Here we present a revised species checklist for the Brassicaceae, updated from Warwick SI, Francis, A, Al-Shehbaz IA (2006), Brassicaceae: Species checklist and database on CD-ROM, Plant Systematics and Evolution 259: 249─25. This update of the checklist was initiated, based on recent taxonomic and molecular studies on the Brassicaceae that have resulted in new species names, combinations and associated synonyms. New data have been added indicating tribal affiliations within the family and where type specimens have been designated. In addition, information from many early publications has been checked and added to the database. The database now includes information on 14983 taxa, 4636 of which are currently accepted and divided into 340 genera and 52 tribes. A selected bibliography of recent publications on the Brassicaceae is included.

Twelve new species are assigned to the genus Otitoma Jousseaume, 1898 in the family Pseudomelatomidae Morrison, 1966 and herein described: O. hadra sp. nov., O. neocaledonica sp. nov., O. rubiginostoma sp. nov and O. tropispira sp. nov. from New Caledonia; O. boucheti sp. nov., O. nereidum sp. nov. and O. sororcula sp. nov. from the Fiji Islands; O. xantholineata sp. nov. from the Solomon to the Fiji Islands; O. crassivaricosa sp. nov. from Fiji to Hiva Oa Island (Marquesas Archipelago); O. philpoppei sp. nov. from the Philippines but also reported from the Fiji Islands; O. elegans sp. nov. from the Fiji Islands and O. philippinensis sp. nov. from the Philippines. New data on O. carnicolor (Hervier, 1896) are provided. Otitoma mitra (Kilburn, 1986), from Southern Mozambique, is here considered a synonym of O. cyclophora (Deshayes, 1863). Drillia batjanensis Schepman, 1913, previously assigned to the genus Maoritomella Powell, 1942 in the family Borsoniidae Bellardi, 1875, is here assigned to the genus Otitoma. Photographs of the holotype of Drillia batjanensis are provided for the first time. In addition, color photographs of the type specimens of the following species are provided: Drillia kwandangensis Schepman, 1913, D. timorensis Schepman, 1913 and Mitrellatoma mitra Kilburn, 1986.

Species previously attributed to Necrotauliidae are revised from the Late Triassic and Early Jurassic of England based on examination of type specimens and non-type material. The necrotauliids have been considered as a basal family of caddisflies (Trichoptera) or as a paraphyletic assemblage of stem-amphiesmenopterans. Herein a new genus, Austaulius, is erected which includes all Lilstock Formation∖Lower Lias material from England; the previously described species are synonymized with A. furcatus and a new species, A. haustrum, is described from the Dorset Coast, the holotype of which preserves synapomorphic traits of the Trichoptera not previously described suggesting that the family is trichopteran. The type genus remains Necrotaulius and type species N. parvulus (Geinitz, 1884) from the type locality of Dobbertin, Germany. One species of Necrotaulius is represented in the UK, N. parvulus, which is found in the Upper Lias.

The recent rediscovery of specimens of the Baikalian lumbriculid Pseudorhynchelmis olchonensis (Burow et Koshow, 1932) led to the re-examination of (1) Michaelsen’s hundred-year-old type specimens of Lycodrilus parvus, assumed, for a long time, to have been wrongly attributed to the Tubificidae instead of the Lumbriculidae, and of (2) type specimens used by Hrabě (1982) for his redescription of Lycodrilus parvus and its combination with the newly, subsequently created genus Pseudolycodrilus Hrabě, 1982. Surprisingly enough, the original description of Pseudolycodrilus parvus (Michaelsen, 1905) proved to be based on a mixing of two different species, P. parva and Pseudorhynchelmis semernoyi sp. nov., both of which are herein assigned to the recently re-established genus Pseudorhynchelmis Hrabě, 1982. As a result, the genus Pseudolycodrilus is invalidated and must be considered as a synonym of Pseudorhynchelmis. P. parva and P. olchonensis are re-described on the basis of neotypes and lectotypes, respectively. P. semernoyi sp. nov. is distinguished from other Pseudorhynchelmis by having a conical prostomium, a well-marked clitellum with a honeycomb-like structure, and genital, sucker-like papillae, associated with penial setae. The description of the new species P. semernoyi, plus a re-evaluation of P. olchonensis, called into question the taxonomical status of Pseudorhynchelmis dissimilis (Semernoy, 2004). This study provides new examples of genital setae in the Lumbriculidae although this character remains exceptional within the family.

Twelve species of Crustacea of the family Palicidae were collected from Indonesian waters. Together with two species from the Philippines and type specimens of Crossotonotus compressipes A. Milne Edwards, 18 73, are studied and Manella spinipes is used for comparison. Two new subfamilies, four new genera, and six new species are described and the type of Crossotonotus compressipes has been designated.

