In this paper, 168 researches on Linear Algebra (LA) and Analytic Geometry (AG) at the university are analyzed, with the objective of knowing if these researches deal with the phenomenon of the split between this knowledge and to investigate about the main topics that guide the research on these subjects. An analysis is made using qualitative techniques obtaining a categorization in an inductive way. The results allow us to conclude that the split between LA and AG that operates in the study programs is not addressed by the researchers. Most focus on describing and analyzing students' difficulties with this knowledge, and among the proposals for teaching, the incorporation of software stands out. Only a minority consider, from an epistemological point of view, the benefits of a hybrid teaching between LA and AG.

The present study analyzes the contribution that teachers, as important pedagogical factors, have in achieving success in the academic learning of students. With age, there comes a greater autonomy of the educated, and during the university studies, a maximum of the students’ level of acquisitions is reached. Even if the most important factors in attending and completing studies are internal, and success is a relative, difficult situation to quantify, it is necessary to analyze it objectively, identifying the students' perceptions of the external support from the teachers. From an applicative point of view, our contribution consisted in verifying the extent to which the communication and didactic evaluation components are valued, by organizing focus groups, by applying appreciation scales to a sample of students preparing to become teachers, at the University of Craiova. The subjects responded to the request to perform reflective-appreciative exercises on themselves and on the activity of their teachers in the academic year 2020-2021. They indicated the degree of satisfaction they attribute to the way they were helped in: conducting didactic communication, experiencing the feeling of belonging to the university environment, applying a correct evaluation, heading towards academic success. The ways in which teachers contribute to the success of their students have proven their usefulness and can be transformed into directions of action. Teachers make it easier for young people or adults in the university environment to make the most of their potential, both through quality teaching and through encouraging evaluation.

Educational processes, over the past few years, are changing due to the various changes that society has been going through, driven by the insertion of the internet in daily life. The present study presents an essay on the perspectives for Higher Education from the pedagogical practices developed during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Concepts such as Network Education and Hybrid Education bring to light the reflection on the physical and virtual place of the university, involving economic issues that would make higher education courses cheaper in a virtual modality. Based on an exploratory research, outlined in a bibliographic way, the validity of the thesis about a paradigm shift for Higher Education, built under a hybrid model, was investigated. It is concluded that experiencing the university, from a social point of view, is very relevant, in addition to the accumulation of knowledge without articulation with everyday life, and that Hybrid Teaching is a methodological alternative in the establishment of the Network Education process, effective from Active Methodologies.

This chapter aims to address science and technology parks as organizational structures that promote links between universities and start-up companies. The authors conducted a case study to the Science and Technology Park of the University of Oporto (UPTEC), based on an interpretative and comprehensive epistemological point of view and a mix-methods approach. The analytical focus was on studying the genesis and development of this STP, its internal organization—functional areas and service range—and its different roles. This case study highlighted the benefits of the development of internal subsystems in a STP, which focused mainly in the incubation role. It also stresses UPTEC as a strong illustration of the triple-helix principles. At the same time, this case presented an imbalance in importance of those subsystems and a lack of result tracking as the biggest challenges faced by this STP.

ABSTRACT The text makes inroads into some texts of historians of Western thought in order to apprehend some decisive aspects of modernity, but also to show that at the present time there is the disenchantment of the overly optimistic promises of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. From the epistemological point of view, it demonstrates that the revolution of modernity has to do with changes of objects, arguing that understanding our age means asking about the nature of new objects born or constituted from the beginnings of the nineteenth century. This modern epistemological inversion requires another relation with knowledge, which places more demands on education than instruction alone. And he asks: if modern knowledge is so fragile, so ephemeral, so uncertain, why should it occupy us? Could not the school, the university, be at the service of other instances, perhaps more urgent, than knowledge? What do you want with education?   KEYWORDS: Philosophy; Modernity; Education. Studies of the effects of hydrogen environments on the deformation and fracture of fcc, bcc and hep metals and alloys have been carried out in a TEM environmental cell. The initial experiments were performed in the environmental cell of the HVEM facility at Argonne National Laboratory. More recently, a dedicated environmental cell facility has been constructed at the University of Illinois using a JEOL 4000EX and has been used for these studies. In the present paper we will describe the general design features of the JEOL environmental cell and some of the observations we have made on hydrogen effects on deformation and fracture. The JEOL environmental cell is designed to operate at 400 keV and below; in part because of the available accelerating voltage of the microscope and in part because the damage threshold of most materials is below 400 keV. The gas pressure at which chromatic aberration due to electron scattering from the gas molecules becomes excessive does not increase rapidly with with accelerating voltage making 400 keV a good choice from that point of view as well. A series of apertures were placed above and below the cell to control the pressures in various parts of the column.

