In this article, we use the experience of Gaia Fulfilment to demonstrate the challenges of developing and deploying collateral fulfillment, i.e., short-run print on demand via the Web. By discussing the technological innovations that Gaia achieved we will outline their product development steps and the solutions the technology enabled. We also show the benefits of collateral fulfillment by presenting two examples of customers that use Gaia’s technology. The paper concludes with the challenges that Gaia faced and ways they attempted to resolve them.

Remiantis anketinės apklausos, giluminio interviu bei mokslinės literatūros analize, atskleistas Lietuvių kalbos instituto mokslininkų, esamų ir potencialių knygų autorių, požiūris į skaitmeninę leidybą, įvardytos priežastys, kuo akademinei leidyklai skaitmeninė leidyba yra paranki, ir išnagrinėti trys leidybos modeliai (Born-Digital, Print on Demand, Short run digital printing), naudotini plečiant leidyklos akademinės leidybos apimtis. Prieita prie išvados, kad Lietuvių kalbos instituto leidykloje skaitmeninė leidyba turi visas prielaidas būti sparčiai plėtojama, siekiant ekonominio pranašumo, rizikos minimizavimo ir patogumo.

Print on Demand Ausgabe (Lieferzeit ca. 3-4 Tage) Dieses Buch gibt einen vollständigen und aktuellen Überblick über "Public Relations" in Theorie und Praxis. Nach einer Klärung des Begriffs erläutert es die Beziehung von PR zu anderen Konzepten wie Propaganda oder Marketing und diskutiert das Verhältnis von Kommunikationswissenschaft und PR. Dabei werden Probleme wie Theoriebildung, von Theorie und Empirie sowie der Verwertbarkeit wissenschaftlicher Befunde und Ethik behandelt. Die Entwicklung der deutschen PR-Theorie schließt sich an. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bilden die PR-Theorien, die auf die Managementfunktion von PR verweisen. Die aktuelle Diskussion um PR als symmetrischer Dialog wird ebenso behandelt wie neue systemtheoretische Ansätze.

This article aims to propose a new model of technological innovations, as well as using it in a case study in the automotive industry. After an analysis of the main scientific databases, it was verified that the present work is unprecedented in presenting a unified model of identification and management of technological innovations. In methodological terms, the bibliometric and systemic analyzes were performed in order to identify the main technological innovations inherent in the automotive industry. In terms of research results, a cohesive innovation model was obtained, which, once based on the concepts of sensitive innovation and latent innovation, allows the identification and the consequent valuation of the economic potential of the main technological innovations in the area desired by the manager who will apply it. As an example, the model was applied specifically in the automotive sector, but its methodology can be generalized to any area of industrial production.
