In Kyrgyzstan, are 10 399 small businesses and 710 medium-sized enterprises. Most of them are headed by entrepreneurs who, starting from scratch, overcome countless obstacles, as many entrepreneurs do not have the notion and skills in doing business. But, nevertheless, there is a positive tendency in entrepreneurs to get knowledge on the legal conditions of the enterprise, taxation, accounting, analysis of their financial condition, and business planning. All this knowledge is necessary, but they cover the microlevel, while for an adequate, sustainable and profitable development there is an objective need for analyzing the macro environment of the business. In this report, we will consider the relevance of the use of certain marketing tools with which you can identify the threats and opportunities facing domestic business, as well as assess the impact of global factors that predetermine the future development of the business environment. Research in this area is currently being carried out by the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the Government Development Program "Jany Doordo - kyrk kadam (2018-2023) Kadam 8" Support for Small and Medium Enterprises.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of microfinance on financial inclusion and business growth in Igembe South District Kenya.Methodology: Descriptive research was used in discovering the research objectives. The research targeted the micro, small and medium sized businesses operating in Maua town (Igembe south District), 2181 of which were registered and licensed. A sample of 280 businesses (12.84% of the population) participated in the study.Results: This study revealed that microfinance institutions played a major role in improving financial inclusion among the small business owners who previous research has shown that they have been traditionally excluded from the formal banking systems. 78% of the respondents had access to the micro finance services while 60% had active microcredit in the preceding 12 months. It was clear that the microfinance institutions were cultivating the culture of saving among the micro entrepreneurs. However, most of the new businesses specifically those less than one year of age minimally benefitted from the micro finance services. It was also noted that default risk among the small businesses remains to be a challenge that micro credit lenders have to overcome for continued services provision. Working capital requirement was the leading reason for borrowing from micro finance institutions by the businesses.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study found that there was a good complementation between the existing micro finance institutions and the public entrepreneurial programs initiated by the government of Kenya such as Youth Entrepreneurs Development Fund, Women Enterprise Fund, Uwezo Fund and other County governments initiatives. The study recommended that the microfinance institutions should also be included in the distribution channel of these public funds for stronger linkage with the target groups. The MFIs should also utilize Credit Reference Bureau services to reduce the problem of default.

Indonesia, as a developing country, realizes the importance of economic development to create national welfare. This national development covers various aspects of life such as the political, social, cultural, economic and defense and security sectors aimed at meeting the needs of all Indonesian people, whose main objective is towards a just and prosperous Indonesian society.Economic growth is a measure for the success of a country's development, especially in the economic field. A country has an economic growth that has increased continuously every year will promote development in that country. In macroeconomics, the overall economic condition of a country is explained in relation to economic growth. The success of a country's development lies in its economic growth. Therefore, the ups and downs of the economy will certainly affect several sectors.In the economy of a country or a region, in fact there are various sectors that show the level of economic growth, namely the formal and informal sectors. In the informal sector, generally small businesses with limited capital, scope and development and received very little official protection from the government. There are also many informal sectors that can be appointed as an activity or job to generate income in a community, one of which is establishing their own business or by establishing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are the business groups that have the largest number. The micro, small and medium enterprises are regulated based on Law Number 20 of 2008 concerning UMKM Article 1 number 1 what is meant by Micro Enterprises are productive businesses owned by individuals or individuals and / or individual business entities.2 Micro Economic Businesses are businesses that have the potential to be affected by the impact of there is an economic phenomenon, namely inflation.Keywords: UMKM; National development; National Economy.

