When performing high-precision geometric leveling on geodynamic and technogenic polygons, the problem of selecting a system of heights and obtaining reliable data arises, taking into account, first of all, the heterogeneity of the gravitational field along the lines of leveling. The research and development of a methodological approach to solve the above issues is the purpose of this publication. For the research process, the method of mathematical processing of a wide spectrum of geodetic and gravimetric measurements, differential and mathematical analysis, methods of conducting high-precision leveling and gravimetric works are used. During the process of field geodetic and gravimetric measurements, the values of gravitational acceleration in the mountain, foothill and plain areas were obtained, which made possible, on the basis of the mathematical dependences deduced by the author, to find corrections in the measured excesses for the non-parallelism of the level surfaces. On the basis of unique experimental level-gravimetric observations and their corresponding mathematical elaboration, numerical characteristics of gravitational acceleration for various forms of relief have been obtained. In the final case, the obtained analytic dependencies give an opportunity to take into account the influence of the non-parallelism of the level surfaces in the measured excesses or the heights of high-precision geometric leveling, without taking into account the gravitational field of the normal Earth. The proposed methodological approach to the determination of heights by high-precision geometric leveling on geodynamic and technogenic polygons may take into account the influence of the non-parallelism of the level surfaces according to the derived formulas and should be effectively used at present.

We point out that a battery may be designed so that in a gravitational field it will have a gravitationally induced emf in addition to an electrochemical one. The gravitationally induced emf of a battery with a small “effective” electrochemical potential and a long “effective” length can readily be measured to very high precision by means of any precise voltmeter, and in particular by a Josephson junction. Such a device may be employed to measure any component of the gravitational acceleration vector. It can be constructed compactly enough to be placed down a borehole. Thus, in principle it is an extremely precise and adaptable tool for geophysical exploration.

The main features of weak beam images of dislocations were first described by Cockayne et al. using calculations of intensity profiles based on the kinematical and two beam dynamical theories. The feature of weak beam images which is of particular interest in this investigation is that intensity profiles exhibit a sharp peak located at a position very close to the position of the dislocation in the crystal. This property of weak beam images of dislocations has an important application in the determination of stacking fault energy of crystals. This can easily be done since the separation of the partial dislocations bounding a stacking fault ribbon can be measured with high precision, assuming of course that the weak beam relationship between the positions of the image and the dislocation is valid. In order to carry out measurements such as these in practice the specimen must be tilted to "good" weak beam diffraction conditions, which implies utilizing high values of the deviation parameter Sg.

This article addresses one of the most actively developing types of design activities – light design. The article comprises quotes of the leading Russian and foreign light design specialists published over the previous five years, as well as the authors’ own conclusions. The thoughts quoted in the article are sometimes opposite to each other and reflect the wide spectrum of professional practice. They reflect the initial opinions of analysts and experts which are often diverging. All of the specialists point at the interdisciplinary nature of the new profession, which imposes additional load on a designer overloaded enough already by the scope and speed of the problems being solved nowadays. The discussion of the new profession of light designer initiated on the pages of professional publications is especially important in view of the development of professional standards and standards of design and architectural education, as well as creation of new educational programmes based on various approaches to the subject in technical and humanitarian institutions. The goal of this article is to introduce light design into the field of fully legitimate sections of design culture, to define the authentic scientific basis of the new creative profession, to initiate a foundation for self-determination of the new synthetic area, which materially affects the state of the profession as a whole and the life standards of a wide variety of consumers. In order to reach the set goal, a comparative and analytical method of study was selected, which allows studying the problem to a large extent and from all angles and finding the ways of overcoming the challenges emerging in the area of the new activity.

