Determination of the optimum dosage of urea fertilizer (source N) and MOP (source K) in oil palm producing (TM) plants through fertilization experiments in the field is very important because the plant needs for both types of fertilizers are relatively high. N-K fertilization trials on TM (aged 4-12 years) have been conducted at one location of PT.Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk & Subs (in two gardens: Lubuk Raja Estate and / Balam Rumbia Estate) during the 1992-2000 time period. The urea and MOP fertilization treatments separately showed the response of FFB production by 22 and 50%, respectively (1995 - 2000). The interaction of urea and MOP is not real. The response curve of FFB production to urea and MOP doses showed that the optimum dosage in Typic Paleudult soil types for TM aged 7-12 years was 2.50 kg urea and 3.00 kg MOP / tree / year to achieve the production target of 28 tons of FFB / ha /year.To get the maximum fertilizing effect, fertilization must be done by using the type of fertilizer, the correct method and time of fertilization, and with fertilizer quality that is in accordance with specifications (for example SNI or Indonesian National Standard). An examination of the quality of fertilizers is important so that the company avoids multiple losses that have a large impact on production.

A survey regarding complications of sinus surgery was mailed to 6969 otolaryngologists; 3933 responses (56.44%) were obtained, and 3043 of these physicians (77.37%) reported that they performed ethmoidectomy. Completed questionnaires were available for review from 42.21% of all Academy fellows (2942 physicians). Responses were tabulated and summarized question by question. Physicians generally did not rate their residency training in ethmoidectomy highly. The survey confirmed that there has been a marked rise in the frequency of ethmoidectomy and in the amount of training in ethmoidectomy since 1985. Empirical complication rates were calculated for different procedures and time periods. Poisson regression models were then constructed to describe the rate of complications under varying conditions such as the type of surgery performed, time period, experience and training of the surgeon, and type of complication encountered. The models permitted determination of the statistical significance of variables in relation to Incidence of complications. The study did not demonstrate a clear and consistent statistical relationship between the incidence of complications, the type of surgery performed, and the quality of training. Moreover, physicians who provided data from record review tended to report higher rates than those who estimated responses. The majority of physicians discussed specific potential complications with their patients before surgery and routinely performed preoperative computed tomography. The study demonstrated that physicians who experienced complications at higher rates were more likely to discuss these complications with patients before surgery.

Cheese and yogurt are two kinds of nutritious dairy products that are used worldwide. The major preservatives in dairy products are sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, and natamycin. The maximum permitted levels for these additives in cheese and yogurt are established according to Iranian national standards. In this study, we developed a method to detect these preservatives in dairy products by reversed phase chromatography with UV detection in 220 nm, simultaneously. This method was performed on C18 column with ammonium acetate buffer (pH=5) and acetonitrile (73 : 27 v/v) as mobile phase. The method was carried out on 195 samples in 5 kinds of commercial cheeses and yogurts. The results demonstrated insufficient separation where limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) ranged from 0.326 to 0.520 mg/kg and 0.989 to 1.575 mg/kg in benzoate and sorbate, respectively. The correlation coefficient of each calibration curve was mostly higher than 0.997. All samples contained sodium benzoate in various ranges. Natamycin and sorbate were detected in a remarkable amount of samples, while, according to Iranian national standard, only sorbate is permitted to be added in processed cheeses as a preservative. In order to control the quality of dairy products, determination of preservatives is necessary.

Abstract The determination of flow curves and the apparent viscosity curves at 28°C of creams containing human leukocyte alpha interferon as active principle is presented in this paper. These creams are used for the treatment of papiloma virus and herpes simplex. It is demonstrated that their behaviour corresponds to a thixotropic fluid. The Herschel-Bulkley model parameters are presented and discussed as an indicator of the grade of thixotropy. Apparent viscosity plotted as a function of shear rate and storage time allows defining the time period in which the samples recover their initial structure. Additionally it was concluded that for determining the quality of the product, the acceptance limit of the viscosity should be specified for a given shear rate.

One that influences human resource indicators is education. The teacher is a profession as a job of academic specialization in a relatively long time in college. Understanding related to teacher competence is very important to have by a prospective teacher because it can affect the quality of performance as a professional teacher. The teacher's competence is known as pedagogic, professional, social and personality competencies. The issue in this study is how the competency of the teacher of the Department of Geography Education FKIP Unsyiah as a prospective teacher of geography? The purpose of this study was to determine the competence of teachers in the Department of Geography Education FKIP Unsyiah as prospective geography teachers. Quantitative description approach is used in this study to find answers to the issue. The population in this study were students of the Department of Geography Education FKIP Unsyiah class of 2015 and 2016 who had been declared to have passed the Micro Teaching and Magang Kependidikan 3 course totaling 50 people. Because the population is small and can be reached, the determination of the sample using total sampling techniques so that the sample in this study is the whole population. Data collection is done by distributing test questions to respondents. The data was analyzed using the descriptive statistics percentage formula. The results of the study indicate that the level of teacher competence of Geography Education Department students as prospective teachers is in the moderate category, namely as many as 22 respondents (44%). A total of 12 respondents (24%) were in the high category, 15 respondents (30%) were in the low category and 1 respondent (2%) were in the very low category.

ABSTRACT Oestrogens administered in lower doses than necessary to induce full cornification of the mouse vagina induce mucification. It was shown previously that the degree of mucification could be estimated by quantitative determination of sialic acids. A suitable parameter for oestrogen assay was the measurement of vaginal sialic acid concentration which exhibited a clear cut dose response curve. Eleven assays of various oestrogens were performed with this method. Their estimated relative potencies were in good agreement with other routine oestrogen assays. A statistically sufficient degree of precision was found. The sensitivity was of the same order, or slightly higher, than the Allen-Doisy test.

The article focuses on examining the influence of fluctuations in annual precipitation amount on the quality of surface waters. Water quality was estimated with data on BOD, COD and phosphate–ion concentration within five selected regions of Ukraine. Analysis of the precipitation data (1991 – 2010) showed different regional trends. Using the statistics, determination of the interconnection between precipitation amount and water resources quality were done. The obtained regularities and associated uncertainties can be used for prediction of changes in water resource quality and as a guide for future adaptation to possible climate change.
