Growth of FHIA-17 Banana Seedlings with the Application of Hijauan Paitan Fertilizer (Titonia Diversifolia) and Cow Manure. The aim of this study was to obtain data on the growth of FHIA-17 banana seedlings after application of T.diversifolia forage and cow manure. Using a factorial Randomized Block Design (CRD) with two treatment factors. The first factor is the forage dose of T. diversifolia (P) with 5 levels, P0=Control; P1=12.5 g kg-1 planting medium (equivalent to 5 tons ha-1); P2=25 g kg-1 planting medium (equivalent to 10 tons ha-1); P3=37.5 g / kg of planting media (equivalent to 15 tons ha-1); P4=50 g kg-1 of growing media (equivalent to 20 tons ha-1). The second factor is the dose of cow manure (K) with 5 treatment levels namely, K0=Control; P1=12.5 g kg-1 of growing media (equivalent to 5 tons ha-1); K2=25 g kg-1 of growing media (equivalent to 10 tons ha-1); K3= 37.5 g kg-1 of growing media (equivalent to 15 tons ha-1); K4=50 g kg-1 planting medium (equivalent to 20 tons ha-1 and repeated 2 (two) times. Observed parameters were plant height (cm), number of leaves, stem circumference (mm), plant wet weight (g), plant dry weight (g). The results of this study indicate that the application of forage T. diversifolia significantly affected plant height and number of leaves. It’s not real with respect to all observational parameters.

Our objective was to investigate the influence of alternative substrates based on stem decomposed by babassu and humic substances in the production of sunflower seedlings. The experimental design was randomized blocks, in a 3 x 4 factorial scheme (substrate x humic substances). Twelve treatments were studied, T1 (100% babassu stem decomposed (BDS) + 0 ml L-1 HS), T2 (100% BDS + 12.5 ml L-1 HS), T3 (100% BDS + 25 ml L-1 HS), T4 (100% DBS + 50 ml L-1 HS), T5 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 0 ml L-1 HS), T6 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 12, 5 ml L-1 HS), T7 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 25 ml L-1 HS), T8 (50% DBS + 50% LAd + 50 ml L-1 HS), T9 (100% LAd + 0 ml L-1 HS), T10 (100% LAd + 12.5 ml L-1 HS), T11 (100% LAd + 25 ml L-1 HS) and T12 (100% LAd + 50 ml L-1 HS). Each treatment was performed in four replications with one seedling per plot, totaling 48 plots. The DBSxHS interaction provided increases in root length, root volume, basal diameter, number of leaves, plant height and parameters related to inflorescence. The substrate with 100% decomposed babassu stem, together with the dose of 12.5% humic substance, is the best option for producing 'IAC Uruguay' sunflower seedlings. Further research on the use of DBS and HS is needed to address the use and purpose in producing new crops.

Background: Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is one of the oil and cash crops in Vietnam. However, owing to the lack of appropriate management practices, the production and the area under cultivation of peanut have remained low. Mulches are the key factors contributing to promoting crop development and early harvest and increasing yields. Methods: The experiment consisted of three mulch treatments, viz., plastic mulch, straw mulch and no-mulch control. All the treatments were replicated thrice in a complete randomized block design. Result: In the conditions of mulch, the plant growth parameters (germination rate, growing time, plant height, number of branches per plant), leaf area index, the number of nodules per plant, dry matter accumulation, yield components and yield of peanut was much higher than that of no-mulch control. Among the mulches, plastic mulch was found superior to straw mulch in the pod yields and water-use efficiency and moisture conservation, thereby can be considered as a reliable practice for increasing the productivity of peanut on the coastal sandy land in Nghe An province, Vietnam.
