California Bearing Ratio is a kind of method for testing the bearing capacity of the material. Aeolian sand is wildly distributed in north-west of China, such as Qinghai, Ningxia, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia. Different sedimentary history and condition makes the sand have different characteristics. This paper aim to testing different moisture content, mud content and gradation affect the Aeolian sand strength and bearing capacity through California Bearing Ratio method. The result of this experience shows that moisture content and mud content have a significant influence of the Aeolian sand strength and bearing capacity. Before the optimal moisture content, the CBR is increased, after the optimal moisture content, the CBR is decreased. Before the optimal mud content, the CBR is increased, after the optimal mud content, the CBR is also decreased. With the increase of compaction, the result of CBR is increasing. Under the same gradation condition, the CBR becomes smaller and smaller with the increase of mud content. Increasing compaction work, the CBR value also increased.

The main factors affecting soil compatibility include moisture content, compaction work, soil type, grading and coarse material content etc.. The effects of compaction work are as follows: the stronger compaction work is, the more larger soil dry density is. The optimum moisture content decreases with the compaction work increasing. This paper mainly studies the effect of compaction work to aeolian sand compatibility. Its lay-down thickness is about 30-50cm when we use vibratory roller to compact aeolian sand in practical engineering. This paper analysis’s and studies the maximum dry density and the optimum moisture content of aeolian sand in the middle region of Inner Mongolia, and achieves its lay-down thicknesses are 30cm,40cm,and 50cm respectively at the optimum moisture content. We use 85kg vibration-impact rammer instead of YZ 18 vibratory roller to simulate the aeolian sand compaction effect at the optimum moisture content. The specification does not specify the number of compatibility times, but it is generally 3 to 5 times in the actual project .We choose the most suitable compatibility times and lay-down thickness through anglicizing the Aeolian sand compactness for vibration-impact rammer rolling on eloign sand 3 times,4 times, and 5 times respectively at 3 different kinds of lay-down thicknesses. Through the study of the Inner Mongolia area Aeolian sand, it provides a useful reference for highway and railway construction in the desert area as well as the encapsulated layer thickness of reinforced retaining wall, a new type support structure.

In order to analyze the uplift bearing capacity of transmission tower foundation in the geosythetic-reinforced aeolian sand, a series of simplified indoor modeling tests are carried out. A simplified reduced-scale foundation made according to the prototype and the uplift bearing capacity of transmission tower foundation in geosynthetic-reinforced aeolian sand is studied. Three kinds of reinforcement materials are embedded in the sand according to five ways of layout spacing. A total of 15 reinforcement schemes are tested. The results show that ultimate uplift bearing capacity of transmission tower foundation can be significantly improved by the reinforcement treatment of geotechnical materials in the aeolian sand. The type and spacing of reinforced materials also have a significant influence on the uplift bearing capacity of the foundation model in reinforced aeolian sand, and the effect of reinforcement works until the end of the loading process. The comprehensive effect is evaluated by the ratio of bearing capacity improvement and the total layer of reinforced materials. Based on the above results, the bearing mechanism of transmission tower foundation in geosynthetic-reinforced aeolian sand is elaborated and analyzed in detail.

In this article, through aeolian sand sample study in Inner Mongolia Baotou area, to determine the aeolian sand maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. On this basis, the aeolian sand cohesion and internal friction angle were measured by the quick direct shear test when aeolian sand was at the optimum moisture content and near the most largest compactness. And the bearing capacity of retaining wall model which regarded aeolian sand as fillers was determined. Then bearing capacity change of aeolian sand wrapped before and after was compared. Experimental results showed that: when the aeolian sand was in the wet and compacted state, its cohesion was 3.31 kPa and internal friction angle was 36.8°. The aeolian sand bearing capacity was 153.8kPa by the plate loading test. The aeolian sand wrapped with a geotextile bearing capacity was 194.1kPa. Through the aeolian sand research of Baotou area, it provides a useful reference for the construction of highway and railway and application of wrap-reinforced retaining wall which is a new retaining structure in the region, and the aeolian sand is treated as a special filling material in these structures.

