AbstractThe 70 species of Platycheirus (including Carposcalis, Pyrophaena, and much of Melanostoma of North American authors) occurring in the Nearctic Region north of Mexico are revised. Twenty-three species are described as new and new names are proposed for two species. Eighteen new synonyms and 14 new combinations are proposed; one variety name is given specific status. Six palaearctic species are recorded from North America for the first time, and one nearctic species from Europe, for a total of 23 holarctic species.

The Liriomyza (Diptera: Agromyzidae) of Canada and Alaska is revised, with species keyed and illustrated, and new host and geographic records provided. Eighty one species are recognized, including 24 new to science: L. agrios, L. albispina, L. anatolis, L. aphila, L. apilaca, L. aquapolis, L. arenarium, L. atrassimilis, L. bicolumbis, L. charada, L. cracentis, L. elevaster, L. emaciata, L. fumeola, L. gibsoni, L. griffithsi, L. hilairensis, L. limopsis, L. mesocanadensis, L. pilicornis, L. pistilla, L. rigaudensis, L. taraxanox, L. taraxanuda, L. tryssos. Ten species known from the United States are recorded as new to Canada: L. artemisiae Spencer, L. assimilis (Malloch), L. baccharidis Spencer, L. helianthi Spencer, L. merga Lonsdale, L. minor Spencer, L. sabaziae Spencer, L. temperata Spencer, L. violivora (Spencer) and L. virgo (Zetterstedt). Palaearctic species new to North America include L. wachtli Hendel and L. flaveola (Fallén); while the latter species has been recorded in North America before, all previous records represent misidentifications. Hosts are recorded for the first time for L. balcanicoides Sehgal, L. minor Spencer, L. orilliensis Spencer and L. socialis Spencer. Galiomyza Spencer syn. nov. is included as a junior synonym of Liriomyza Mik, resulting in six new combinations.

All macropterous species of Aptilotus Mik are keyed, with descriptions of two new macropterous North American species, Aptilotus pogophallus and A. nigriphallus. New distributional records are given for other North American species, and brachyptery is noted for the first time in A. luctuosus (Spuler). Four new macropterous species of Aptilotus (glabrifrons, spinistylus, rufiscapus, and binotatus are described from Nepal. The relationships between the North American and Nepalese species are discussed. Minocellina Papp is synonomized with Aptilotus, and the two species formerly in Minocellina, A. thaii (Papp) and A. besucheti (Papp), are thus given as new combinations. Limosina carbonicolor Richards, from Ethiopia, is redescribed and transferred to Aptilotus.

AbstractThe Elachista tetragonella group is redefined, its limits extended to include the genus Biselachista Traugott-Olsen & Nielsen, 1977. The North American species of the tetragonella group are described and illustrated, and a key is given to the males. 19 species are recognized in the Nearctic region, including 12 new species: Elachista pyrrha (Alberta), E. absaroka (Wyoming), E. calusella (Florida), E. beothucella (Newfoundland), E. glenni (Illinois), E. cerasella (Nebraska), E. serra (Labrador), E. huron (Quebec), E. vinlandica (Newfoundland), E. ciliiyera (Mississippi), E. lenape (New Jersey) and E. pelaena (California). The male of E. inaudita Braun and the female of E. leucosticta Braun are described for the first time. Elachista eleochariella Stainton and E. albidella Nylander (= E. tanyopis Meyrick, syn. n.) are recognized as Holarctic species.

AbstractAs part of our ongoing studies of the Graphidaceae in North America, we resolve the status of all taxa traditionally assigned to the genus Graphina that have been reported from the continent north of Mexico. Treatments for the North American members of Acanthothecis, Carbacanthographis, and Diorygma are presented because several species of Graphina have been reassigned to these genera, and our studies of accumulated herbarium materials revealed the existence of several previously unreported and unrecognized species. The following new combinations are made: Acanthothecis leucopepla, A. mosquitensis, A. peplophora, and A. poitaeoides. Carbacanthographis muriformis is described as new to science based on material from Florida. The following taxa are reported from North America for the first time: Acanthothecis poitaeoides,Diorygma junghuhnii, D. reniforme.

A checklist of the 282 species of Arctiidae of North America north of Mexico is presented. The list reflects changes in taxonomy and additions to the fauna since publication of the Checklist of the Moths of America North of Mexico in 1983. Pagara Walker, 1856 and Neoplynes Hampson, 1900 are transferred from Lithosiinae to Arctiinae. Lectotypes are designated for Arctia incorrupta Henry Edwards, 1881, and Arctia incorrupta Henry Edwards, 1881. Two new combinations are proposed: Cisthene tenuifascia schwarziorum Dyar, 1899, and Trocodima fuscipes (Grote, 1883). Arachnis citra verna Barnes & McDunnough, 1918 is proposed as a revised status. “Afrida” exegens Dyar, 1922 is reported for North America for the first time, but its subfamily and generic placement are uncertain. Clemensia patella (Druce, 1885) is raised from synonymy with Clemensia albata Packard, 1864. Abstract The description of a new species of an erymid lobster, Stenodactylina beardi, from the Upper Cretaceous Haslam Formation of the Nanaimo Group on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, brings to fifteen the number of Erymidae in North America. The species are arrayed within five genera based upon configuration of carapace groove morphology, resulting in two new combinations, Stenodactylina bordenensis (Copeland, 1960) and S. foersteri (Feldmann, 1979). The new species exhibits for the first time a male pleopod and accessory structures within Erymoidea. We also provide a list of the North American species of Erymoidea.

