Abstract Background: Companies that made part of the construction sector must be committed to the preservation of the environment, minimizing the risk to people who works for each organization and generate confidence for its clients through the development of culture quality and operational efficiency. Integrated management systems started in the nineties as an evolution of existing quality systems, environmental management and industrial safety. As background of embedded systems MRP (Manufacturig Resource Planning), MAP (Manufacturig Automation Protocol) and TOP (Technical Office Protocol) are counted. Objetive: The aim of the project focuses on identifying the relationship and existing points of convergence between ISO 9001: 2008, 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 for the implementation of the integrated management system (IMS) in civil engineering companies with their economic activity in the Colombian construction sector. Methodology: An analysis of the structure of each of the three standards under study is performed and the points of convergence and divergence are identified in order to find a main structure that works for managers of construction companies as input to make decisions to implement integrated management systems. Results: As a main product is obtained a comparative table that allows articulate the three standards to further characterize under the Deming cycle, or PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act). Convergence and complementarity between standards issues are identified and the minimum documentary platform for integrated management system is established. Conclusions: The integrated construction companies systems are alternative productive and organizational operation characteristics that give visibility, credibility, competitiveness and profitability for these companies to compete in dynamic business scenarios and ensure compliance with contractual commitments under highly demanding global marketsPalabras clave: Calidad, Ingeniería civil, Normas, Medio ambiente, Salud ocupacional, Seguridad industrial, Sistema de gestión

The main aim of this paper is to answer the research question, “Is the Gompertz model suitable for studying the diffusion of the ISO 22000 standard in Europe?” Forecasting models adopting the Gompertz model were developed to estimate to which extent the Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) based on the ISO 22000 standard are expected to be implemented and certified in the European continent. To provide a forecast for the next few years, data from the diffusion of renowned ISO standards, namely, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, were extrapolated in order to overcome the shortcoming since data concerning ISO 22000 certification was only available for the period 2007 to 2018. The results provide a cross-sectional portrayal of the European diffusion of ISO 22000 certification and suggest an interval of the estimated number of certificates issued in Europe. This research paper presents the first attempt to empirically analyze the dynamic of diffusion of the European ISO 22000 certification. A more accurate fitting with real results may be expected with further information available in the forthcoming years.

The article focuses on examining the problems of developing the quality management systems at the enterprises engaged in foreign economic activities. Today, companies operate in constantly changing market conditions. The formation of a new competitive environment forces companies to pay attention again to the efficiency and quality of goods and services, because in a fierce competition only those com-panies survive that could quickly adapt to such conditions. Globalization of markets, on the one hand, gives the consumer the right to choose the best, and, on the other hand, forces the manufacturer to look for new means to improve quality at the lowest cost. All these factors lead to the active development of quality management systems and methods, considering the wishes of consumers, the search for weaknesses in production and the best adjustment of the whole process for further successful development. Considering the above mentioned, the pur-pose of the article is to study the development and implementation of quality management system, as well as to identify the main problems of formation of quality management systems at enterprises-subjects of foreign economic activity and provide theoretical recommendations for their solution. The article reveals the essence of “quality” notion and discloses the concept of “quality management of the enterprise”. The description of modern quality management systems is implemented on the example of quality management system ISO 9001, food safety management system ISO 22000, environmental management system ISO 14001 and occupational safety and health management system OHSAS 18001. The examination of implementing ISO standards can provide new insight as to their quality and environmental management benefits. These insights can be more impactful in manufacturing sectors and especially textiles as this sector is known for its environmental degradation and questionable supply chain practices. This exploratory study investigates the extent to which organizations that implement either ISO 9001 or 14001 standards impact sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). We also investigate the extent to which these two standards improve SSCM for the textile industry within a block of European countries consisting of Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. In this empirical study, we use several measures to help identify the extent of impacts of examined standardized management systems on improvements in different processes of SSCM. Our contributions to the field include finding that quality management systems support environmental processes, relationships with stakeholders, processes within the supply chain, and SSCM. Other findings include implementing environmental management system standards impact the rationalization of other processes. Finally, we find more significant supply chain impacts with the implementation of both standards than by either standard alone. The study concludes with suggestions for extension of this study and opportunities for further research.

Nowadays, the adoption of management systems dedicated to quality, environment and safety in company have become real issues, a competitive argument. They also have a reputation and international recognition. For some companies, they become like a prerequisite for their proper development. The aims of this paper is to understand how the Moroccan organizations who have an Integrated Management System integrate their management systems and the way that they perceive the challenges of managing several management systems in parallel over time. According to a survey carried out with thirty four Moroccan firms, we analyze empirically the implementation of different MSs such as: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Specially, we evaluate the integration levels of different management systems elements such as humans and documentation resources, objectives, procedures and audit. We analyze also the perceptions of companies about the advantages and the challenges encountered into the integration of Management Systems in organizations with more than one Management system.

