Recently the knowledge management processes are analysed as the main source of uniqueness for the organisations, while they are facing the challenge of implementing the most efficient processes that affect their performance (Chang, Hsu, & Yen, 2012; Kianto, Vanhala, & Heilmann, 2016; Raudeliūnienė & Meidutė-Kavaliauskienė, 2016; Raudeliūnienė, Davidavičienė, & Jakubavičius, 2018; Känsäkoski, 2017). The scientists distinguish different combinations of knowledge manage-ment processes in approaching the knowledge management process and analysis has shown that knowledge management processes, studied by most scientists, do not have a clear knowledge man-agement structure (García-Fernández, 2015; Raudeliūnienė et al., 2018). The purpose of this study is to examine the knowledge management concept and knowledge management cycle considering the different interpretations of scientists. The study is grounded on scientific literature review.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine knowledge management interrelationships in higher education institutions and to assess the impact of the university’s culture on knowledge management processes: creation, dissemination, exchange and application. Design/methodology/approach The proposed model establishes the relationships between organizational culture (OC) and knowledge management processes in a single framework. The study used the organizational culture assessment instrument to determine the culture type and used structural equation modeling to assess the underlying relationships between knowledge management process and OC. Findings The results of the factor analysis used in this study suggest that adhocracy organizational culture, in which an organization is characterized by emphasis on individual initiative and employee empowerment, may not necessarily affect all knowledge management processes equally. In particular, an organization’s culture principally influences the knowledge creation process, followed by knowledge exchange, in a public university setting. Originality/value The study provides a comprehensive outlook on the effect of adhocracy culture in higher education on the knowledge management process through the lens of one cultural context. In addition, this is the first study that explores the OC effect on knowledge management process in a Saudi public university.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to review current literature on knowledge management processes considering the relationship between the key knowledge processes of acquisition, sharing, storage, codification, creation, application and different types of innovation, through a systematic literature review. Design/methodology/approach This study follows systematic review protocols for management and organisational sciences and analyses 45 full papers on knowledge management processes and innovation. Findings Results not only show that all knowledge processes can directly support innovation but also that other organisational variables (e.g. organisational learning, absorptive capacity) mediate this relationship. Moreover, knowledge creation and knowledge application appear as two central processes through which knowledge acquisition, sharing, codification and storage influence innovation. Knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing are the most frequently studied knowledge processes. The majority of the sample papers present traditional innovation definitions (product vs process, radical vs incremental and technical vs administrative). However, organisational innovation, innovation capability and innovation performance approaches emerge from the papers’ analysis. Research limitations/implications The present review includes major scientific papers; however, the search is limited to the Web of ScienceTM platform. Originality/value This literature review analyses high-quality, peer-reviewed papers, following a systematic methodology that can be tested and updated. Papers were divided based upon the knowledge process(es) being analysed and the innovation type/approach, providing a twofold contribution to knowledge management and innovation literature.

The effective management approach: integration of business, quality management and knowledge management processesIn the nowadays' dynamic environment only those organizations can survive that are able quickly react to opportunities and threats from the environment and to produce innovation ideas and turn them into products and services at a quicker pace then the competition. Therefore organizations seek different ways how to get ahead competitors. As quality management and knowledge management have proved themselves as perspective fields author of the paper proposes the integrated approach of both areas in order organizations can gain the most possible benefit from applying them. This paper shows the deeper aspects of both of these fields from the point of view of the process approach. Here is discussed the interactions of quality management, knowledge management and business processes. An elaborated organizational business and quality management process chart shows how quality management processes support the organization's management by providing information about system effectiveness, process performance, customer satisfaction and requirements. This information can be successfully used as a basis for decision-making concerning the necessary improvements and organization future goals. An integrated organizational business, quality management and knowledge management process chart demonstrates how effective management of an organization's knowledge assets can help to improve the organization's tasks in the sense of organizational performance, effectiveness and innovations. This paper is a beginning of the research toward the development of knowledge management services for quality management.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of information technologies and technology-enabled social networks on the efficiency of knowledge management processes in the Middle Eastern audit and consulting companies. Design/methodology/approach Scientific literature analysis, structural equation modeling and expert evaluation (structured questionnaire) were used to develop the research model, collect data from the audit and consulting companies’ experts and test the research hypotheses. Findings The empirical results of this research supported the hypotheses stating that information technologies and social networks positively affect the knowledge management cycle, including five processes (acquisition, creation, storage, sharing and application) within the Middle Eastern audit and consulting companies. Research limitations/implications The research results were generated from the Middle Eastern audit and consulting companies, which form a limitation concerning the geographical area and the business sector. Practical implications From the results of this study, audit and consulting companies, as well as organizations and society broadly, would benefit via the positive effect of information technologies and technology-enabled social networks on the whole knowledge management cycle, which has a further impact on organizational performance. These practical implications are related to a more open, sharing culture that drives organizational performance to the members and stakeholders of organizations, which, in turn, benefits society. Originality/value This research analyzes information technologies and technology-enabled social networks’ impact on knowledge management processes, particularly in the context of the Middle Eastern audit and consulting companies. While the phenomena have received some attention in the prior scientific research, the studied context so far remained under-researched, where a gap is found in studying the knowledge management cycle as a whole.