Objectives: to compare the accuracy of equations F.P. Hadlock and computer programs by V.N. Demidov in determining gestational age and fetal weight in the third trimester of gestation. Materials: 328 patients in terms 36–42 weeks of gestation are examined. Ultrasonography was performed in 0–5 days prior to childbirth. Results: it is established that the average mistake in determination of term of pregnancy when using the equation of F.P. Hadlock made 12,5 days, the computer program of V.N. Demidov – 4,4 days (distinction 2,8 times). The mistake within 4 days, when using the equation of F.P. Hadlock has met on average in 23,1 % of observations, the computer program of V.N. Demidov — 65,9 % (difference in 2,9 times). The mistake more than 10 days, took place respectively in 51,7 and 8,2 % (distinction by 6,3 times). At a comparative assessment of size of a mistake in determination of fetal mass it is established that when using the equation of F.P. Hadlock it has averaged 281,0 g, at application of the computer program of V.N. Demidov — 182,5 g (distinction of 54 %). The small mistake in the mass of a fetus which isn't exceeding 200 g at application of the equation of F.P. Hadlock has met in 48,1 % of cases and the computer program of V.N. Demidov — 64,0 % (distinction of 33,1 %). The mistake exceeding 500 g has been stated in 18 % (F.P. Hadlock) and 4,3 % (V.N. Demidov) respectively (distinction 4,2 times). Conclusions: the computer program of V.N. Demidov has high precision in determination of term of a gestation and mass of a fetus in the III pregnancy.

The results of repeated measurements of the acceleration of gravity by the Russian absolute ballistic field gravimeter GABL-M on points of oil and gas deposits in the permafrost over a five year period are presented. The changes of gravity acceleration by the absolute gravimeter and GRACE satellite were compared. The results of comparisons of differences gravity acceleration by ballistic gravimeter GABL-M and relative Canadian gravimeters CG5 were [i]shown. The errors in determination of parameters of the gravitational field ballistic gravimeter GABL-M and CG5 gravimeters group were presented. The method of measurement with the gravimeter GABL-M and the method of determining the vertical gradients relative CG5 gravity meters was described. The necessity of introducing corrections of hydrogeology is caused by influence of hydro geological factors on the gravitational field in the permafrost. They are comparable with the values of the field change in the result of gas pumping.

3D printing is a process that has become widely used in recent years, allowing the production of parts with relatively complicated shapes from metallic and non-metallic materials. In some cases, it is challenging to evaluate the ability of 3D printers to make fine details of parts. For such an assessment, the printing of samples showing intersections of surfaces with low angle values was considered. An experimental plan was designed and materialized to highlight the influence of different factors, such as the thickness of the deposited material layer, the printing speed, the cooling and filling conditions of the 3D-printed part, and the thickness of the sample. Samples using areas in the form of isosceles triangles with constant height or bases with the same length, respectively, were used. The mathematical processing of the experimental results allowed the determination of empirical mathematical models of the power-function type. It allowed the detection of both the direction of actions and the intensity of the influence exerted by the input factors. It is concluded that the strongest influence on the printer’s ability to produce fine detail, from the point of view addressed in the paper, is exerted by the vertex angle, whose reduction leads to a decrease in printing accuracy.

Professional peat-free substrates for ornamental plant production are increasingly required by nursery growers. Most promising materials are green compost, coconut coir dust, and woody fibre, used alone or in mixtures. One of the major concerns is pH, usually higher than optimal. In this work, a method based on a three-step procedure was adopted to acidify three organic matrices alone or in mixtures and to individuate the most suitable product, between iron(II) sulphate 7-hydrate and elemental sulphur chips. Firstly, the determination of the buffering capacity by dilution with sulphuric acid was carried out to determine dosages. Afterwards, an incubation trial of 84 (iron(II) sulphate) or 120 days (sulphur chips) was conducted on matrices and substrate mixtures with calculated doses in a climatic chamber maintained at 21 °C. Iron(II) sulphate resulted not suitable because it caused a rapid, but not lasting, pH lowering and an excessive electrical conductivity (EC) increase. Sulphur chips could instead guarantee an adequate and lasting pH lowering. These results were then validated in the open field trial on matrices and substrates. The proposed acidification methodology could be considered in developing new substrates, but the rapidity of pH acidification and EC increase on plant and mineral nutrition should be further investigated.
