Since the publication of the Solanaceae treatment in “Flora Argentina” in 2013 exploration in the country and resolution of outstanding nomenclatural and circumscription issues has resulted in a number of changes to the species of the Morelloid clade of Solanum L. (Solanaceae) for Argentina. Here we describe three new species: Solanum hunzikeri Chiarini & Cantero, sp. nov., from wet high elevation areas in Argentina (Catamarca, Salta and Tucumán) and Bolivia (Chuquisaca and Tarija), S. marmoratum Barboza & S. Knapp, sp. nov., from central Argentina in Catamarca, La Pampa, La Rioja, San Juan and San Luis, and S. tiinae Barboza & S. Knapp, sp. nov., from the mountains of Jujuy, La Rioja, Salta and Tucumán. We provide descriptions, illustrations and distribution maps for all new taxa. A table of nomenclatural changes and additional taxa now known to occur in Argentina summarizes additions and changes since the “Flora Argentina”. We also provide an updated key, including all new taxa for the country, to facilitate identification and further exploration.

Based on the collection of the Zoological Research Institute and Museum Alexander Koenig, Germany, Bonn, two new species of the genera Lygephila Billberg, 1820 and Apopestes Hübner, [1823] are described from China. The new taxa belong to the subfamily Catocalinae, tribe Toxocampini: Lygephila stueningi, sp. n., Lygephila longicoecum sp. n., and Apopestes curiosa sp. n. The new subgnenus Sinocampa, subgen. n. (type species Lygephila longicoecum, sp. n.) of the genus Lygephila is described. The adults and male and female genitalia are illustrated, and distribution maps of the new species are presented.

Three new species of potamonautid freshwater crabs are described from the Lake Victoria region in southern Uganda, East Africa. Two of the new species (Potamonautes busungwe sp. nov. and P. entebbe sp. nov.) are from the shores of Lake Victoria, while the third (P. kantsyore sp. nov.) is from an inland locality on the Kagera River that flows into the lake. In addition, two of the new taxa (P. busungwe sp. nov. and P. kantsyore sp. nov.) are among the smallest species of freshwater crabs so far known from Africa. Diagnoses, illustrations and distribution maps are provided for these taxa, which are compared to similar species from Uganda and elsewhere in East Africa.

Three new species of Anaulacomera are described, Anaulacomera (Anaulacomera) mariellae sp. n. and Anaulacomera (Anallomes) arlindoi sp. n., belonging respectively to the Inermis and Lanceolata species group, and Anaulacomera angelinae sp. n., placed as incertae sedis. The individuals were collected at the Iguaçu National Park and adjacent small fragments of Atlantic Forest, in southwestern Paraná state, Brazil. The description was based on external morphology of males. We also present distribution maps for the species of the Inermis and the Lanceolata species groups.

Six new species of the genus Cenophengus LeConte, 1881 are described. Five of these new species were collected in Mexico, in the states of Hidalgo (Cenophengus mboi sp. nov. and Cenophengus hnogamu̱i sp. nov.), Coahuila (Cenophengus kikapu sp. nov.) and San Luis Potosí (Cenophengus tupae sp. nov., Cenophengus mumui sp. nov.). An additional species was collected in Puerta Parada, Guatemala (Cenophengus xiinbali sp. nov.). The new taxa described in the present study increase to 27 the number of species assigned to Cenophengus.

The Brazilian species of Bittacus Latreille (Mecoptera: Bittacidae) are reviewed and one new synonym is proposed (Thyridates willmanni Collucci & Amorin syn. n. of Bittacus diversinervis Souza Lopes & Mangabeira). Three new species are herein described: Bittacus cruzi sp. n. from Amazonas, Presidente Figueiredo and Manaus, B. ferreirai sp. n. from Bahia, Aracatu and B. varzeanus sp. n. from Amazonas, Tefé, bringing the current number of Bittacus species in Brazil to 18. Illustrations, comments, and distribution maps of each species are presented. An identification key to the Brazilian genera of Mecoptera and Bittacus species is also presented.

We review species of Parodon Valenciennes, 1850 from the Magdalena, Cauca, Orinoco, Amazonas, Atrato and Caribbean-Guajira River basins of Colombia using meristic and morphological characters. We recognize eight valid species, five previously described: P. apolinari Myers, from the Orinoco River basin; P. buckleyi Boulenger and P. pongoensis (Allen) from the upper Amazon; P. caliensis Boulenger, from the upper Cauca River drainage; and P. suborbitalis Valenciennes, from Lake Maracaibo basin. Three new species are described: P. alfonsoi, from the lower Magdalena River drainage; P. magdalenensis, from the middle Magdalena and upper Cauca River drainages; and P. atratoensis, from the Atrato River basin. We redescribe Parodon suborbitalis using type specimens and topotypes, and designate lectotypes. A taxonomic key is included for identification of the species, as well as geographic distribution maps.

A systematic review of the genus Abiskomyia Edwards, 1937 is presented based on materials from the Russian Far East and bordering territories. Three new species: A. korbokhon sp. nov., A. levanidovi sp. nov., A. rivalis sp. nov. and one subspecies A. virgo orientalis subsp. nov. are described and figured. Emended generic diagnoses and keys to determination of adult males, pupae and fourth instar larvae of all known species and subspecies of the Abiskomyia of the Palaearctic region are provided.

Sectus gen. nov. was proposed on the basis of genitalic features. Two new combinations have resulted, Sectus peruviana (Chopard, 1956) comb. nov. and Sectus hainanensis (He et al., 2010) comb. nov. Three new species, Anaxipha nigritorquis sp. nov., Metiochodes gracilus sp. nov. and Sectus integrum sp. nov., are described and illustrated.

AbstractFungi can colonize most of the substrata on Earth. Honey, a sugary food produced by bees (and other insects) has been studied little in terms of its fungal diversity. We have surveyed and evaluated the presence of xerotolerant and xerophilic fungi in a set of honey bee samples collected from across Spain. From 84 samples, a total of 104 fungal strains were isolated, and morphologically and phylogenetically characterized. We identified 32 species distributed across 16 genera, most of them belonging to the ascomycetous genera Aspergillus, Bettsia, Candida, Eremascus, Monascus, Oidiodendron, Penicillium, Skoua, Talaromyces and Zygosaccharomyces. As a result of this survey, eight new taxa are proposed: i.e. the new family Helicoarthrosporaceae, two new genera, Helicoarthrosporum and Strongyloarthrosporum in Onygenales; three new species of Eurotiales, Talaromyces affinitatimellis, T. basipetosporus, and T. brunneosporus; and two new species of Myxotrichaceae, Oidiodendron mellicola, and Skoua asexualis.

The genus Synaxis is synonymized with Tetracis. The thirteen North American species in genus Tetracis (some formerly in Synaxis) are discussed, including descriptions of three new species from western North America: Tetracis australis, T. montanaria, T. pallidata. Two additional species, “Synaxis” triangulata and “S.” brunneilinearia are excluded. A key to species, descriptions, check list, illustrations of adults and genitalia, and distribution maps are included. The formerly presumed lost types of the taxa aurantiacaria, cervinaria, and jubararia were located and are illustrated.