AbstractSmall and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lebanon constitute 90% of the country’s enterprises (Kheir 2017). The Lebanese SMEs’ entrepreneurial knowledge potential is not systematically developed to leverage the country’s SMEs with a competitive advantage. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analyse knowledge management processes and to show how their implementation can work as a road map for enhancing the entrepreneurial knowledge potential of the Lebanese SMEs. Using the comparative analysis method along with the scientific literature review, the article will highlight knowledge management implementation gaps that have to be considered by entrepreneurs while establishing their SMEs focusing on the positive outcomes after implementation.

This chapter gives an introduction to the core concepts behind knowledge management as well as the reasons behind the increasing emphasis that has been placed on the knowledge management process as a source of competitive advantage, innovation, and organizational performance. Some of the key influences on knowledge management processes are also examined such as culture and the roles of management before being examined in the context of KM initiatives in the Middle East. The critical success factors relating to the implementation of knowledge management processes are then outlined before a framework for implementation that takes into account the unique features of organizations in the Middle East is discussed.

Knowledge management aims to provide easy access and management of the information resource for the institutions and thus to create value by taking the right decisions. Since knowledge management has a decisive impact on the business performance and innovation process at different stages and requires a different knowledge management concept, enterprises should integrate innovation selection activities into knowledge management processes. Otherwise, businesses may face problems in the management processes of the information resources they have. The purpose of this chapter is to first specify the definition and tasks of knowledge management, then to examine the knowledge management processes and to correctly identify of the problems encountered in these processes to find and to implement effective solutions and to realize effective management of the knowledge management within the scope of organizational innovation. This study is very important for businesses with a large scale of the budget, human resources, corporate memory, and thus, a data source.

PurposeConstructed upon a knowledge-based view, the purpose of this paper aims to empirically examine the entrepreneurial leadership impact as knowledge management enabler on knowledge management processes and knowledge management processes on project success. The study further ascertains the mediating role of knowledge worker satisfaction among knowledge management processes and project success.Design/methodology/approachUsing the data collected from 302 project workers from the software industry, China. The research used structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze the hypothesis relationships using smart-PLS 3.2.9.FindingsThe outcome of the study reveals that entrepreneurial leadership has a substantial significant impact on knowledge management processes, and knowledge management processes influence project success via knowledge worker satisfaction as a mediator both directly and indirectly. Moreover, the study found partial mediation of knowledge worker satisfaction between knowledge management processes and project success.Practical implicationsThe current research identifies that entrepreneurial leadership may play a role in fostering knowledge management processes in project-based organizations (e.g. software industry) that can use the knowledge management processes to increase their chances of project success. More broadly, the current study contributes to the entrepreneurial leadership, knowledge management processes, knowledge worker satisfaction and project success existing literature and strengthens the relationship and suggest that how project manager's value knowledge worker satisfaction and help organizations gain competitive advantage and project success.Originality/valueAlthough there is an increased significance of knowledge management in the software industry, there is a lack of research that examines the enabling factors and outcomes of knowledge management practices. The present study is one of the first studies to ascertain the relationship of entrepreneurial leadership, knowledge management processes, knowledge worker satisfaction and project success. This is one of the initial researches that not only empirically examines the interrelationships among these variables but also enlighten insights into the current literature by instantaneous investigation of the mediating role of knowledge worker satisfaction.
