Although the literature frequently examines achieving an integrated supply chain and participating in information sharing with supply chain partners, there is little guidance given to firms on how to progress to a state where these goals can become reality. This paper examines the struggles of one firm in moving toward information sharing with its suppliers and its hopes of achieving an integrated supply chain. This paper reveals lessons learned from the difficulties the firm encountered during the integration process. Despite putting an information system in place, the company discovered that people issues matter as much, if not more, than technology issues.

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of Supply Chain Management on the performance of the company. This study uses 165 manufacturing employees in Indonesia as a sample through www.googledocs.com. The analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and processed using Lisrel 8.7. The research proves that information sharing, long term relations, cooperation and integration process, positively and significantly influence the company's performance. But Long Term Relations has no significantly influence on the company’s performance. Keywords: Supply chain management. Information Sharing, Long Term Relations, Cooperation, Process Integration, the company’s performance

In recent years, academic and industry areas are both show an interest in supply chain management (SCM). The globalization of competition, the reduce in product life cycle, time depending competition and quick exchanges make the firms think about re-designing their supply chains. With the view of these evolutions, firms decided that they must use information technologies in their SCM. In future, information flow will be the key factor to determine the levels and the difference between firms. Information flow occurs with the integration of information technologies with the systems. The success factor for a firm is to add value from gathering, operating and dispatching information and develop the work model to have this value. Processing this model depends on achieving information sharing between supply chain members. Information sharing is a critical factor between supply chain members. The data shared between supply chain members becomes useful information for the members. So, determining the shared data and measuring this share is an important issue. This study includes information sharing measurement model between integrated supply chain members. The model starts with gathering data with a survey and continues converting these quantitative data’s to qualitative data’s by structured equations. The qualitative data’s used in an artificial intelligence method, inductive learning. Rules extraction is made by an inductive learning method, RULESX. With these rules, information sharing among supply chain members can be measured and suggestions can be made to firms for improving their SCM’s. This model is sector-independent and can be easily applied.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of supply chain management on organizational performance. This research uses data from 32 organizations engaged in brown sugar production in Central Java through www.googledocs.com. Analysis using structural equation information sharing (SEM). The results showed that information sharing, cooperation and integration process had a positive and significant effect on organizational performance. However, longterm relations proved to have no significant effect on organizational performance.

This chapter explains the overview of information system (IS) in global supply chain, the interorganizational information system (IOS) integration in global supply chain, the overview of information integration in global supply chain, and the overview of information sharing in global supply chain. Successful SCM can provide the high level of business planning and decision support concerning supply chain-related activities that involve the coordination of organization-wide distribution processes, the sharing of information, and the integration of information. Information sharing and information integration through effective IS can significantly improve the way supply chains and their supply chain partners do business, especially in the perspectives of globalization and outsourcing, toward continuing to have an accomplished effect on supply chain operations. The chapter argues that advocating IS, information integration, and information sharing has the potential to increase supply chain performance and gain sustainable competitive advantage in global supply chain.

This research utilizes case study methodology based on longitudinal interviews over a decade coupled with secondary data sources to juxtapose Tesla with two high-profile past mega-projects in the electric transportation industry, EV-1 and Better Place. The theory of constraints serves as a lens to identify production and market bottlenecks for the dissemination of electric vehicles. The valuable lessons learned from EV1 failure and Better Place bankruptcy paved the way for Tesla’s operations strategy to build gigafactories which bears a resemblance to Ford T mass production last century. Specifically, EV1 relied on external suppliers to develop batteries, while Better Place was dependent on a single manufacturer to build cars uniquely compatible with its charging infrastructure, whereas Tesla established a closed-loop, green, vertically integrated supply chain consisting of batteries, electric cars and charging infrastructure to meet its customers evolving needs. The analysis unveils several limitations of the Tesla business model which can impede its worldwide expansion, such as utility grid overload and a shortage of raw material, which Tesla strives to address by innovating advanced batteries and further extending its vertically integrated supply chain to the mining industry. The study concludes by sketching fruitful possible avenues for future research.
