We present a new style of metric generator in graphs. Specifically we introduce a metric generator based on a partition of the vertex set of a graph. The sets of the partition will work as the elements which will uniquely determine the position of each single vertex of the graph. A set $W$ of vertices of a connected graph $G$ strongly resolves two different vertices $x,y\notin W$ if either $d_G(x,W)=d_G(x,y)+d_G(y,W)$ or $d_G(y,W)=d_G(y,x)+d_G(x,W)$, where $d_G(x,W)=\min\left\{d(x,w)\;:\;w\in W\right\}$. An ordered vertex partition $\Pi=\left\{U_1,U_2,...,U_k\right\}$ of a graph $G$ is a strong resolving partition for $G$ if every two different vertices of $G$ belonging to the same set of the partition are strongly resolved by some set of $\Pi$. A strong resolving partition of minimum cardinality is called a strong partition basis and its cardinality the strong partition dimension. In this article we introduce the concepts of strong resolving partition and strong partition dimension and we begin with the study of its mathematical properties.

Abstract A set W of vertices of a connected graph G strongly resolves two different vertices x, y ∉ W if either d G (x, W) = d G (x, y) + d G (y, W) or d G (y, W) = d G (y, x) + d G (x, W), where d G (x, W) = min{d(x,w): w ∈ W} and d(x,w) represents the length of a shortest x − w path. An ordered vertex partition Π = {U 1, U 2,…,U k } of a graph G is a strong resolving partition for G, if every two different vertices of G belonging to the same set of the partition are strongly resolved by some other set of Π. The minimum cardinality of any strong resolving partition for G is the strong partition dimension of G. In this article, we obtain several bounds and closed formulae for the strong partition dimension of some families of graphs and give some realization results relating the strong partition dimension, the strong metric dimension and the order of graphs.

Throughout this paper, consider G = (V,E) as a connected graph. A subset D of V(G) is a set dominating set of G if for every M  V / D there exists a non-empty set N of D such that the induced sub graph <MUN> is connected. A subset D of the vertex set of a graph G is called a co-secure dominating set of a graph if D is a dominating set, and for each u' D there exists a vertex v'V / D such that u'v' is an edge and D \u'v' is a dominating set. A co-secure dominating set D is a co-secure set dominating set of G if D is also a set dominating set of G. The co-secure set domination number G s cs γ is the minimum cardinality of a co-secure set dominating set. In this paper we initiate the study of this new parameter & also determine the co-secure set domination number of some standard graphs and obtain its bounds.

Fault-tolerant resolving partition is natural extension of resolving partitions which have many applications in different areas of computer sciences for example sensor networking, intelligent systems, optimization and robot navigation. For a nontrivial connected graph G (V (G) , E (G)), the partition representation of vertex v with respect to an ordered partition Π = {Si : 1 ≤ i ≤ k} of V (G) is the k-vector r ( v | Π ) = ( d ( v , S i ) ) i = 1 k , where, d (v, Si) = min {d (v, x) |x ∈ Si}, for i ∈ {1, 2, …, k}. A partition Π is said to be fault-tolerant partition resolving set of G if r (u|Π) and r (v|Π) differ by at least two places for all u ≠ v ∈ V (G). A fault-tolerant partition resolving set of minimum cardinality is called the fault-tolerant partition basis of G and its cardinality the fault-tolerant partition dimension of G denoted by P ( G ) . In this article, we will compute fault-tolerant partition dimension of families of tadpole and necklace graphs.

Let G be a finite, connected graph of order of, at least, 2 with vertex set VG and edge set EG. A set S of vertices of the graph G is a doubly resolving set for G if every two distinct vertices of G are doubly resolved by some two vertices of S. The minimal doubly resolving set of vertices of graph G is a doubly resolving set with minimum cardinality and is denoted by ψG. In this paper, first, we construct a class of graphs of order 2n+Σr=1k−2nmr, denoted by LSGn,m,k, and call these graphs as the layer Sun graphs with parameters n, m, and k. Moreover, we compute minimal doubly resolving sets and the strong metric dimension of the layer Sun graph LSGn,m,k and the line graph of the layer Sun graph LSGn,m,k.

