A self learning fuzzy logic controller for ship steering systems is proposed in this paper. Due to the high nonlinearity of ship steering system, the performances of traditional control algorithms are not satisfactory in fact. An intelligent control system is designed for controlling the direction heading of ships to improve the high efficiency of transportation, the convenience of manoeuvring ships, and the safety of navigation. The design of fuzzy controllers is usually performed in an ad hoc manner where it is hard to justify the choice of some fuzzy control parameters such as the parameters of membership function. In this paper, self tuning algorithm is used to adjust the parameters of fuzzy controller. Simulation results show that the efficiency of proposed algorithm to design a fuzzy controller for ship steering system.

In this paper, temperature monitoring of sterilizing equipment system was established with the help of fuzzy and self tuning Adaptive fuzzy logic controller designed in Lab VIEW software. It combines the advantages of both fuzzy logic and self tuning Adaptive fuzzy logic controller. The implementation attempts to rectify the errors between the measured value and the set point which helps to achieve efficient temperature control. The Adaptive fuzzy controller uses defined rules to control the system based on the current values of input variables and temperature errors. The simulation results presented in order to evaluate the proposed method. The result shows that self tuning  Adaptive fuzzy logic controller was tolerant to disturbance and the temperature control is most accurate.

In this paper is presented high efficiency photovoltaic system (PV) with fuzzy logic controller. This system consists of PV panel, boost DC/DC converter and 24V DC load. Control module is realized with fuzzy controller. This controller has double function and it gives references for duty factor and switching frequency of the converter control signal. In this way the PV system works with applied maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method and switching frequency is changed on the way so the converter works with maximum efficiency in continuous current mode. Functionality of proposed model is tested through computer simulations in Matlab and on laboratory prototype.

In the last years electric vehicles gained importance as a more sustainable alternative to traditional vehicles. The introduction of an electric power train leads to lower air-pollution emissions. ‘Electric bicycles’ are sometimes more like an electric pedaled moped, other times more like a Vespa-looking scooter with or without pedals, and they often offer good range and speeds. However, a “scooter” can also be an electric cart for personal mobility, or a skateboard-like vehicle with small handlebars. Electric scooters are the most legislatively active realm of electric bicycles, at the present time. Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are one of the electrical drives that are rapidly gaining popularity, due to their high efficiency, good dynamic response and low maintenance. In this paper, the modeling and simulation of the BLDC motor was done using the software package MATLAB/SIMULINK. The proposed fuzzy logic controller has given optimal results compared to PI controller. The simulated system using the fuzzy controller has a fast response without overshoot, zero steady state error and high load robustness.

In this paper the PID controller and the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) are used to control the speed of separately excited DC motors. The proportional, integral and derivate (KP, KI, KD) gains of the PID controller are adjusted according to Fuzzy Logic rules. The FLC cotroller is designed according to fuzzy rules so that the system is fundamentally robust. Twenty-five fuzzy rules for self-tuning of each parameter of the PID controller are considered. The FLC has two inputs; the first one is the motor speed error (the difference between the reference and actual speed) and the second one is a change in the speed error (speed error derivative). The output of the FLC, i.e. the parameters of the PID controller, are used to control the speed of the separately excited DC Motor. This study shows that the precisiom feature of the PID controllers and the flexibllity feature of the fuzzy controller are presented in the fuzzy self-tuning PID controller. The fuzzy self – tuning approach implemented on the conventional PID structure improved the dynamic and static response of the system. The salient features of both conventional and fuzzy self-tuning controller outputs are explored by simulation using MATLAB. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed self-tuned PID controller i.plementd a good dynamic behavior of the DC motor i.e. perfect speed tracking with a settling time, minimum overshoot and minimum steady state errorws.

A wireless ad hoc network is a decentralized kind of wireless network. It is a kind of temporary Computer-to-Computer connection. It is a spontaneous network which includes mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) and Flying ad-hoc network (FANET). Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a temporary network that can be dynamically formed to exchange information by wireless nodes or routers which may be mobile. A VANET is a sub form of MANET. It is an technology that uses vehicles as nodes in a network to make a mobile network. FANET is an ad-hoc network of flying nodes. They can fly independently or can be operated distantly. In this research paper Fuzzy based control approaches in wireless network detects & avoids congestion by developing the ad-hoc fuzzy rules as well as membership functions.In this concept, two parameters have been used as: a) Channel load b) The size of queue within intermediate nodes. These parameters constitute the input to Fuzzy logic controller. The output of Fuzzy logic control (sending rate) derives from the conjunction with Fuzzy Rules Base. The parameter used input channel load, queue length which are produce the sending rate output in fuzzy logic. This fuzzy value has been used to compare the MANET, FANET and VANET in terms of the parameters Throughput, packet loss ratio, end to end delay. The simulation results reveal that usage of Qual Net 6.1 simulator has reduced packet-loss in MANET with comparing of VANET and FANET.

