A new monotypic genus is herein described for the Western Cuban endemic whipscorpion Mastigoproctus pelegrini Armas, 2000. Its morphology is strikingly different from all other species of Mastigoproctus Pocock, 1894, but its generic placement remained unchallenged so far. Sheylayongium gen. n. is diagnosed from all other Mastigoproctinae Speijer, 1933 by a combination of several morphological characters of both sexes, e.g., high reduction of pedipalp armature and sexual dimorphism, carapace carination, unusual modification of sternite V, and female spermathecal structure. Its single species is thoroughly illustrated with high-resolution, full-color photographs, its geographical distribution is revised and updated, and new data are given on its natural history.

The identity of the rare xanthid crab, Pilumnoplax acanthomerus Rathbun, 1911, originally described from the AmiranteIslands in the western Indian Ocean, is elucidated. Števčić (2005) transferred the species from Pilumnoplax Stimpson,1858, to a new genus, Linnaeoxantho. This monotypic genus is re-diagnosed and new morphological characters are high-lighted. New records from Ryukyu and Line Islands, in the western and central Pacific, respectively, are reported. Linnae-oxantho is compared with the morphologically similar Melybia Stimpson, 1871, from the western Atlantic, and theiraffinities are discussed. Linnaeoxanthinae Števčić, 2005, is here recognised as a valid xanthid subfamily for Linnaeoxantho and Melybia, and is considered to have priority over Melybiidae Števčić, 2005.

A new monotypic genus, Turneroconcha, is established for T. magnifica (Boss & Turner) which was originally assigned to the genus Calyptogena Dall. The distinguishing morphological characters of the new genus are the combination of both conchological and anatomical features including: the presence of only two tooth elements in the right valve; submerged location of the posterior part of the posterior lamellar ligament layer; the absence of a subumbonal pit, lunular incision, escutcheon and pallial sinus; the presence of both pairs of demibranchs; the tubular structure of marginal parts of the interlamellar septa in gills; an inner valve of the inhalant siphon without processes; tentaculate inner mantle fold 3 and a Z-shaped digestive tract. Analysis of morphological data on Recent and fossil pliocardiines shows that Turneroconcha gen. nov. can be presently considered as a monotypic genus. The comparative morphological analysis of the new genus with described pliocardiine genera is consistent with available molecular results. Turneroconcha gen. nov. is endemic to the East-Pacific Rise and Galapagos Rift and occurs at water depths of 2251 to 2791 m. It is the only pliocardiine genus known so far with a mainly epifaunal life habit. No fossils of Turneroconcha gen. nov. are known.

The flower beetle genus Aurum new genus (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae: Schizorhinini: Schizorhinina) is described. Aurum is endemic to Australia, and contains a single species, Aurum leonorensis new species, from Western Australia. The genus is compared to the most closely related Australian flower beetle genera, Diaphonia Newman, 1840, Aphanesthes Kraatz, 1880, and Chondropyga Kraatz, 1880. Ecological observations and the collecting localities are detailed for Aurum leonorensis.

Some of the taxonomic characters originally argued for the Cuban monotypic genus Cubacanthozomus Teruel, 2007, are unsubstantial. Others were misinterpretations of drawings given in the original description of Schizomus rowlandi Dumitresco, 1973, the only source of taxonomic information on which Teruel (2007) based the new genus. Recently a new collection of this species was made in a small cave about 350 m from one of the caves mentioned in the original description: Cueva de Majana, Baracoa municipality, Guantánamo province. On the basis of new morphological evidence found during examination of two females and a male, both the genus Cubacanthozomus and its type-species are herein redescribed. Cueva de Majana is recognized as the true type locality of C. rowlandi, which male holotype was erroneously listed as being collected in a cave from central Cuba, 600 km away. Additional data are provided on the morphology, natural history and conservation status of C. rowlandi, which is now being proposed as an endangered species.

A new monotypic genus of aorid amphipod Propejanice gen. nov. is described and figured from material collected in Brazil. The single species, P. lagamarensis sp. nov. was collected from artificial plates suspended in the sea in Paraná and Sao Paulo States, Brazil. The new genus appears to be morphologically closest to the genus Janice Griffiths, 1973 from Moçambique, from which it differs in the carpochelate male gnathopod 1. Both genera are phylogenetically close to the genus Grandidierella Coutière, 1904.

