Carbonate reservoirs are the main reservoir types in China, which occupy the large ratio of reserves and production at present. The high-efficiency development of carbonate reservoirs is of great significance to assure the stability of national energy supply. The Lower Paleozoic reservoir in Jingbian gas field and the Sinian reservoir in Anyue gas field are two typical carbonate gas reservoirs, and their successful development experiences can provide significant references for other similar carbonate gas reservoirs. For Jingbian gas field, it is a lithological-stratigraphic reservoir developed in a westward monocline and multiple rows of nose-fold structures, and is a stable craton basin with simple palaeognomy distribution and stable connectivity, which has complex gas-water distribution. However, for Anyue gas field, it is a lithological-structural reservoir with multiple tectonic high points and multiple fault systems, and is biological dune beach facies under extensional setting with highly differentiated inside of the block in palaeognomy characteristics, which has limited connectivity and tectonic side water is in a local area. The difference of gas reservoir characteristics leads to the diverse development strategies. For these two gas reservoirs, although there are some similar aspects, such as the screen of enrichment areas, the application of irregular well pattern and reservoir stimulation techniques, the criteria of enrichment areas, the well types, and the means of reservoir stimulation are absolutely different. In addition, due to the differences of control reserves and production capacity for these two kinds of reservoirs, the mode of stable production is also different. The effective development of Jingbian gas field can give some references to the future exploitation on the Sinian gas reservoir. Firstly, the sedimentary characteristics should be studied comprehensively. Secondly, the distribution pattern and distribution characteristics of the palaeognomy should be found and determined. Thirdly, the distribution of fracture system in the reservoir should be depicted finely. Finally, dynamic monitoring on the production performance should be strengthened, and the management for this gas field should be improved further. The findings of this study can help for better understanding of the Karst weathering-crust carbonate gas reservoir formation characteristics and the optimal development technologies that should be taken in practice.

Abstract The tight gas field is greatly affected by pressure in the development process. Due to the different production time and formation pressure of each well in the gas field, the production characteristics of the gas well are obviously different. After the gas well sees water, it is impossible to formulate production measures efficiently and accurately. Therefore, by analyzing the production performance characteristics of gas wells, this paper carries out the classification research of tight gas wells, and formulates the corresponding production measures according to the classification results. Taking gas well energy and liquid production intensity as the reference standard of gas well classification, the dynamic parameter indexes characterizing gas well energy and liquid production intensity are established. Gas wells with different production characteristics are divided into six categories by clustering algorithm: high energy-low liquid, high energy-high liquid, medium energy-low liquid, medium energy high-liquid, low energy-low liquid, low energy-high liquid. Then the classification method of tight gas well is formed. In this paper, 50 wells in Linxing block are selected as the research object. The research results show that most of the wells in Linxing block are located in area V, belonging to low energy and low liquid wells. It is recommended to implement intermittent production. The classification based on gas well energy and liquid production intensity are of guiding significance for the formulation of production measures in the Linxing block.

Abstract The economics of tight gas fields highly depend on the consistency between expected production and the actual well performance. A mismatch between the reservoir quality and the well production often leads to a review of the individual well. However, such mismatch may vary from case to case, and it is hard to perform a field-level analysis based on individual well reviews. We introduce a new method based on data mining to assist the field-level diagnosis. LX gas field is located the in eastern Ordos basin. Compared to the main gas field in the center of the basin, LX field is less predictable in well performance. This predictability issue hinders field development in LX field because the field economics are substantially jeopardized by the inconsistency between the reservoir quality and the production performance. The traditional workflow to understand this issue at the field level is to review the details of a large number of individual wells in the area. This is typically an intense task, and too much detail from multiple disciplines may hide the true pattern of the field behavior. To resolve this issue, we applied data mining in our field development diagnosis workflow. Our new workflow in LX area started with the existing field datasheet, including logging summaries, completion treatment reports, and flowback testing datasheets. With the data extracted from these different sources, we visualized the consolidated information in various plots and graphs based on regression analysis, which revealed the relation between flowback ratio and the production, the flowback rate consistency from the different service suppliers, and the impact of water productions. The data mining approach helped to generate new understandings in LX gas field. With the in-depth analysis of the flowback data together with reservoir properties and operation parameters, the key problems in the field were identified for further development optimization, and the field economics can be significantly improved. The diagnosis method can be easily adapted and applied to any field with similar problems, and data mining can be useful for almost all large-scale field development optimizations.

Abstract The Coalbed Methane in Australia Surat Basin is main gas source for LNG project in east coast of Australia[1]. Traditionally, Coalbed Methane are drilled by vertical wells. But there are big intensively farmed land coverage in the Surat Basin, the multiple wells on single, larger pad from the surface, the bores slant away at around 70 degrees to intersect multiple, thin coal seams are applied to avoid the extra "footprint" and decrease the environment affect. Many pad wells production failure because of poor interburden isolation. Excessive solids production in pad wells resulted in new failures of holes in tubing due to accelerated erosion, which bring big challenges for the Coalbed methane production in deviated pad wells. The gas production in pad wells are analysised and the new pad wells optimization are proposed. First, the complete wire log (at least include GR and density log curves) need to acquire for correct thin coal seams correlation and locate the interburden sandstone position for future good sandstone isolation. Second the customized completion strategy and placement (swell packer) are applied in the pad wells and specialized tubing with enhanced erosion resistance to extend the run life. Thirdly ESP pumps and optimized tubing are installed in new deviated wells for good gas production. After the pad wells were put into production, the gas production was kept well for long time without pump problems. Swell able packer completion significantly eliminates sand problem by isolating in excess of or close to 80% of interburden sand. The above well completion and artificial lift optimization methods bring good production performance for the new pad wells and contribute much production for the producing gas field. The swellable packer completion also can be used in vertical wells and will be standard well completion methods for future gas development wells.
