Residential and public buildings are one of the essential energy consumers. The majority of European buildings were constructed within the period from mid-1950ies to the late 1990ies. Currently the retrofitting process is too slow. The main barriers are complicated retrofitting process, variety of available technologies as well as precision of estimated energy savings calculations. This paper is prepared in scope of work done within the European Regional Development Fund project “NEARLY ZERO ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR UNCLASSIFIED BUILDINGS”. The main aim of this study is to develop full modular retrofitting process based on 3D laser scanning minimizing time consumed for architectural project development, on-site construction works as well as to ensure correct energy simulation. Paper presents results of Latvian case building 3D scanning results, architectural project development specifics as well as selection of optimal thermal insulation layout and energy simulations. Study analyses main barriers for wide implementation of prefabricated panels.

Background:Interferon signaling pathway plays a relevant role in autoimmunity. Genetic variants in theinterferon regulatory factor (IRF) 5gene, that encodes the major regulator of the type I interferon induction [1], have been related to the development of several inflammatory diseases [2].Objectives:To determine the influence ofIRF5on Immunoglobulin-A vasculitis (IgAV), an inflammatory vascular disease.Methods:ThreeIRF5polymorphisms (rs2004640, rs2070197 and rs10954213) representative of 3 different haplotype blocks were genotyped in 372 Caucasian patients with IgAV and 876 sex and ethnically matched healthy controls.Results:No statistically significant differences between patients with IgAV and controls were observed when eachIRF5polymorphism was analyzed independently. Similarly, no statistically significant differences between patients with IgAV and controls were found whenIRF5polymorphisms were evaluated combined conforming haplotypes. Within the Active Living and Well-Being Project (RRP3), funded by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Regional Development Fund Investing in Your Future program, we aim to develop different approaches and prototype solutions to provide ICT solutions for the family in order to connect its members; communicate; promote quality family time, active life, a health-friendly lifestyle and well-being; and integrate various sensor and user-based data sources into a smart city ecosystem platform. A mixed methodology, combined qualitative and quantitative approaches, was selected to conduct the study. An online survey with a structured questionnaire as well as semi-structured interviews were performed. Through the analysis of the results, we tried to establish a family-centered design approach that would be inclusive as much as possible, creating benefits for all generations in order to develop an interactive prototype solution that would allow us to further test and verify different use-case scenarios.

Zur Steigerung der Lagerlebensdauer von Hybridwälzlagern hat das Fraunhofer Institut für Produktionstechnologie IPT gemeinsam mit Cerobear GmbH, Hegenscheidt-MFD (A Member of the NSH-Group) und Schmitz-Metallographie GmbH an der Qualifizierung und Implementierung des Verfahrens Hartwalzen in die Prozesskette zur Herstellung von Hybridwälzlagern gearbeitet. Durch die Induzierung von Druckeigenspannungen in die Lagerlauffläche konnte die Lebensdauer nachweislich erhöht werden. Die Arbeiten wurden im Rahmen des geförderten Forschungsvorhabens „Hartwalzen von Lagerringen“ durchgeführt, das aus Mitteln des europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) gefördert wurde.   To increase the service life of hybrid rolling bearings, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT together with Cerobear GmbH, Hegenscheidt-MFD (A Member of the NSH Group) and Schmitz-Metallographie GmbH successfully qualified and implemented the hard rolling process in the process chain for manufacturing hybrid rolling bearings. By inducing residual compressive stresses in the bearing running surface, the service life has been demonstrably increased. The work was carried out as part of the funded research project „Hard Rolling of Bearing Rings“, which was supported by the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE).

- The article describes the different stages which marked the elaboration of the EEC regional policy starting from the preliminary studies in the Sixties to the formal inclusion of this domain in the Single European Act (1986). The creation of the European Regional Development Fund (1975) and its reforms are crucial events in the definition of the EEC regional policy which highlight the slow and difficult passage from a system redistributing money among Member States to the launch of new form of supranational territorial solidarity. The ERDF, that was initially linked to the need to rearrange the financial benefits of membership/accession to the EEC for some members States (in particular, Italy and Great Britain), was later rearranged in order to allow more autonomous policy choices at the Community level (Community programmes).
