A new species of oribatid mites of the genus Lasiobelba (Oribatida, Oppiidae) is described from decomposing logs in the polydominant forest of Cat Tien National Park (Southern Vietnam). Lasiobelba longisensilla sp. nov. differs from  most similar species, L. sculpta Wang, 1993 and  L. yunnanensis Wen, 1999, by the smaller body size, notogaster without sculpturing, and lamellar setae shorter than rostral and interlamellar setae.

The description of a new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida) of the family Zetorchestidae—Zetorchestes krisperi sp. nov.—is proposed based on adult and tritonymph specimens collected from rainforest soil of Bi Dup-Nui Ba National Park (southern Vietnam). We also review the distinguishing characteristics for Zetorchestes species and present an identification key to Zetorchestes species of the world. Diagnostic features of Zetorchestes nymphs are discussed.

Two species of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida), Pergalumna pseudosejugalis sp. nov. and Oribatella gerdweigmanni sp. nov. are described from Bu Gia Map National Park (Southern Vietnam). Pergalumna pseudosejugalis sp. nov. is most similar morphologically to P. crassipora Mahunka, 1995, but it differs from the latter in the microfoveolate integument, presence of pseudosejugal line, of a pair of transversal striate bands on ventral side and of median pore, and by shorter lamellar setae. Oribatella gerdweigmanni sp. nov. is most similar morphologically to O. sculpturata Mahunka, 1987, but it differs from the latter in a smaller body size, a microfoveolate integument, the presence of the translamella, more short lateral and medial lamellar dens, and sparse striae in an epimeral region.

Lyriothemis pallidistigma sp. nov. (holotype male: Cat Tien National Park, Dong Nai Prov., southern Vietnam) is described. This species is reminiscent of L. defonsekai van der Poorten, 2009 and L. elegantissima Selys, 1883, but can be separated by the shape of its secondary genitalia and its patterning. Information on its biology and ecology is provided.

Three new species of oribatid mites of the family Galumnidae, Galumna acutirostrum sp. nov., Galumna levisensilla sp. nov., Neogalumna seniczaki sp. nov., are proposed and described. All three are from sandy soil in a dipterocarp forest of Cat Tien National Park (southern Vietnam). Diagnostic keys to the Vietnamese species of Galumna (Galumna) and known species of Neogalumna are presented.

A new species of the genus Miltochrista Hübner, [1819], Miltochrista bachma Volynkin & Derzhinsky, sp. nov. is described from the Bạch Mã National Park in central Vietnam. The diagnostic comparison is made with Miltochrista testata (Černý, 2016) described from southern Vietnam and Miltochrista lyclenoides Černý, 2016 described from central Laos. Adults, male and female genitalia of the new and both similar species are illustrated.

A new species of Galumna (Galumna) (Oribatida, Galumnidae) are described from a sample of grass rhizosphere, from a meadow of the Tam Dao National Park, Northern Vietnam. Galumna (Galumna) dkrivolutskyi sp. nov. differs from G. pseudotriquetra Ermilov, 2015(b) by the larger body size, bothridial heads slightly developed unilaterally and by the absence of sejugal suture medially. A supplementary description of G. discifera Balogh, 1960 is present based on Vietnamese specimens. Morphological additions to description of the Vietnamese species, G. acutirostrum Ermilov & Anichkin, 2010, are given. An identification key to known species of Galumna (Galumna) from the Oriental region is provided.

Four new species of oribatid mites, Unguizetes cattienensis sp. nov. (Mochlozetidae), Gigantoppia zryanini sp. nov. (Granuloppiidae), Caucasiozetes frankeae sp. nov. (Microzetidae) and Otocepheus (Acrotocepheus) vietnamicus sp. nov. (Otocepheidae) from forest soil, litter and decaying wood of Cat Tien National Park in southern Vietnam are described. The representative of the genus Gigantoppia as well as Unguizetes sphaerula is recorded for the first time in Vietnam, and the genus Caucasiozetes is firstly recorded in the Oriental Region. A new generic diagnosis of Caucasiozetes is presented, and an identification key to the Vietnamese species of Otocepheus (Acrotocepheus) is presented.

A new species from the genus Placoneis (Bacillariophyceae: Cymbellales) is described on the basis molecular and morphological data. Placoneis cattiensis Glushchenko, Kezlya, Kulikovskiy & Kociolek sp. nov. is described from soil collected from the bottom of a dry, temporary stream in the forest of Сát Tiên National Park in Vietnam. On the basis of molecular data our new species appears to be more closely related to two strains of Placoneis previously identified as P. elginensis. However, P. cattiensis shows lower statistical support with two strains of P. elginensis on the basis ML. Additionally, P. cattiensis is distinguished from P. elginensis on the basis of morphological features such as the shape of the valve, breadth and density of areolae and striae. Comparisons of P. cattiensis with other similar species are given.

Argostemma cordatum, a new species of Rubiaceae, is described and illustrated. The species was discovered in 2014 during a botanical survey of the Chu Yang Sin National Park (Dak Lak province, Southern Vietnam). Argostemma cordatum possesses a solitary large leaf per plant (along with one very small leaf). The new species differs from morphologically similar species mainly by the small size of the enlarged leaf and cordate base of the enlarged leaf. It is also characterized by the following features: plant completely glabrous, stipules minute and reduced to papillate warts, inflorescence with all axes elongated, anthers coherent into anther cone and dehiscent by longitudinal slits, style slightly exserted. An extended description of the vegetation in the area inhabited by A. cordatum is provided.