Background: The performance of the network protocol depends on number of parameters like re-broadcast probability, mobility, the distance between source and destination, hop count, queue length and residual energy, etc. Objective: In this paper, a new energy efficient routing protocol IAOMDV-PF is developed based on the fixed threshold re-broadcast probability determination and best route selection using fuzzy logic from multiple routes. Methods: In the first phase, the proposed protocol determines fixed threshold rebroadcast probability. It is used for discovering multiple paths between the source and the destination. The threshold probability at each node decides the rebroadcasting of received control packets to its neighbors thereby reducing routing overheads and energy consumption. The multiple paths list received from the first phase and supply to the second phase that is the fuzzy controller selects the best path. This fuzzy controller has been named as Fuzzy Best Route Selector (FBRS). FBRS determines the best path based on function of queue length, the distance between nodes and mobility of nodes. Results: Comparative analysis of the proposed protocol named as "Improved Ad-Hoc On-demand Multiple Path Distance Vector based on Probabilistic and Fuzzy logic" (IAOMDV-PF) shows that it is more efficient in terms of overheads and energy consumption. Conclusion: The proposed protocol reduced energy consumption by about 61%, 58% and 30% with respect to FF-AOMDV, IAOMDV-F and FPAOMDV routing protocols, respectively. The proposed protocol has been simulated and analyzed by using NS-2.

In this study, a design methodology is introduced that blends the neural and fuzzy logic controllers in an intelligent way developing a new intelligent hybrid controller. In this design methodology, the fuzzy logic controller works in parallel with the neural controller and adjusting the output of the neural controller. The performance of our proposed controller is demonstrated on a motorized robot arm with disturbances. The simulation results shows that the new hybrid neural -fuzzy controller provides better system response in terms of transient and steady-state performance when compared to neural or fuzzy logic controller applications. The development and implementation of the proposed controller is done using the MATLAB/Simulink toolbox to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

AbstractThis work describes design and implementation of a navigation and obstacle avoidance controller using fuzzy logic for four-wheel mobile robot. The main contribution of this paper can be summarized in the fact that single fuzzy logic controller can be used for navigation as well as obstacle avoidance (static, dynamic and both) for dynamic model of four-wheel mobile robot. The bond graph is used to develop the dynamic model of mobile robot and then it is converted into SIMULINK block by using ‘S-function’ directly from SYMBOLS Shakti bond graph software library. The four-wheel mobile robot used in this work is equipped with DC motors, three ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance from the obstacles and optical encoders to provide the current position and speed. The three input membership functions (distance from target, angle and distance from obstacles) and two output membership functions (left wheel voltage and right wheel voltage) are considered in fuzzy logic controller. One hundred and sixty-two sets of rules are considered for motion control of the mobile robot. The different case studies are considered and are simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK software platform to evaluate the performance of the controller. Simulation results show the performances of the navigation and obstacle avoidance fuzzy controller in terms of minimum travelled path for various cases.

Autonomous road following is one of the major goals in intelligent vehicle applications. The development of an autonomous road following embedded system for intelligent vehicles is the focus of this paper. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is designed for vision-based autonomous road following. The stability analysis of this control system is addressed. Lyapunov's direct method is utilized to formulate a class of control laws that guarantee the convergence of the steering error. Certain requirements for the control laws are presented for designers to choose a suitable rule base for the fuzzy controller in order to make the system stable. Stability of the proposed fuzzy controller is guaranteed theoretically and also demonstrated by simulation studies and experiments. Simulations using the model of the four degree of freedom nonholonomic robotic vehicle are conducted to investigate the performance of the fuzzy controller. The proposed fuzzy controller can achieve the desired steering angle and make the robotic vehicle follow the road successfully. Experiments show that the developed intelligent vehicle is able to follow a mocked road autonomously.
