% of the cases. On the other hand, analyses of AP, spine views revealed osteoporosis in 25.3% and osteopenia in 45.3% of patients (p=0.028, r=0.254). We detected the highest percentage of osteoporosis in lateral lumbar view and T-scores matched more closely with femoral neck values; osteoporosis in 29.3%, and osteopenia in 22.7% of the patients (p<10-3, r=0.562). BMD measured in AP, and lateral views were in good agreement (p<10-3, p=0.592). Age was inversely but not significantly associated with BMD in lateral (p=0.442, r=-0.09), AP (p=0.319, r=-0.117) and femoral neck projections (p=0.179, r=-0.157). Femoral neck BMD was associated with the activity of SPA (ASDAS vs (p=0.027, r= -0.295), and the mobility limitation BASMI (p=0.032, r= -0.247). Coxitis, BASRI, or mSASS were independent of BMD.Conclusion:We conclude that spine lateral view in DXA accurately measures BMD exceeding the AP spine views and femoral neck values. Two new chronic paroxysmal hemicrania patients are described. In both, attacks can be precipitated mechanically by applying firm manual pressure to certain sensitive points on the neck, i.e. in the C2 area, in the transverse processes of the C4–C5 vertebrae, or beneath the posterior part o15 the skull on the symptomatic side. The most sensitive area seems to be the transverse process of C4–C5. Susceptibility to this type of attack is dependent on the flow of spontaneous attacks; attacks are easily precipitated in a phase with multiple spontaneous attacks, but are not readily precipitated otherwise. Under indomethacin protection, local tenderness is clearly diminished and attacks cannot be precipitated.
