Response Modes

Little empirical evidence exists to assist interactive videodisc and computer based training developers in determining optimum user-interfaces. Mouse and keyboard response modes have different instructional, development and cost factor advantages and disadvantages. This paper overviews a presentation related to the author's dissertation experiment covering these issues.

Errors in a serial choice-reaction time experiment employing two-finger chord responses to alphabetic stimuli are shown to be distributed in a significantly non-random fashion. Two factors are postulated which are relevant to prediction of the error response. These are the presence or absence of a common finger, and the difference in finger separation, between the actual and the required response. It is suggested that the chord response is coded in terms of a pattern (the distance between the two response components). Responses which mirror the correct response about the centre of the hand are also shown to be significantly more frequent.

In this paper, a new numerical control system for machining tool is introduced. The system hardware’s basis is ARM9 microprocessor. It can control four step-servo motors or servo-actuators and realize any three motors motion simultaneously. The system is a multifunction. To realize this, the software is important. The system’s software analyzes the keyboard response, translates the CNC code, receive the CNC code from other computer or keyboard. It gives the interpolation values made the system realize circle or straight line movement. In the management of software, the system can realize multifunction tasks
