Namen prispevka je ovrednotiti upravljanje s krajinskimi značilnostmi v Sloveniji in opredeliti ključne potrebe na področju njihove identifikacije, ukrepov in podpornih sistemov za njihovo ohranjanje. Instrumenti kmetijske politike še ne omogočajo ohranjanja krajinskih značilnosti v zadostni meri in so deloma celo spodbudili njihovo izginjanje. Glavni oviri pri oblikovanju učinkovitejših ukrepov sta pomanjkanje podatkovnih virov in neupravičenost večine krajinskih značilnosti do dohodkovnih podpor. Predlagane izboljšave vključujejo natančnejšo opredelitev krajinskih značilnosti, vključitev v ukrepe z jasno intervencijsko logiko ter okrepitev podatkovnih baz in sistemov spremljanja. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the management of landscape features in Slovenia and to identify key needs in terms of their identification, measures and support systems for their conservation. Agricultural policy instruments do not yet allow for the preservation of landscape features (LF) to a sufficient extent and have partly also encouraged their removal. The main obstacles to forming effective public interventions to conserve LF are the lack of data sources and ineligibility of most landscape features for income support. Consequently, a more precise definition of LF, incorporation into measures with a clear intervention logic and the strengthening of databases and monitoring systems are needed. Knowledge gaps related to LF typology, their interactions with agricultural ecosystems and approaches to long-term preservation should also be addressed.

In the process of creating records the role of IT professionals in present time increased, especially if we compare the role of IT professionals in record management and preservation of not born digital records. The author will try to define the role of archivists in the process of creating, managing, appraising and preserving e-records, as well as the role of IT professionals in the same process. Definition of both will be specified through analysing the processes in life of e-records and what professional and scientific approaches are necessary for long-term preservation of e-records. Through this analyse the author will try to specify what knowledge of both professions are actually necessary in the specific period in life of e-record and to emphasize the need of educating IT professionals in the field of basics of archival science to reach the goal of e-archives according to archival standards and principles.

Data warehouses are used in many application domains, and there is no established method for their preservation. A data warehouse can be implemented in multidimensional structures or in relational databases that represent the dimensional model concepts in the relational model. The focus of this work is on describing the dimensional model of a data warehouse and migrating it to an XML model, in order to achieve a long-term preservation format. This chapter presents the definition of the XML structure that extends the SIARD format used for the description and archive of relational databases, enriching it with a layer of metadata for the data warehouse components. Data Warehouse Extensible Markup Language (DWXML) is the XML language proposed to describe the data warehouse. An application that combines the SIARD format and the DWXML metadata layer supports the XML language and helps to acquire the relevant metadata for the warehouse and to build the archival format.

We evaluate the impact of China’s new air pollution standards on sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions by comparing newly available data from Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) at coal power plants with satellite measures. First, we show that following the July 2014 deadline for implementing tighter emissions standards, stack concentrations of SO2 reported by CEMS declined by 13.9%. Second, on average the ratios of the declines of SO2 measures in the satellite data and the CEMS data are about 0.5. However, the degree of correspondence between the two data sources varies by policy stringency, with weak correspondence found in key regions facing the toughest new limits. Third, large plants achieved compliance earlier than small (typically) power and heat cogeneration plants. To achieve continued air quality improvement, our results suggest a need for increased scrutiny of emissions data quality and monitoring practices and clear long-term targets.

A warm welcome to our "World of Difference" to all delegates attending this conference - we hope your stay is enjoyable and that you will leave Central Otago with an enhanced appreciation of the diversity of land use and the resilient and growing economic potential that this region has to offer. Without regional wellbeing the national economy will struggle to grow, something Central Government finally seems to be realising, and the Central Otago District Council Long Term Plan 2012-2022 (LTP) signals the importance of establishing a productive economy for the local community which will aid in the economic growth of the district and seeks to create a thriving economy that will be attractive to business and residents alike. Two key principles that underpin the LTP are sustainability and affordability, with the definition of sustainability being "… development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

Patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and ophthalmic hypertension have an increased likelihood of developing occlusions (thrombosis) of the central retinal vein. Different groups of antihypertensive drugs differ in their mechanism of action and may affect concomitant ocular pathology, in particular, retinal edema, which occurs, for example, in occlusion of the central retinal vein. Used in most patients with glaucoma, prostaglandin analogs can contribute to the long-term preservation of macular edema due to the effect on the permeability of the vascular wall. Preparations of other pharmacological groups, reducing the production of aqueous humor, on the contrary, may contribute to its regression. Therefore, the question of choosing a drug for antihypertensive therapy in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and concomitant macular edema is relevant and is for further study.