ABSTRAKProgram Pengembangan Produk Unggulan Daerah (PPPUD) ini bertujuan mengetahui dampak dari pandemi coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) terhadap Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) berbasis ekonomi kreatif pada kuliner olahan hasil laut di Bulak Kota Surabaya. Hal ini diperlukan guna mengetahui langkah yang dapat dilakukan untuk pemulihan dan pengembangan ekonomi oleh pemerintah dalam permasalahan akibat pandemi COVID-19. Metode pengumpulan data pada PPPUD ini adalah dengan wawancara/kuesioner, penelusuran pustaka, dan pelaksanaan pemulihan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan mulai bulan Maret 2020 (awal pandemi di Indonesia) hingga pertengahan bulan Desember 2020. Hasil dari PPPUD ini adalah ditemukan dua elemen yang menjadi permasalahan terkait pandemi COVID-19 terhadap pelaku UMKM kuliner olahan hasil laut yaitu sumber daya manusia dan inovasi olahan hasil laut dan pemasaran produk. Pemerintah dapat mengambil langkah-langkah untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut seperti pemberian bantuan modal usaha, memberi potongan tagihan listrik, penangguhan pembayaran pinjaman, hingga mendampingi pelaku UMKM yang menutup usahanya karena tidak dapat bertahan akibat pandemi untuk bertransformasi atau membuat usaha baru. Kesimpulan kegiatan ini adalah upaya inovasi olahan hasil laut pada masa pandemi COVID-19 harus sesuai dengan permintaan pasar berupa camilan work from home yang dipasarkan secara daring dengan pembayaran secara nontunai. Kata kunci: dampak COVID-19, ekonomi kreatif, UMKM olahan hasil laut ABSTRACTThe Regional Prominence Product Development Program (RPPDP) aims to determine the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) based on the creative economy of seafood culinary in Bulak, Surabaya. This program was conducted to find out the solution that can be taken by government to recover and develop the creative economy of seafood culinary entrepreneur due to the COVID-19 pandemic impacts. Data were collected by interview/questionnaire, literature review, and implementation of recovery of the the creative economy of seafood culinary. The period of this study was from March (the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia) to the middle of December 2020. The results of RPPDP showed that there were two elements influenced the seafood culinary entrepreneur due to the COVID-19 pandemic, namely Human Resources and innovation processing and marketing products. The government can take steps to overcome these problems, such as providing business capital assistance, giving discounts on electricity bills, deferring loan payments, assisting MSMEs who closed their businesses as result of the pandemic to transform or start new businesses. In conclusion, innovation of seafood culinary during the pandemic should be in accordance with the market demand, innovating traditional souvenirs to be work from home snacks, and online marketing using non-cash payment.Keywords: Impact of COVID-19; Creative Economy; MSMEs Processed Marine Products

The internet brings so many opportunities for economic, social, and other activities. On the other hand, internet activities have created cybercrimes which have been a major challenge to the business environment, especially the small and medium enterprises. Therefore, this study examined the impact of cybercrimes on small and medium enterprise's activities in the Federal Capital Tertiary (FCT). The study used structured questionnaires, a population of two thousand, eight hundred and twenty-five (2825) Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Federal Capital Tertiary, and a sample size of three hundred and fifty (350). The study used the mean of descriptive analysis and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) for the estimation of the mean values of the cybercrime indicators (Hacking and Spamming cybercrimes (HSC), Cyber Theft and Identity Theft Cybercrimes (CTITC), Financial Fraud and Laundering Cybercrimes (FFLC) and Website Cloning Cybercrimes (WECC)). However, the mean ratings of the various responses were calculated and were used to answer the research questions. The mean of 1, 2, 3, and 4 is 2.50 for this study; a mean rating of 2.51 or above was regarded as significant while a mean rating less than 2.50 was regarded as insignificant in explaining the changes in the variables under study. Also, the study findings revealed that hacking and spamming cybercrimes (HSC), cyber theft and identity theft cybercrimes (CTITC), financial fraud and laundering cybercrimes (FFLC) and website cloning cybercrimes (WECC) have a negative impact on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) activities in Federal Capital Tertiary (FCT). Therefore, the study recommended that the government and all concerned agencies should design measures in controlling and preventing hacking, spamming, financial fraud, and laundering cybercrimes since these are the major cybercrimes affecting SME activities. And also, there need for increased literacy for SMEs to mitigate against hacking, spamming, financial fraud, laundering, and website cloning

AbstractNatural disasters have been a significant hurdle in the economic growth of middle-income developing countries. Thailand has also been suffering from recurring flood disasters and was most which are severely affected during the 2011 floods. This paper aims to identify the various factors that impact the speed of disaster recovery among the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) severely affected by the floods in Pathumthani province in central Thailand, and how it is related to its speed decision of neighbours SMEs. The methodology adopts a spatial econometric model, to analysis and understand each of the chosen factors’ impact. The findings include the impact of disaster resilience, mitigation and planning at the SME level as well as the government level. The absence of accurate perception of actual risk, flood insurance and disaster management planning before the 2011 floods had contributed to the severity of the impacts during the 2011 floods.