The genus Aleurodiscus Rabenh. ex J. Schroet. (sensu lato) is an artificial assemblage of large-spored 'thelephoraceous' hymenomycetes, which can no longer be maintained as a generic unit. The generic limits and the taxonomic position of Aleurodiscus (sensu stricto) (TYPE SPECIES: A. amorphus (Pers. per Purt.: Fr.) J. Schroet.) have been discussed by the writer (1964) in a separate paper. The present work supplements this earlier work, but is concerned primarily with an appraisal of the non-amyloid-spored Aleurodisci, all of which are removed from Aleurodiscus and either assigned to other recognized genera or relegated to new genera.Accordingly, two new genera and 15 new combinations are devised here to accommodate several species formerly placed in Aleurodiscus (sensu lato). The new genera, one of which is monotypical, are Aleurocorticium Lemke, gen. nov. (TYPE SPECIES: A. acerinum (Pers. per Fr.) Lemke, gen. & comb. nov.) and Licrostroma Lemke, gen. nov. (MONOTYPE: L. subgiganteum (Berk.) Lemke, gen. & comb. nov.). The additional 13 combinations proposed are Aleurocorticium album (Viégas) Lemke, comb, nov., A. alliaceum (Quél.) Lemke, comb. nov., A. candidum (Schw.) Lemke, comb. nov. A. dryinum (Pers.) Lemke, comb. nov., A. griseo-canum (Bres.) Lemke, comb. nov., A. lepra (Berk. et Curt.) Seven of the Aleurocorticia are reported from the North American mycobiota for the first time. These seven species, five of which are described as new to science, include Aleurocorticium alliaceum (Quél.) Lemke [= Aleurodiscus alliaceus (Quél) Boidin (1957)], Aleurocorticium dryinum (Pers.) The genus Pseudocollinella Duda, 1924, treated by recent authors as part of the genus Opacifrons Duda, 1918, is redefined and revised for the Nearctic region. Pseudocollinella flavilabris (Hackman) and P. abhorrens (Roháček) are recorded from the Nearctic region for the first time. All of the above species, plus the North American species P. caelobata (Spuler), P. pellucida (Spuler), and P. sciaspidis (Spuler) and the European species P. septentrionalis (Stenhammar), P. humida (Haliday), P. jorlii (Carles-Tolrá), P. tunisica (Papp), and P. ochrea (Papp), are given as new combinations. Pseudocollinella aquilifrons Marshall, P. attractans Marshall, P. arctopellucida Marshall, P. boreosciaspidis Marshall, P. charlottensis Marshall, P. hirsutipellucida Marshall, P. parapellucida Marshall, P. parasciaspidis Marshall, and P. utapellucida Marshall are described as new. A key to all species is given and their phylogenetic relationships are discussed.

AbstractThe 11 genera of Nearctic Braconini are keyed: two of them, Myosoma Brullé with a wide pantropical range and Alienoclypeus Shenefelt, new genus, are found chiefly in the Chihuahuan desert and shrub fauna of northern Mexico and the southwestern U.S.A. and are recorded as Nearctic for the first time. Four new species are described in Myosoma: eumystax, impexum, longius, and durango. R. D. Shenefelt describes a new genus and species, Alienoclypeus insolitus. The genus Atanycolimorpha Viereck, 1913 is synonymized with Ipobracon Thomson, 1892. The genus Coeloides is revised for the Nearctic Region; 12 species are described and illustrated. Five of these are new: mexicanus, durangensis, sympitys, tsugatorus, and sonora. One species, C. rossicus (Kokujev), is Holarctic, a new subspecies, betulae, is described from Canada. The following are new synonyms: C. rufovariegatus (Provancher) = (dendroctoni Cushman), C. vancouverensis (Dalla Torre) = (brunneri Viereck), C. crocator (Kirby) = (promontorii Dalla Torre).

One hundred forty-six species of Gelechiidae including 36 new records are reported from Israel. Anarsia balioneura Meyrick, 1921 and Polyhymno chionarcha Meyrick, 1913 are recorded for the first time in the Palaearctic region. Two new species are described: Metzneria freidbergi sp. nov., and Scrobipalpa aravensis sp. nov. Six new synonyms are established: Stygmatoptera Hartig, 1936 syn. nov. of Polyhymno Chambers, 1874; Eulamprotes Bradley, 1971 syn. nov. of Oxypteryx Rebel, 1911; Polyhymno abaiella Amsel, 1974 syn. nov. of Polyhymno chionarcha, Meyrick, 1913; Gelechia haifella Amsel, 1935 syn. nov. of Athrips rancidella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1854); Sophronia catharurga Meyrick, 1923 and Sophronia parahumerella Amsel, 1935 syn. nov. of Pseudosophronia exustellus (Zeller, 1847). Photographs of the type specimens of most taxa described from Israel and Palestine are presented. The following species are removed from the list of Gelechiidae of Israel: Nothris sulcella Staudinger, 1879, N. skyvai Karsholt & Šumpich, 2015, Anarsia spartiella Schrank, 1802, Megacraspedus cerussatellus Rebel, 1930, Oxypteryx atrella (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Isophrictis anthemidella (Wocke, 1871), Metzneria metzneriella (Stainton, 1851), Scrobipalpa otregata Povolný, 1972, Scrobipalpa nitentella (Fuchs, 1902), Scrobipalpa remota Povolný, 1972, Scrobipalpa salinella (Zeller, 1847) and Ephysteris diminutella (Zeller, 1847). Moreover, Stomopteryx remissella (Zeller, 1847) is recorded as new to the Altai Mountains of Russia, Anarsia balioneura Meyrick, 1921 is new to Cyprus and Libya, Polyhymno dumonti (Hartig, 1936) is new to Libya and Sudan, Scrobipalpa superstes is new to Greece, Stenolechia gemmella (Linnaeus, 1758) is new to Jordan and Polyhymno chionarcha is new to Saudi Arabia.
