AbstractDiptera caught in malaise traps set in forests of Sitka spruce, Picea sitchensis (Bon.) Carrière, in the Carmanah Valley, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, included two new species of Sphaeroceridae. Minilimosina sitka Marshall sp.nov. and Phthitia squamosa Marshall sp.nov. are described for the first time and compared with related species. Fourteen other sphaerocerid species caught with these species are listed.

Lampetra macrostoma n.sp., a freshwater parasitic lamprey, is distinguished from related species L. tridentata, L. lethophaga, L. folletti, L. minima, and L. similis by its parasitic habit and very large disc. Other characters distinguishing the species from L. tridentata are its longer prebranchial length, large eye, weakly pigmented velar tentacles, and its ability to remain in freshwater. The recently metamorphosed form readily survives in freshwater and probably is non-anadromous even though it can survive in salt water. The new species has been discovered in two lakes on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, where it attacks large numbers of resident salmonids. Because of its ability to survive and feed in freshwater, it poses a definite threat to freshwater fishes.Key words: lamprey, new species, non-anadromous lamprey, salmonid parasitism

Two new species of the genus Allopachria Zimmermann, 1924: A. elongata sp. nov. and A. yanfengi sp. nov. fromGuangxi Autonomous Region, China are described, illustrated and compared with related species. Allopachria ernsti We-walka, 2002 is recorded from China (Guangxi) for the first time. In addition, a figure of the paramere of Allopachrialiselotteae Wewalka, 2000 is presented and corrected, and the identification of A. dieterlei Wewalka, 2000, recorded from Jiangxi province by Bian & Ji (2010), is changed to A. miaowangi Wewalka, 2010.

Holobomolochus venustus and Holobomolochus occultus, two new species of Bomolochidae (Copepoda: Cyclopoida) are recorded from fishes of British Columbia, described, and illustrated. Holobomolochus spinulus is found for the first time in the Canadian waters, and two new hosts (Damalichthys vacca and Gasterosteus aculeatus) are recorded for Bomolochus cuneatus.

Two new species of Nemouridae of the genusIndonemouraBaumann, 1975,Indonemouraquadratasp. n.andIndonemouraquadrispinasp. n., are described from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China, on the basis of both sexes and larval stage. The affinities towards related species are discussed, together with generic characters of the larvae.Indonemourascalprata(Li & Yang, 2007) is recorded from Guangxi for the first time, and its hitherto unknown female is described.

AbstractTwo new species of idoteid isopods, Syraidolea fecunda and S. indica, from the Pakistan coast, are described, figured and compared to closely related species. The genus Synidotea is now reported for the first time from Pakistan. Both new species were collected in the rocky intertidal of Manora Island, Karachi.

Two new noctuid species, Ecpatia grisescens sp. n., E. spiculivalva sp. n. are described from Thailand based on a combination of morphological characters and DNA barcodes. Morphological structures and genetic distances are compared to those of related species. Ecpatia sciachroa Hampson, 1926 and Ecpatia obscura Holloway, 2009 are reporded from Thailand for the first time, and a checklist of 17 valid species of Ecpatia is provided.

AbstractThe Canadian species of the genus Placusa Erichson are reviewed. Eight species are recorded, of which four constitute new Canadian records (P. despecta Erichson, P. incompleta Sjöberg, P. petulans Casey, and P. vaga Casey) and two are new to science (P. pseudosuecica Klimaszewski sp.nov., and P. canadensis Klimaszewski sp.nov.). Placusa turbata Casey, one of the two species previously recorded from British Columbia, is here considered a synonym of P. tachyporoides (Waltl) and is reported for the first time from eastern Canada (New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec). New data are provided on the systematics, distribution, bionomics, and relationships of selected North American species. A key to the species occurring in Canada is presented with illustrations of the median lobe of the aedeagus, spermatheca, male tergite 8, antennae, and outline drawings of the head and adult forebody for each species. Selected Palearctic species are also illustrated for easy comparison with the closely related Nearctic species. The Canadian distribution is presented on contour maps, and world distribution is discussed for all species. The following lectotypes are designated for the Nearctic species which were described from more than one specimen without former holotype designation: Casey (1893, 1911): P. frosti, P. strata, P. tacomae, P. turbata; Erichson (1840): P. despecta; and Sachse (1852): Oxypoda minuta Sachse. Oxypoda minuta is transferred to the genus Placusa and newly synonymized with P. despecta Erichson (1840).

