Intelligent Bidding in Smart Electricity Markets

This paper has two aims. Firstly, to briefly present overall objectives and expected outcome of an on-going effort concerning design, implementation and the analysis of next generation energy systems based on anticipatory control and a set of ICT emerging technologies and innovations. Secondly, to describe an early proof-of-concept implementation and the associated experimentation of a simulation platform focused on holistic detailed studies of electric energy markets. The proposed platform allows us to elucidate issues related to the open and smart participation of producers and consumers on large-scale e-markets. Based on an existing simulation system, the authors present the required theoretical studies, the enabling technologies, and the practical tools that contribute to the development of such a platform capable of truly large scale simulations. Elements of game theory are utilized to solve the optimization problem related to the maximization of the social welfare of producers and consumers. Selected simulation results associated with the basic required characteristics are presented.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to aim mainly at social public decision-making problems, studies the corresponding relationship between different voting rule combinations and the final results, and discusses the quantitative relationships between group intelligence (final votes) and individual intelligence (everyone) to defend democracy under the circumstance of rapid development of network technology, and crowd intelligence becomes more complicated and universal. Design/methodology/approach After summarizing the crowd co-decisions of related studies, the standards, frameworks, techniques, methods and tools have been discussed according to the characteristics of large-scale simulations. Findings The contributions of this paper will be useful for both academics and practitioners for formulating VV&A in large-scale simulations. Originality/value This paper will help researchers solve the social public decision-making problems in large-scale simulations.

We propose a new approach for using GPUs in large scale simulations of pedestrian evacuation. The Social Distances Model is designed for efficient modeling of pedestrian dynamics. This cellular automata based model, when implemented on the most modern GPUs, can simulate up to 106–108 entities. However, a valuable simulation of pedestrian evacuation must include various factors that govern pedestrian movement, for example, information provided by event organizers and navigation or allocation of other pedestrians. The most common method for introducing such information into simulations is the application of different floor fields. The floor fields provide “local knowledge” that affects pedestrians by modifying the transition functions of an applied cellular automaton. The main disadvantage of this method is its time consuming updating process. We propose a GPU based calculation of static and dynamic floor fields, whereby simulations that use several different floor fields can be efficiently calculated. A single GPU is able to cope with the Social Distance Model calculations, while other GPUs update dynamic floor fields constantly or when required. We also present the classic approach to performing cellular automata based simulations on systems with multiple processing units. The lattice is simply partitioned between the available GPUs. We compare these two approaches in terms of performance and functionality.

The article is devoted to the study of the constitutional principle of the constitutional principle of the freedom of contract for contractual relations between energy distribution organizations and consumers of electric energy in retail electricity markets. Doctrinal approaches to understanding constitutional principles, their relationship and mutual influence, which are the basis of the study of the question posed in the study, are considered. The authors' conclusions are based on analysis: legislation on electricity, in terms of regulation of legal relations in retail electricity markets; Energy distribution regimes; the design of power supply contracts and electricity purchases; imperative provisions of the electricity legislation in contractual relations. As a result, it is concluded that the doctrinal principles of contract freedom in retail electricity markets, when contracting the purchase and sale of electricity and energy supply, operate in two of its manifestations, both in full and taking into account the necessary restrictions (features, exemptions) related, first of all, to the constitutional principle of the social state.

Re-creating the social, economic and demographic life-cycles of ordinary people is one way in which historians might engage with the complex continuities and changes which underlay the development of early modern communities. Little, however, has been written on the ways in which historians might deploy computers, rather than card indexes, to the task of identifying such life cycles from the jumble of the sources generated by local and national administration. This article suggests that multiple-source linkage is central to historical and demographic analysis, and reviews, in broad outline, some of the procedures adopted in a study which aims at large scale life cycle reconstruction.

FQ books editor Carla Marcantonio guides readers through the 33rd edition of Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival held each year in Bologna at the end of June. Highlights of this year's festival included a restoration of one of Vittorio De Sica's hard-to-find and hence lesser-known films, the social justice fairy tale, Miracolo a Milano (Miracle in Milan, 1951). The film was presented by De Sica's daughter, Emi De Sica, and was an example of the ongoing project to restore De Sica's archive, which was given to the Cineteca de Bologna in 2016. Marcantonio also notes her unexpected responses to certain reviewings; Apocalypse Now: Final Cut (2019), presented by Francis Ford Coppola on the large-scale screen of Piazza Maggiore and accompanied by remastered Dolby Atmos sound, struck her as a tour-de-force while a restoration of David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986) had lost some of its strange allure.

Reading short stories “Suku Pompong” (Pompong Tribe) and “Rumah di Ujung Kampung” (House at the End of the Village) is like reading a historical reality that is happening on the ground of Riau Malay. The exploitation of forest resources on a large scale in recent decades in Riau Province has changed the land use of the area of intact forest into plantation area. The exploitation process causes friction in the community. The friction is eventually lead to conflict between communities and plantation companies. Their struggle to resolve conflicts and maintain their ancestral land, the strength of the company that has the license to the land and sadness when the public finally has always been on the losing side. This study objected to describe the objective reality of the Malay community in terms of land conversion, the communal land into plantations and reality of imaginative literature contained in the short stories “Suku Pompong” dan “Rumah di Ujung Kampung”. This study applied the sociology of literature approach, while the sociological approach to literature is a literary approach that specializes in reviewing literature by considering the social aspects. Based on these approaches, it can be concluded that short stories Suku Pompong and Rumah di Ujung Jalan are short stories that raised the reality of the Malay community.AbstrakMembaca cerpen “Suku Pompong” dan cerpen “Rumah di Ujung Kampung” seperti membaca sebuah realita sejarah yang terjadi di tanah Melayu Riau. Ekploitasi sumber daya hutan secara besar-besaran pada beberapa dekade terakhir di Provinsi Riau telah mengubah tata guna lahan dari kawasan hutan yang utuh menjadi kawasan perkebunan. Proses eksploitasi tersebut menimbulkan gesekan-gesekan dalam masyarakat. Gesekan-gesekan inilah yang akhirnya menimbulkan konflik antara masyarakat dengan pihak perusahaan perkebunan. Perjuangan masyarakat dalam menyelesaikan konflik dan mempertahankan tanah leluhur mereka, kekuatan pihak perusahaan yang memiliki surat izin atas tanah tersebut, dan kesedihan ketika masyarakat akhirnya selalu berada di pihak yang kalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan realitas objektif masyarakat Melayu Riau dalam hal alih fungsi lahan, dari lahan tanah ulayat menjadi lahan perkebunan, dan realititas imajinatif sastra yang terdapat dalam cerpen “Suku Pompong” dan cerpen “Rumah di Ujung Kampung”. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra, yaitu suatu pendekatan sastra yang mengkhususkan diri dalam menelaah karya sastra dengan mempertimbangkan segi-segi sosial kemasyarakatan. Dari pendekatan tersebut dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa cerpen “Suku Pompong” dan cerpen “Rumah di Ujung Kampung” memang merupakan cerpen yang mengangkat realitas masyarakat Melayu Riau.