Quality of life and satisfaction with life as tightly interconnected concepts have become of much importance in the urbanism era. No doubt, it is one of the most important goals of every human society to enhance a citizen’s quality of life and to increase their satisfaction with life. However, there are many signs which demonstrate the low level of life satisfaction of Iranian citizens especially among the youth. Thus, considering the temporal concept of life satisfaction, this research aims to make a futures study in this field. Therefore, using a mixed model and employing research methods from futures studies, life satisfaction among the students of the University of Tehran were measured and their views on this subject investigated. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analysed together in order to test the hypotheses and to address the research questions on the youth discontentment with quality of life. Findings showed that the level of life satisfaction among students is relatively low and their image of the future is not positive and not optimistic. These views were elicited and discussed in the social, economic, political, environmental and technological perspectives. Keywords:  futures studies, quality of life, satisfaction with life, youth

This research is based on learning in tertiary institutions which requires more active, independent and creative learners. of the importance of using appropriate learning methods in mathematics learning at the university level. SCAMPER is a technique that can be used to spark creativity and help overcome challenges that might be encountered in the form of a list of general goals with ideas spurring questions. This research aims to develop students' problem solving skills using the SCAMPER method in terms of student motivation. The population in this study were all semester V students of mathematics education study programs, which were also the research samples. From the analysis of the data it was found that the SCAMPER method was better in developing students' problem solving abilities with an average increase of 0.52 compared to conventional methods with an average increase of 0.45. In addition there is a difference between improving students' problem solving abilities when viewed from their motivation. But there is no interaction between motivational factors and learning methods.

Sustainability has to penetrate more and more into higher education. It should not focus only on traditional elements. It should also enter new, but for future improvement, extremely important areas. Based on this premise, creativity and motivation, when additionally interconnected and supported by trust that is provided and achieved, decide on the progress and sustainability of universities. This connection is gaining importance especially from the point of view of building solid foundations and mechanisms that functionally preserve the potential effects of these elements in the future. For this reason and following the nature, importance, and content of sustainable academic motivation (SAM), the paper introduces two new concepts: sustainable academic creativity (SAC) and sustainable academic trust (SAT). For further original contributions, the paper hypothesizes the existence of mutual—spiral—relations of sustainable academic motivation (SAM), sustainable academic creativity (SAC), and sustainable academic trust (SAT). The empirical section tests the validity of this claim in the universities of two countries: the Slovak Republic and Poland. A survey performed on a sample of n=181 pedagogical, scientific, management, and administrative staff in higher education confirms the existence of these spirals. The results indicate the spiral effect of motivation when connected with creativity and trust and show that it is accented by the crucial principles of sustainability (responsibility, novelty, usefulness, progress, etc.). Therefore, the paper’s conclusion contains the explanations for the potential occurrence of three types of sustainably mutual systems and complexes. These are: (a) individual sustainable systems of SAM, SAC, and SAT; (b) group/sectional sustainable systems of SAM, SAC, and SAT; and (c) the global sustainable complex of SAM, SAC, and SAT in the university.

In the past decades, there has been a growing interest in entrepreneurship education, and many higher education institutions have developed specific programs and courses to support entrepreneurial competencies. However, there have been significant changes in how universities train competences related to business skills and entrepreneurship in practice. Whereas entrepreneurship courses used to focus on the different forms of businesses and drafting business plans, the overall perception of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial competences has shifted this toward a more holistic educational approach to develop students’ entrepreneurial competencies. In this comparative quantitative case study, we investigate the university students’ perception of the development of their entrepreneurial competencies in the case of Proakatemia (Tampere University of Applied Sciences). The aim was to examine how the entrepreneurial competencies are reflected and strengthened in their thinking and everyday functions through the concept of team learning. The survey involved, altogether, 64 students, of which 21 studied in Proakatemia. The results of this study indicate that the team learning concept of Proakatemia facilitates learning entrepreneurial competencies. Therefore, these results provide insights for universities aiming to develop their curricula, programs and pedagogy, thus promoting sustainable societal development. However, we recommend further studies, e.g., from a qualitative point of view, to assess the effective of the concept in other learning environments.