Let G be a connected graph with vertex set V(G) and d(u,v) be the distance between the vertices u and v. A set of vertices S={s1,s2,…,sk}⊂V(G) is called a resolving set for G if, for any two distinct vertices u,v∈V(G), there is a vertex si∈S such that d(u,si)≠d(v,si). A resolving set S for G is fault-tolerant if S\{x} is also a resolving set, for each x in S, and the fault-tolerant metric dimension of G, denoted by β′(G), is the minimum cardinality of such a set. The paper of Basak et al. on fault-tolerant metric dimension of circulant graphs Cn(1,2,3) has determined the exact value of β′(Cn(1,2,3)). In this article, we extend the results of Basak et al. to the graph Cn(1,2,3,4) and obtain the exact value of β′(Cn(1,2,3,4)) for all n≥22.

AbstractLet G = (V (G), E(G)) be a connected graph and x, y ∈ V (G), d(x, y) = min{ length of x − y path } and for e ∈ E(G), d(x, e) = min{d(x, a), d(x, b)}, where e = ab. A vertex x distinguishes two edges e1 and e2, if d(e1, x) ≠ d(e2, x). Let WE = {w1, w2, . . ., wk} be an ordered set in V (G) and let e ∈ E(G). The representation r(e | WE) of e with respect to WE is the k-tuple (d(e, w1), d(e, w2), . . ., d(e, wk)). If distinct edges of G have distinct representation with respect to WE, then WE is called an edge metric generator for G. An edge metric generator of minimum cardinality is an edge metric basis for G, and its cardinality is called edge metric dimension of G, denoted by edim(G). The circulant graph Cn(1, m) has vertex set {v1, v2, . . ., vn} and edge set {vivi+1 : 1 ≤ i ≤ n−1}∪{vnv1}∪{vivi+m : 1 ≤ i ≤ n−m}∪{vn−m+ivi : 1 ≤ i ≤ m}. In this paper, it is shown that the edge metric dimension of circulant graphs Cn(1, 2) and Cn(1, 3) is constant.

Connectivity and diagnosability are important parameters in measuring the reliability and fault-tolerance of an interconnection network [Formula: see text]. The [Formula: see text]-extra conditional faulty set [Formula: see text] is a faulty vertex set such that every component of [Formula: see text] has at least [Formula: see text] vertices. The [Formula: see text]-extra connectivity [Formula: see text] of a connected graph [Formula: see text] is the minimum cardinality of a [Formula: see text]-extra conditional faulty set [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text] is disconnected. The [Formula: see text]-extra conditional diagnosability [Formula: see text] of a graph [Formula: see text] is the maximum value of [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text] is [Formula: see text]-extra conditionally [Formula: see text]-diagnosable. The [Formula: see text]-extra connectivity of [Formula: see text] is necessary for [Formula: see text]-extra diagnosability of [Formula: see text]. The [Formula: see text]-dimensional twisted hypercube [Formula: see text] is a new variant of hypercubes with asymptotically optimal diameter. In this paper, we first give the [Formula: see text]-extra connectivity of [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]; and then obtain the [Formula: see text]-extra conditional diagnosability of [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] under the MM[Formula: see text] model.

As a variant of minimum connected dominating set problem, two disjoint connected dominating sets (DCDS) problem is to ask whether there are two DCDS [Formula: see text] in a connected graph [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], and if not, how to add an edge subset with minimum cardinality such that the new graph has a pair of DCDS. The two DCDS problem is so hard that it is NP-hard on trees. In this paper, if the vertex set [Formula: see text] of a connected graph [Formula: see text] can be partitioned into two DCDS of [Formula: see text], then it is called a DCDS graph. First, a necessary but not sufficient condition is proposed for cubic (3-regular) graph to be a DCDS graph. To be exact, if a cubic graph is a DCDS graph, there are at most four disjoint triangles in it. Next, if a connected graph [Formula: see text] is a DCDS graph, a simple but nontrivial upper bound [Formula: see text] of the girth [Formula: see text] is presented.

Let [Formula: see text] be a graph with edge set [Formula: see text] and vertex set [Formula: see text]. For a connected graph [Formula: see text], a vertex set [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] is said to be a geodetic set if every vertex in [Formula: see text] lies in a shortest path between any pair of vertices in [Formula: see text]. If the geodetic set [Formula: see text] is dominating, then [Formula: see text] is geodetic dominating set. A vertex set [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] is said to be a restrained geodetic dominating set if [Formula: see text] is geodetic, dominating and the subgraph induced by [Formula: see text] has no isolated vertex. The minimum cardinality of such set is called restrained geodetic domination (rgd) number. In this paper, rgd number of certain classes of graphs and 2-self-centered graphs was discussed. The restrained geodetic domination is discussed in graph operations such as Cartesian product and join of graphs. Restrained geodetic domination in corona product between a general connected graph and some classes of graphs is also discussed in this paper.
