In this paper we study long-time behavior of first-order non-autono-mous lattice dynamical systems in square summable space of double-sided sequences using the cooperation between the discretized diffusion operator and the discretized reaction term. We obtain existence of a pullback global attractor and construct pullback exponential attractor applying the introduced notion of quasi-stability of the corresponding evolution process.

We consider a modification of the so-called phase-field crystal (PFC) equation introduced by K. R. Elder et al. This variant has recently been proposed by P. Stefanovic et al. to distinguish between elastic relaxation and diffusion time scales. It consists of adding an inertial term (i.e. a second-order time derivative) into the PFC equation. The mathematical analysis of the resulting equation is more challenging with respect to the PFC equation, even at the well-posedness level. Moreover, its solutions do not regularize in finite time as in the case of PFC equation. Here we analyze the modified PFC (MPFC) equation endowed with periodic boundary conditions. We first prove the global existence and uniqueness of a solution with initial data in a bounded energy space. This solution satisfies some uniform dissipative estimates which allow us to study the long-time behavior of the corresponding dynamical system. In particular, we establish the existence of the global attractor as well as an exponential attractor. Then we demonstrate that any trajectory originating from the bounded energy phase space converges to a single equilibrium. This is done by means of a suitable version of the Łojasiewicz–Simon inequality. An estimate on the convergence rate is also given.

Abstract In this work, we examine first-order lattice dynamical systems, which are discretized versions of reaction–diffusion equations on the real line. We prove the existence of a global attractor in $$\ell ^2$$ℓ2, and using the method by Chueshov and Lasiecka (Dynamics of quasi-stable dissipative systems, Springer, Berlin, 2015; Memoirs of the American Mathematical Society, vol 195(912), AMS, 2008), we estimate its fractal dimension. We also show that the global attractor is contained in a finite-dimensional exponential attractor. The approach relies on the interplay between the discretized diffusion and reaction, which has not been exploited as yet for the lattice systems. Of separate interest is a characterization of positive definiteness of the discretized Schrödinger operator, which refers to the well-known Arendt and Batty’s result (Differ Int Equ 6:1009–1024, 1993).

Our aim in this paper is to study the long-time behavior for a class of doubly nonlinear parabolic equations. First we show that the problem has a unique solution. Then we prove that the semigroup corresponding to the problem is norm-to-weak continuous in Lq and H01. Finally we establish the existence of global attractor of the problem in Lq and H01.

The long time behavior of solutions of the nonautonomous three-components reversible Gray-Scott system defined on the entire spaceℝnis studied when the external forcing terms are unbounded in a phase space. The existence of a pullback global attractor for the equation is established inL2ℝn3andH1ℝn3, respectively. The pullback asymptotic compactness of solutions is proved by using uniform estimates on the tails of solutions on unbounded domains.

In this paper, we prove the long time behavior of bounded solutions to a first order gradient-like system with low damping and perturbation terms. Our convergence results are obtained under some hypotheses of KurdykaLojasiewicz inequality and the angle and comparability condition. This is an Open Access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium provided the original work is properly cited.
