A new species of Theaceae, Camellia puhoatensis N.S. Lý, V.D. Luong, T.H. Le, D.H. Nguyen & N.D. Do, sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Nghe An Province, North Central Coastal Region, Vietnam. It is most similar to C. chrysanthoides, C. flavida and C. petelotii within sect. Archecamellia in shape and colouration of leaf, petal, ovary and glabrous stamen, but differs by its young puberulous shoot, mature leaf sparsely puberulous abaxially and leaf base rounded or broadly obtuse, petiole and pedicel puberulous, tepals 12–13, ovary and style pubescent. The comparison between the new species and C. velutina and C. dormoyana is presented. Data on distribution, ecology, phenology, use and provisional conservation assessment of the new species are given along with an illustration and a colour plate.

A new species of Dasymaschalon (Annonaceae), D. bachmaensis, from Bạch Mã NP, Thừa Thiên-Huế Province from North Central Coast region, Vietnam, is described and illustrated here. It shares several characteristics with D. glaucum, D. sootepense and D. wallichii (the leaves are glaucous, the petals are somewhat ovate and spirally twisted when mature, the stamen connectives are truncate and glabrous, the ovaries are hairy, and the stigmas are glabrous) but differs from them in having an obtuse leaf base, larger triangular-ovate sepals that are hairy on both surfaces, pale greenish-yellow petals, fewer stamens, smaller fruits that are not constricted between seeds, and smaller subglobose seeds. Details on distribution, ecology, phenology preliminary conservation assessment of D. bachmaensis, a key to Dasymaschalon species in Vietnam and a distribution map are provided.

Didymoplexiella laosensis is described as a new species from the limestone mountains of Vang Vieng District in central Laos. A detailed description, colour plate, line drawings and conservation assessment are provided, together with morphological comparisons with three allied species in tropical Asia, namely, D. ornata, D. siamensis and D. trichechus. With the leasing of its limestone habitat to a mining company for cement production, the threat to D. laosensis is already evident.

A new species of Tradescantia sect. Austrotradescantia endemic to rocky cliffs in Southern Brazil, is here described as Tradescantia seubertiana. This new species is characterized as being completely glabrous, with a leaf base obtuse to cordate to slightly amplexicaulous, ellipsoid flower buds, by its light-pink to pink petals, and for growing in wet rocky cliffs. The new species is morphologically most similar to T. crassula due to its erect habit, conduplicate to canaliculate, succulent leaves, with inconspicuous secondary veins, non-saccate cincinni bracts, pistil longer than the stamens and hilum longer than ½ the length of the seed. I present a description, an illustration, a distribution map, habitat description, and a conservation assessment for the new species. I also present a comparison and identification key for the species related to T. seubertiana.

Zingiber vuquangense, a new species of Zingiberaceae, is described and illustrated from North Central Coast region of Vietnam. It is most similar to Z. cornubracteatum, but differs by its smaller plant, longer ligules and petiole, leaf shape, colour of bract, bracteole and flower, and fruit shape. Data on distribution, habitat, vernacular name and uses, a distribution map and a colour plate of the new species are presented.

A new species of Gesneriaceae, Didymocarpus phuquocensis, is described and illustrated from Phu Quoc National Park, Kien Giang Province, South-western Vietnam. It is most similar to D. pulcher, D. hookeri and D. punduanus in having 3-verticillate petiolate leaves, morphologically similar calyx, corolla, stamens, pistil and fruit, but differs from all in the glandular-pubescent stems, petioles and leaf blades, 1(–2)-flowered cymes, longer corolla and fruit and longer and densely glandular-puberulent ovary. Data on distribution, ecology, phenology and provisional conservation assessment of the new species are given along with an illustration and a colour plate.

A new species, Muscari inundatum (Asparagaceae) from Turkey, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to M. neglectum and M. adilii, but differs mainly by its shouldered fertile flowers with erect to slightly recurved lobes at maturity. In this study, a comprehensive description, diagnostic characters, original photographs, detailed illustration, geographical distribution, conservation assessment, identification key, and taxonomic comments on the new species are presented.

Taxonomic issues regarding three species of Styrax ser. Valvatae in Brazil are addressed. Styrax bahiensis, a new species from Bahia state, northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. It is similar to S. pallidus in its leaves of similar size and anther thecae that exceed the connective, but differs by coriaceous leaf blades with a revolute margin, leaf domatia up to 0.7 mm long and flat or rarely slightly bulging, a yellow- or orange-stellate-tomentulose calyx abaxially, and spreading corolla lobes. The species is known only from the type collection gathered over 50 years ago. Styrax griseus is placed in synonymy under S. kuhlmannii, a species from central Brazil, and a lectotype is provided for S. kuhlmannii. An updated description and estimate of the geographic distribution of S. pauciflorus are provided, as well as a lectotype and conservation assessment for this species.