The digital economy is a new business environment that enables enterprises to operate and provide services via the Internet and digital platforms. The study was on the effect of economic digitisation on growth of SMEs in Nairobi CBD. The specific objectives were to determine the effect of digital financial services, digital content, digital values and skills and the effect of online advertising on the growth of small and medium enterprises. The sample size in this study was 1000 SMEs formally registered in the study area from where a sample of 300 was randomly selected. The questionnaire was employed for the purpose of data collection from which out of the 300 questionnaires distributed, 180 were returned representing a 60% response rate. Guided by the research objectives, the data collected through the questionnaire were sorted, coded and presented in graphical and tabular forms for the purpose of descriptive analysis. To determine the significance of the relationship between the dependent and independent variables, a regression analysis was carried out using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24. The study established that digital financial services were significant factors in ensuring growth of SMEs in Kenya. The study concluded that Mobile payments have become a favorite means of making financial transactions.  The study also established that Applications available for mobile digital devices is expected to increase enormously.  Digital payment technology has increased over the last decade. From the findings, it was concluded that Consumers grow more familiar with the different payment systems available and encourage more transactions. The SMEs should explore the possibility of forming a management committee to streamline economic digitisation issues. It is recommended that the organization clearly spell out economic digitisation procedures and criteria. This can stir positive growth  among SMEs establishments and can result in effective management. The Government and the various agencies should also make provisions for training programs for SMEs  to empower them in terms of economic digitisation. The SMEs should not rely on external professionals to assist in digitisation as this may be expensive. It is also recommended that the SMEs should adopt digital financial services. E-commerce will ensure increased profitability for small and medium enterprises. They should also have Social networking sites, which have proved to be popular online activities in relation to time, spent. They should also adopt Innovation driven entrepreneurship as it contributes to increase in sales revenue, market share, efficiency, customers’ loyalty and firm profitability.

They have to analyze the market opportunities in the rapidly growing economy as well as emerging markets. The aids of a globalized and digital economy depends to an excessive extent on favourable business environments and healthy competition. The performance of MSMEs depends on accessibility to various strategic resources like abilities, technical know-how, innovativeness, and finance. Thus, it is imperative to consider the factors influencing work conditions firm level, and the strategies formulated at the national level are organized to local business perspectives. This paper examines the global scenario of MSMEs, the impact of globalization, the role of MSMEs in India, the growth perspectives of MSMEs during the pre-and post-globalization period, the critical challenges, and the role of the government in encouraging and developing MSMEs.

In spite of the increasing significance of broadband, many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are unaware of or unappreciative of its benefits. This is potentially a problem for governments, Internet Service Providers and other supply side institutions. The current study empirically verifies applicability of an extended IS continuance model controlling for organizational variables based on the Technology-Organization-Environment framework to examine factors influencing broadband post-adoption behavior of SMEs in Singapore. Strong support for the model has been manifested by the results, providing insight into influential factors. Results of the study suggest that perceived usefulness is a strong predictor of users’ continuance intention, followed by satisfaction with broadband usage as a significant but weaker predictor. SMEs in a more competitive business environment and whose key executive possesses greater IT knowledge are more likely to use broadband.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the factors, such as the different strategies adopted and the size of the company, that have a significant determining impact on the financial performance of companies in extreme circumstances.Design/methodology/approachThe research target of this paper is the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Hong Kong. This is quantitative research and it is done on a survey basis, which includes hypothesis setting and statistical analysis. In addition, constructive suggestions are given to companies after analyzing the current situation.FindingsIn total, ten factors from four dimensions are determined as the critical strategies for the company to adopt in an uncertain financial situation. The result shows the influence of different factors on return on investment for the companies with different backgrounds.Practical implicationsThe business environment today is full of turbulence and uncertainties; this, along with the fierce global competition, means that manufacturers are all struggling to survive. The financial tsunami that has swept across the global economy is believed to be the most catastrophic in living memory. Therefore, this research will be especially valuable and useful to companies which wish to achieve excellence in business performance in spite of such a global disaster.Originality/valueManufacturers worldwide have suffered badly from the impact of the financial tsunami. The SMEs in Hong Kong are certainly not an exception. However, under the same adverse conditions, some have been able to maintain their stability or even thrive. The findings suggest some specific corporate strategies which will enable companies to survive and remain competitive.

A good business environment means a catalyst for small and medium enterprises, a good business environment facilitates development and sustainability of small and medium enterprises. The development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) is very important to the economic development of a country, and intentionally, MSMEs are considered to be amongst the most efficient instruments for economies in transition, because of their production of sustainable economic growth, employment and poverty reduction.Small and medium enterprises are a generator of new products and technologies; they are are a source of new ideas and advanced strategies of management. Development and sustainability of small and medium enterprises depends on the business environment, which implies a series of social, legal, economic, political or institutional conditions, which are uncontrollable in nature, and affect the organizations’ functions.This study addresses the baseline documents which were taken into consideration by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in developing economic policies, thereby analysing their advantages and disadvantages. By analysing reports, statistics on MSMEs and other documents, and further complementing the study by a research section (business survey), this paper aims at identifying the key problems faced by the MSMEs in Kosovo, and provide adequate recommendations which may be of service in resolving such problems, but also resulting into a better business environment, and economic development in general.