Purpose – The difficulties in the integration of management systems (MSs) and their relationship with innovation and customer satisfaction are explored by proposing a model that links these three concepts together. Integration, innovation and customer satisfaction are relevant issues for the competitiveness of companies, especially for the ones that have implemented several MS standards. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – Data for the study derives from a survey carried out in 76 Spanish organizations registered to at least both ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 standards for quality MSs and environmental MSs, respectively. An exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM) are utilized to assess and confirm the proposed scales validity and the relationships of the conceptual model. Findings – Based on the empirical study, the second-order SEM shows that the difficulties of integration are directly and negatively related to both of MS documentation and procedures. This level is also directly related to the innovation and satisfaction. Nevertheless, no relationships were found between the difficulties of integration and the integration level of MS human resources. Moreover, no direct relationships were found between the difficulties of integration and both the constructs of innovation and satisfaction. Also, the results showed the integration level of MS procedures was not related to the construct of innovation. Originality/value – This is one of the first studies to relate integration difficulties with innovation and customer satisfaction, with a conclusion that an organization should give more importance to the difficulties of integrated MSs that have been uncovered to have a relationship with innovation and customer satisfaction.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the good practice (GxP) and standardised management system integration within total quality management (TQM) paradigm in pharmaceutical sector in Serbia. Also, the impact of all interested parties on quality management has been assessed. Design/methodology/approach – The cross-sectional study was performed, including different stakeholders within the pharmaceutical sector in Serbia: manufacturers, distributors, big pharma representative offices, as well as national regulatory authority. A survey instrument was developed, consisted of 16 questions, which were organised into four groups: questions in relation to implementation of ISO 9001, implementation of good distribution practice/good manufacturing practice, integration of management systems, and impact on TQM and business excellence. Total number of participants was 121. Findings – Standardised management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) support companies to improve business environment and management sustainability, but this survey indicated that it was ranked at the lower level then GxP, for pharmaceutical sector in Serbia. Although pharmaceutical companies has faced many challenges in recent years, the survey revealed high level of confidence in quality management systems, as well as the necessity of various management systems integration. Originality/value – The perception of TQM by the experts in pharmaceutical companies and regulatory authority is wider than the common TQM definition. From pharmaceutical point of view, TQM is a holistic approach to long-term success of organisation, oriented to all interested parties, with focus on a public health. Risk-based approach in new revision of both ISO and GxP will facilitate integration process towards TQM and business excellence.

The aim of the article was to carry out analysis and evaluation of the process of communication CSRby water and sewage companies. The analysis was carried out in relation to 510 water and sewage companieslocated in Poland, associated in the Chamber of Commerce of "Polish Waterworks". In the theoretical part, themethod of literature review was used, and in the empirical research, the method of analyzing the content of thesocial responsibility concept published on the enterprises’ websites was used. The obtained results allow for theconclusion that the communication carried out by the surveyed water and sewage companies in the field ofcorporate social responsibility should be assessed quite low. Out of 510 surveyed enterprises 63% did not informabout the implementation of activities in line with the CSR concept. Most of them conduct communicationactivities in the form of environmental education. Among the surveyed water and sewage companies, the biggestnumber of them have a well-developed and implemented systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and EMAS. Hence, itcan be concluded that enterprises, the most often and to a very limited extent, only implement the strategy ofinforming about CSR activities. The research also shows that in Polish conditions there is no relationship betweenthe implementation of formalized management systems and the concept of CSR

Purpose: The implementation and certification of Management Systems International Standards, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, achieved a high international recognition, with more than 1 million organizations with their Quality Management Systems certified worldwide. Researchers have been paying considerable attention to this theme and the number of published articles has robustly growth. Although, on an overall basis, the research results support the existence of positive impacts on the use and certification of these International Standards, there are various inconsistency and contradictory results, leading to some controversy over its impacts for organizations. This study aims to bring a longitudinal time perspective to this area of research, analyzing the articles published since 1996, on the benefits of Management Systems Certification. A longitudinal perspective of countries of authors origin, keywords and journals is presented, complemented with an evaluation of the research results.Design/methodology/approach: The research was supported with a Bibliometric Study, with data collected from Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Research Gate data bases. Following the detailed analysis of the journal titles, articles abstracts and their full content, an evaluation scale was applied to access if the results support the existence of a positive relationship between MSC and economic, financial or stakeholder results.Findings: The results evidence a steep increase in the number of publications addressing Management Systems Certification benefits, that mainly originate from Europe (48%) and East Asia and Pacific (23%), with Spain as the clear leading country accounting (43% of the total number of articles published between 1996 and April 2017). Journal of Cleaner Production (EMSC) and Total Quality Management and Business Excellence journal (QMSC) are the leading journals for disseminating the research and the most used keywords are “Quality/Environment”, “ISO 9001/14001”, “Performance”, “Management Systems” and “Certification”. There are also insights that the research is now open to other Management Systems either than Quality and Environment. The systematic review of the selected papers shows that the Management Systems adoption and certification brings fairly positives benefits (average 2,34 in a 1 to 5 Likert type scale) for the certified organizations, although some variations are observed.  Some avenues for future research should consider the reliability and validation of measures; sampling and biases errors; the use of control, moderating and mediating variables; the consideration of time and situational contingencies; and the search for explanations for cause and effect relationships. The results of this research support the view that the investigation of Management Systems Certification benefits is indeed an issue of high academic and practitioners interest. This research, although subject to some subjective evaluation of the authors, and acknowledging that the research articles are not always comparable, aims to give some insights for this continuous research field.  Research limitations/implications: Although the authors took measures to reduce subjectivity, it should be noted that the evaluation could be subject to the authors own interpretation and the research articles are not always comparable.Originality/value: This research makes a longitudinal and comprehensive evaluation of the articles published since 1996 on the benefits of Management System Certification. It highlights trends and gives contribution for future research, on a field of intense academic and practitioners interest.
