The COVID-19 pandemic can be likened to a “mirror” that shows the authenticity of church ministries’ real face. Before the pandemic, there had been observations emerging from various kinds of literature, research, and various experiences in the ministry context that showed a separation between biblical theology and the ministry’s praxis and the neglect of the primary things in the ministry. These two observations seem to be proven to be true during the pandemic. In three studies on church services conducted in Indonesia during the pandemic, namely a series of researches from Bilangan Research Center, National Survey and National Dialogue from South East Asia Bible Seminary, Malang, as well as a series of researches from the Center for the Church Growth Studies of Amanat Agung Theological School, Jakarta, it was found that the church still has a disproportionate concept of theodicy. The church services are still very dependent on the clergy’s role as professionals and narrowly centered merely on the worship ministry. There is also a serious gap between the older and the younger generation, and church services are not yet ready to deal with technology. Responding to this reality, the writers propose that the church needs to refocus its post-pandemic ministry in six ways, namely: building a theological vision that can be embodied in the ministry, making worship ministry a central but not as a center in ministry, developing family-based discipleship, strengthening pastoral ministry that emphasizes deep personal relationships, paying attention to ministering the next generation, and prioritize the sending capacity rather than solely the seating capacity.

ABSTRACT The leadership crisis in the church, especially the church pastor, is a very touching phenomenon. How not, this crisis affects the church's growth, especially spiritual growth. Because of this crisis, so here and there many congregations then no longer heed their faith, and even chose to leave Jesus. The cause of this crisis is none other than the pastors of the church who do not know what their principles are in carrying out pastoral care. This article examines the principles of a church pastor. The principle of shepherding will be explored based on the text of the Gospel of John 10: 1-21, which is a parable told by Jesus about the Good Shepherd. When a pastor in the church understands what the principles of a pastor are, it will certainly be an advantage that that way the ministry in the church will run well. Writing this article uses a qualitative approach with literature review. This approach seeks to analyze the text of the Gospel of John 10: 1-21 with various sources from books and online journals. This research shows that in the Gospel of John there are several principles of a shepherd, namely, shepherding is a calling, caring for, and sacrifice. These three things must be interpreted properly as a pastor, to lead to a ministry that is oriented towards church growth from various aspects, not a pastoral ministry that is only selfish or just looking for profit.ABSTRAKKrisis kepemimpinan dalam Gereja khususnya gembala jemaat adalah sebuah fenomena yang begitu mengharukan.

It is well known that the seeds from which the modern discipline of OT theology grew are already found in 17th and 18th century discussion of the relationship between Bible and Church, which tended to drive a wedge between the two, regarding canon in historical rather than theological terms; stressing the difference between what is transient and particular in the Bible and what is universal and of abiding significance; and placing the task of deciding which is which upon the shoulders of the individual reader rather than upon the church. Free investigation of the Bible, unfettered by church tradition and theology, was to be the way ahead. OT theology finds its roots more particularly in the 18th century discussion of the nature of and the relationship between Biblical Theology and Dogmatic Theology, and in particular in Gabler's classic theoreticalstatementof their nature and relationship. The first book which may strictly be called an OT theology appeared in 1796: an historical discussion of the ideas to be found in the OT, with an emphasis on their probable origin and the stages through which Hebrew religious thought had passed, compared and contrasted with the beliefs of other ancient peoples, and evaluated from the point of view of rationalistic religion. Here we find the unreserved acceptance of Gabler's principle that OT theology must in the first instance be a descriptive and historical discipline, freed from dogmatic constraints and resistant to the premature merging of OT and NT — a principle which in the succeeding century was accepted by writers across the whole theological spectrum, including those of orthodox and conservative inclination.

AbstractIn the midst of a growing awareness of spiritual gifts in contemporary church culture and in the academy, much confusion exists. The use of the term 'charismata' promotes this confusion and is not an appropriate label for the biblical evidence of such activity. The problem lies in a deficient linguistic and exegetical handling of this term—a problem identified by James Barr long ago and brought to the fore by Kenneth Berding. Proper exegesis overcomes this prevalent exegetical and linguistic fallacy and suggests another term, diakonia. However, a more foundational conception of both the church and ministry is lacking. By analyzing Pauline anthropol ogy in Romans, an enduring and foundational model for gifts and ministries emerges. This model is the Pauline conception of the church as God's tem ple. People who are delivered from sin's power through identifying with Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection and who have the Spirit are free to give themselves both as sacrifice and temple servants in spiritual ministries. One other caution is raised and discussed. One must avoid the charge in practice and theology of Spirit-monism. Basic structures of the New Testament always place Jesus as the One through whom the Spirit comes. Conse quently, all Spirit activity must in some way be christological and sote riological in nature. Some contemporary applications are derived from this biblical theology of Church and ministry.

The study of the life circumstances of clergymen in the first half of the 20th century is an important part of the study of the history of the Russian Orthodox Church. It allows us to trace in detail some of the processes and phenomena that took place in the Church in that period, using concrete examples. This article is about the priest Peter Ilyinsky, who served forty years in a rural parish. His ministry is presented in chronological order: his teaching and economic activities are followed by a description of his publicist writings and ending with a description of his family and confessional deeds. This work is a testimony to the extraordinary pastoral ministry of the Priest Peter at a crucial point in the life of our nation, and illustrates the historical era of the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century with concrete examples.