The Hepialidae species of Trinidad and Tobago are documented and two species are recognized. The new and monotypic genus Wallacella, gen. n., (Lepidoptera, Hepialidae) is erected to include Phassus guianensis Schaus of Guyana (Wallacella guianensis, comb. n.). The male holotype and genitalia are also illustrated for the first time. Potential generic affinities with Druceiella (Viette) and Pfitzneriana (Viette) are considered. Gymelloxes juliusboosi sp. n. is described from Trinidad and Tobago and compared to its congeneric species. The sternite VIII and male genitalia are diagnostic for this new species. The male holotype is deposited in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London, UK.

The endemic Australian tribe Myiotrixini is reviewed and a new genus andspecies described. The monotypic genus Myiotrixa Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1893, is known from all States except the NorthernTerritory, but has been most frequently collected from south-easternAustralia; the single species, M. prosopina, is aparasite of the native Australian cockroachPlatyzosteria castanea Brunner.Obscuromyia, a new monotypic genus of Myiotrixini fromnorthern Western Australia, is described and the relationship between it andMyiotrixa discussed. Striking synapomorphies of the maleand female terminalia corroborate the sister-group relationship betweenObscuromyia and Myiotrixa. These synapomorphies are the medially fused pregonites which encircle the base ofthe aedeagal apodeme in the male, and in the female the lack of sclerotisedsternites in most of the abdomen and ovipositor, and the non-extensible andnon-piercing ovipositor in which segment 8 forms a sclerotised cylinderincised dorsally and ventrally. A revised diagnosis of the Myiotrixini isprovided along with a diagnostic key to the two genera.

AbstractVolumosinanew genus (Diptera: Sphaeroceridae: Limosininae) is described to accomodate the enigmatic Nearctic species Herniosina voluminosa Marshall, 1987 and its relationships are discussed. Based on morphological characters Volumosina is treated as part of the Limosina genus group along with Apteromyia Vimmer, 1929, Gigalimosina Roháček, 1983, Herniosina Roháček, 1983, and Limosina Macquart, 1835 but its position within the group remains unresolved. Volumosina voluminosa (Marshall, 1987) new combination is recorded from Canada and redescribed with new distributional and natural history data suggesting that it is an old-growth specialist associated with large woody debris. The gigantism of the male aedeagal complex of V. voluminosa is discussed.

AbstractFrom the endemic New World halyine genus Brochymena, two genera are recognized. New morphological characters at the generic level are described. Parabrochymena, new genus, with Pentatoma arborea Say as type species, is erected to contain 10 taxa formerly included in Brochymena. New combinations are Parabrochymena aculeata (Distant), P. apiculata (Van Duzee), P. arborea (Say), P. barberi barberi (Ruckes), P. barberi diluta (Blatchley), P. cuspidata (Distant), P. enigmatica (Ruckes), P. florida (Ruckes), P. haedula (Stål), and P. poeyi (Guérin-Méneville). Brochymena is redefined with 20 taxa: B. affinis Van Duzee, B. cariosa Stål, B. carolinensis (Westwood), B. chelonoides Ruckes, B. dilata Ruckes, B. exardentia Ruckes, B. hoppingi Van Duzee, B. humeralis Ruckes, B. laevigata Ruckes, B. lineata Ruckes, B. marginella Stål, B. myops Stål, B. parva Ruckes, B. punctata punctata Van Duzee, B. punctata pallida Blatchley, B. pilatei Van Duzee, B. quadripustulata (Fabricius), B. splendida Ruckes, B. sulcata Van Duzee, and B. tenebrosa Walker. Four synonymies are established: B. marginella Stål = B. carolinensis (Westwood); B. pilatei Van Duzee = B. sulcata Van Duzee; B. laevigata Ruckes = B. myops Stål; B. exardentia Ruckes = B. lineata Ruckes. Lectotypes are designated for B. affinis Van Duzee, B. cariosa Stål, B. myops Stål, B. punctata pallida Blatchley, and B. p. punctata Van Duzee. Species groups of Brochymena are characterized, and a key to all taxa is presented for the first time. As appropriate, for each species of Brochymena, the following are provided: citation of original description, synonymies, type material, diagnosis, description, geographical distribution, taxonomic comments, natural history, and illustrations of important structural characters. Chorological affinities are presented and systematic relationships are hypothesized.