AbstractHypogastrura (Mucrella) arborea sp.nov. is described from a mature sitka spruce forest on Vancouver Island. Specimens occurred both in ground litter and in epiphytic moss in the canopy. The new species differs from the four other species of the subgenus by the absence of anal spines and the presence of 2-3-2 clavate tibiotarsal hairs.

AbstractTwo new species, Micropeplus volcanus from Mexico and M. smetanai from British Columbia, are described and illustrated. New distributional and habitat data are given for nine other species of the subfamily. The male genitalia of Kalissus nitidus Leconte and Peplomicrus acumen (Sharp) are illustrated for the first time. A revised key to the New World species of the genus Micropeplus is presented.

Noteridae, Dytiscidae (Coleoptera) from Gabon (eighth part). Monts de Cristal. This work concerns the Coleoptera Hydradephaga collected in eight localities of Monts de Cristal (Republic of Gabon) included locality of Tchimbélé into the National Park of Monts de Cristal in years 2006 - 2010; altogether 76 species are listed (3 Noteridae and 73 Dytiscidae) of which 51 species found in the Park. The authors describe two new species: <em>Copelatus angouei</em> (group <em>consors</em>, sensu Guignot, 1961, distinguishable from other species of group by small size, the robust conformation, the upper side clearly microreticulate covered by fine and thick punctuation which give it an opaque look and by characteristic penis), <em>Copelatus nguemai</em> (group <em>irinus</em>, subgroup <em>assimilis</em>, sensu Guignot, 1961, related to assimilis Régimbart, 1895, distinguishable by longer spine of metatibia clearly curved at third apical in both sexes and by characteristic penis) and one new subspecies: <em>Copelatus lasckonyi tchimbelensis</em> (group <em>irinus</em>, subgroup <em>irinus</em>, sensu Guignot, 1961, characterized by very small size, by narrowed profile of the body from shoulders in some specimens and by the upper side finely microreticulate, penis, very characteristic, is identical to typical form). The examination of two sintypes of <em>Copelatus variegatus</em> Régimbart, 1895 (group <em>erichsoni</em>, subgroup <em>atrosulcatus</em>, sensu Guignot, 1961) of Muséum Nationale d’Histoire Naturelle of Paris and of specimens of related species of the Museums of Tervuren and Bruxelles permitted the determination of the specimens of <em>C. variegatus c</em>ollected during research and the redescription of the species known till now by the two sintypes (here respectively designate lectotype and paralectotype); meanwhile a new species has been identified: <em>Copelatus mendax</em>, belonging to same group and subgroup of <em>C.</em> <em>variegatus</em>, misidentified with veritable <em>C. variegatus</em>. Some <em>taxa</em> of aquatic macroinvertebrates (Hexapoda, Malacostraca, <em>Clitellata</em> et Mollusca) in the zone collected and determined by a Researcher of IRAF (CENAREST, Gabon), Blaise Mboye Rollinat, who had participated in mission 2010, are furnished. Observations on some of the collected species and some ecological data of the biocenoses that populate the zone and some considerations on aquatic Coleoptera habitats are presented. The name of the species <em>Copelatus efoutensis</em> Bilardo &amp; Rocchi, 1995 is amended in efotensis<em>.</em> <em>Hydrovatus senegalensis</em> Régimbart, 1895 and <em>Uvarus barombicus</em> Bilardo, 1982 are signalled for the first time of Gabon.