Pyrolysis of Hailar lignite (moisture content ~ 34.81 wt%) was investigated at temperatures ranging from 700 °C to 900 °C in two different reactors: A tubular reactor (TR) and a continuous screw kiln reactor (CSKR). Under temperature programmed-heating conditions in the TR reactor, the auto-generated steam from the lignite moisture was vaporized and swept out of the reactor by the N2flow during the long heating process, leading to a weakened effect on the subsequent reactions. However, in the CSKR tests all the volatiles was generated continuously while avoid the carrier gas dilution , significant interactions between the in situ steam and the intermediate products occurred. Upon comparing the two pyrolysis processes, it was found the CSKR process exhibits higher H2yield of 23.23 mol/kg, H2proportion of 49.82 vol % than those (16.97 mol/kg, 41.51 vol %) from the TR process. The results demonstrated that inherent moisture in Hailar lignite had a significant influence on the product yield, depending on the pyrolysis conditions. It was also shown that increase in temperature led to rising dry gas yield and H2yield.

Abstract. We develop an amplitude spectral ratio method for event couples from clustered earthquakes to estimate seismic wave attenuation (Q−1) in the source volume. The method allows to study attenuation within the source region of earthquake swarms or aftershocks at depth, independent of wave path and attenuation between source region and surface station. We exploit the high frequency slope of phase spectra using multitaper spectral estimates. The method is tested using simulated full wavefield seismograms affected by recorded noise and finite source rupture. The synthetic tests verify the approach and show that solutions are independent of focal mechanisms, but also show that seismic noise may broaden the scatter of results. We apply the event couple spectral ratio method to North-West Bohemia, Czech Republic, a region characterized by the persistent occurrence of earthquake swarms in a confined source region at mid-crustal depth. Our method indicates a strong anomaly of high attenuation in the source region of the swarm with an averaged attenuation factor of Qp

<p>The necessity of improving the engineering properties of soil has been recognized; therefore, it is very important to find ways to enhance the weak soil, and using plastic waste is one promising way of doing it. The primary objective of this study is to compare the bearing capacity of the two types of soil (Clay and Item-201) in different concentrations of plastics, namely, at 0%, 0.5%, and 1%. Primarily, this investigation aimed to compare the California bearing ratio (CBR) of the two types of soil each with three concentrations of plastic. This study made use of the experimental design, specifically posttest design only to determine the effectiveness of using recycled waste plastic as soil bearing capacity enhancer. Findings revealed that in terms of the type of soil, there is a significant difference in California bearing ratio between clay and Item 201 (p-value &lt; 0.05). On the other hand, the California bearing ratio of the soil samples in various concentrations are not the same. As with the interaction between the type of soil and the waste plastic, a two-way ANOVA reveals that there is significant interaction between them that might have influenced California bearing ratio in the soil (p-value &lt; 0.05).</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> Engineering, soil, waste plastic, soil bearing capacity enhancer, California bearing ratio, experimental, ANOVA, Davao City, Philippines.</p>

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the influence of season, age, sex, parity and gestation status on some biochemical parameters in local cross-bred goats raised in Tiaret, Algeria. Ninety cross bred local goats, from 2019 to 2020, aged between nine and seventy-two months at different physiological stage were used. Animals belong to different farms in Tiaret located at the north-west Algeria (35°22’ N, 1°19’ E). The mean values of triglycerides, creatinine and calcium were significantly (p<0,05) higher in winter than in spring. The physiological state of the goat had a significant influence (p<0,05) on cholesterol, urea, total proteins, calcium and phosphorus, with a high average values in non-pregnant goats, while triglycerides and globulin had significant higher values in postpartum and pregnant femals, respectively. In our work, parity had a significant influence (p<0,05) on cholesterol, calcium and phosphorus, with high average values in young goats and a significant influence (p<0,05) on triglycerides and creatinine with high average values in primiparous ones. Age significantly influenced (p<0,05) cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, calcium and globulin. The results obtained from this study could serve as reference values for the local goats and other regions or countries with similar climatic and nutritional conditions.