The type specimens of Lecithoceridae which are deposited in the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA), Tervuren, Belgium (five species of Lecithocera Herrich-Schäffer and two of Homaloxestis Meyrick) were re-examined. The results are: 1) two species of Lecithocera are transferred to Thubdora Park and Torodora Meyrick respectively, with new combinations: Thubdora barbata (Meyrick, 1933), comb. nov. and Torodora semnodora (Meyrick, 1933), comb. nov.; 2) six species which were misidentified as L. barbata are described as new species in the genus Thubdora: T. ealeaensis sp. nov., T. ghesquierei sp. nov., T. gladiator sp. nov., T. kapangaensis sp. nov., T. neobarbata sp. nov. and T. seydeli sp. nov.; 3) four species which were misidentified as L. semnodora are described as new species in the genus Torodora: T. amplignathosa sp. nov. , T. lichanosa sp. nov., T. planusa sp. nov. and T. triloba sp. nov.; 4) L. schoutedeniella Ghesquière is transferred to Dichomeris Hübner of the family Gelechiidae; 5) Homaloxestis pancrocopa Meyrick does not belong to Homaloxestis nor to Lecithoceridae, and should be transferred to a different family of Gelechioidea; 6) a lectotype is designated for Lecithocera semnodora Meyrick, 1933; 7) the species names of Lecithocera eugenopa Meyrick and Homaloxestes chloromorpha Meyrick based on the type-labels under two specimens are revealed as unpublished manuscript names. Illustrations of the adults and their genitalia of all the types are provided.

A total of 27 species of the family Leptonetidae occurring in caves of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Southwest China, are described, including two new genera, 26 new species and one new combination as follows: Guineta gigachela gen. nov. and sp. nov.; Leptonetela anshun sp. nov., L. bama sp. nov., L. curvispinosa sp. nov., L. danxia sp. nov., L. digitata sp. nov., L. furcaspina sp. nov., L. geminispina sp. nov., L. grandispina sp. nov., L. hamata sp. nov., L. hexacantha sp. nov., L. jinsha sp. nov., L. jiulong sp. nov., L. liping sp. nov., L. maxillacostata sp. nov., L. meitan sp. nov., L. oktocantha sp. nov., L. palmata sp. nov., L. pentakis sp. nov., L. reticulopecta sp. nov., L. suae sp. nov., L. tetracantha sp. nov., L. tongzi sp. nov. and L. yangi sp. nov.; Sinoneta notabilis gen. nov. and sp. nov., S. sexdigiti sp. nov. In addition, Leptonetela quinquespinata (Chen & Zhu, 2008) is transferred from Qianleptoneta Chen & Zhu, 2008. The morphology of Guineta gen. nov. and Sinoneta gen. nov. are studied. Keys to all genera from China and 27 species from YunnanGuizhou Plateau are given. All type specimens in this study are collected from caves of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, southwestern China and are deposited at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing (IZCAS).

The genus Paratachardina Balachowsky (Hemiptera: Coccoidea: Kerriidae) is revised to include nine species: P. decorella (Maskell), P. minuta (Morrison), P. mithila Varshney, P. morobensis Williams & Watson, P. silvestri (Mahdihassan), P. ternata (Chamberlin), P. theae (Green), and two new species. Tachardina lobata Chamberlin (now P. lobata) is synonymized with Tachardia silvestri Mahdihassan (now P. silvestri), based on examination of type specimens. Paratachardina capsella Wang is transferred to Albotachardina Zhang as Albotachardina capsella (Wang) comb. nov. We provide a revised taxonomic key to the genera of the family Kerriidae and to all known species of the genus Paratachardina. All Paratachardina species are redescribed and illustrated with the exception of P. mithila. One of the new species described here is the polyphagous and pestiferous lobate lac scale, which damages trees and woody shrubs in Florida, U.S.A., the Bahamas and the territory of Christmas Island, Australia, and has been identified mistakenly as Paratachardina lobata (Chamberlin), an insect native to India and Sri Lanka. Here we recognize the lobate lac scale as a new species, name itParatachardina pseudolobata sp. nov. and describe it based on all stages of the female (adult, second instar and first instar). In addition, a second new species, P. mahdihassani sp. nov., is described based on adult females from India.

A new species of Urostylididae from the Philippine islands (Mindanao) is herein described. This new species, similar to Urolabida bipunctata Stål, 1871, differs from the latter in the shape of the external male genitalia. Urolabida bipunctata and the new species, Urolabida graziae Roca-Cusachs, sp. nov., are extremely similar in external appearance, and fit into the (incomplete) description of genus Urolabida Westwood, 1837. The examination and comparison with the type specimens of other Urostylididae species, especially the male genital capsule, clearly separates this two species from Urolabida tenera Westwood, 1837, the type species of the genus Urolabida, however the taxonomy of this group is not resolved and needs a deep revision, therefore we refrain from description of a new genus-group taxon here. Additionally, images of the type specimens of Urolabida tenera, Urostylis histrionica Westwood, 1837, and Urostylis punctigera Westwood, 1837, are provided and discussion on the current systematics and classification of the family, and particularly of genus Urolabida are also given.
