В работе теоретически найдена микрогеометрия поверхности трения фрикционной пары тормозного механизма, соответствующая равномерному распределению контактного давления на поверхности. Построена замкнутая система алгебраических уравнений, позволяющая получить решение задачи оптимального проектирования пары трения «барабаннакладка» тормозного механизма грузового автомобиля в зависимости от геометрических и механических характеристик его элементов. In the present work a microgeometry of friction surface for friction pair of a brake mechanism is theoretically found. The obtained microgeometry corresponds to uniform distribution of contact pressure on the surface. A closed system of algebraic equations is constructed. It allows one to obtain the solution of the optimal design problem for a “drum-lining” friction pair of the truck’s brake mechanism depending on geometric and mechanical characteristics of brake mechanism elements.

A theoretical analysis to determine a microgeometry of friction surface for the drum—lining pair is carried out. The sought-for microgeometry provides a uniform temperature distribution on the contact surface. The model of a rough friction surface is used. A closed system of algebraic equations is constructed. This system allows the solution of the optimal design problem for the drum- lining friction pair of the truck brake mechanism depending on geometric and mechanical characteristics of the pair elements. In this study, theoretical analysis for defining the function of displacements of a hub’s external contour points and microgeometry of the friction unit providing the absence of initial wear that holds to the end of running-in period, was carried out based on a rough friction surface model. A closed system of algebraic equations admitting to obtain the solution of the problem of optimal design of a friction unit depending on the geometrical and mechanical characteristics of a hub and plunger was constructed. The found function of displacements of the hub’s external contour points and microgeometry of friction surface provide wear resistance increase of friction pair. Calculations for friction units applied to the borehole sucker–rod oil pumps were considered as an example.

A new model for the energy of a mixture of micromagnetic materials is introduced within the context of functions with special bounded variation. Existence and regularity for the solution of an optimal design problem in micromagnetics are obtained.

The purpose of this paper is to present the catastrophe theory method for the optimal design of machine components. A brief description of the cusp catastrophe is presented in the introduction. The statement of optimal design problem is given in the second part of the paper. A single criterion design is presented; the reliability function is used as the objective function. The last part is devoted to probability approach. Manage variables are viewed as stochastic quantities, analytical and statistical linearization methods are used for the reliability function evaluation.
