The growth of microfinance has been tremendous in recent years. In this regard SHG has been playing very eye catching role in mobilizing resources, empowering women, so and so forth. The SHG movement in India has been working in proper direction in reducing poverty and creating employment opportunities as well. Numbers of women in India firmly believe in SHG movement and hold it responsible for improving their livelihood. However women are still yet to empowered according to the requirement or demand. The present study is an systemetic attempt to analyse the impotance of SHG’s in promoting women empowerment in Morigaon district. Lahorighat and Mayong block have been selected for the investigation. Broader objective of the present study is to examine the operating system of SHGs for mobilization of savings, credit delivery machanism to the needy, opinion building among SHG members regarding decision making and enhancement of power or autonomy. For the purpose of study boath primary and secondary data have been collected. The study focus on the role and importance of SHGs in empowering women, Social interrelatedness and Socio-economic betterment of the poor women for their unification.

Microfinance institutions’ plays a crucial role for the upliftment of rural women. Women are the key of a nation development. So in order to attain the development of a nation there is need to empower the women of our nation. Microfinance institutions have always seen as a tool of poverty alleviation as they provide the facility of financial services to the needy and the weaker section of the society without any collateral security. And it proved itself as a tool of poverty alleviation. Thus it also a vaccine for women empowerment. Empowerment of women can be done with the help of Self-Help-Group. Where 10-12 women form a group with same socio-economic background and they were trained, educated so they may uplift their family, their society and ultimately the nation as whole. The objective of this paper is to understand the different dimension of women empowerment with the help of microfinance. And from the study it was seen women should be psychologically, economically and Socially Empowered and it all comes with the help of microfinance. And microfinance proved that it a vaccine for the empowerment of women.

The purpose of this study to determine the utilization of ZIS funds by LAZ Al-Azhar Surabaya in community groups in Laharpang Hamlet through economic empowerment. The research is descriptive qualitative with the case study method.LAZ Al-Azhar by using qualitative method. interviews were conducted with five respondents consisting of two parties from LAZ Al-Azhar and three group members. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The results of the study indicate that the utilization of Al-Azhar ZIS LAZ funds in the Lamor Kelud Sejahtera Community Self-Help Group (SHG) was carried out through the Million Empowerment Program. Empowerment of SHG provided is in the form of assistance, supervision, capital loans, and Joint Business Groups (KUB). This is evidenced by the increase in revenue mustahiq, smoothness installment payments as well as the ability to sadaqah.Keywords: Utilization of Zakat Infaq Shadaqa, LAZ Al-Azhar, Empowerment, Lamor Kelud Sejahtera KSM.

Self Help Groups are small voluntary associations of rural people, preferably womenfolk from the same socioeconomic background. They come together to solve common problems.The empowerment of women through Self Help Groups (SHGs) would lead to benefits not only to the individual women but also for the family and community as a whole through collective action for development. This paper is an attempt to analyze the women empowerment through self-help group. A simple random sampling technique is used to collect data. Both primary and secondary data were used. Fifty self-help group members’samples were collected through a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed through statistical tools such as a percentage. This study concludes that the economic activities of the Self Help Group are quite successful. In this way Self Help Group in Sankarankovil Taluk Velappanadaroor area the very successful develop women empowerment and rural areas.


The Indian Self-Help Group (SHG) movement has been working in the exact direction in recent years to empower women and eradicate poverty in rural and urban areas. Women in India have a strong confidence in the campaign and are responsible for improving their livelihoods. The present study is to evaluate the quality of SHGs chosen for the investigation from the district of Kanchipuram and the district of Chennai. The study's broad goal is to analyze the SHGs operating system for saving mobilization, credit delivery to the needy, repayment of loans, and building SGH members ' opinion on increased decision-making power. All primary and secondary data are obtained and demographic information analyzes age, family structure, and number of dependents in the household. The study emphasizes the role of SHGs for their integration in empowering women, social cohesion, and socio-economic improvement of the poor.

Women in the Indian perspective constitute a more orthodox and conservative section of society and this has been reflected throughout times immemorial. Therefore, their participation and empowerment in any walk of life are viewed as a sign of progress, particularly in the case of an economic field. The concept of SHGs has been a revolutionary breakthrough in the process of women empowerment and has resulted in their upliftment through elevating their status. Microfinance institution started in India in the 1980s through self-help groups (SHGs) model.Since then women empowerment through SHG (Self Help Group) based microfinance has been central to development agenda in India. Self-help group projects were launched by Government of India, with the financial assistance from IFAD and empower rural poor women through microfinance.This paper is an attempt to know, what is the impact SHGs as an instrument of socio-economic change through women empowerment and poverty eradication in the rural areas of Bhopal, In which microfinance plays a pivotal role.

Women are the nucleus of our civilization. They have different roles to play in the ever changing social set-up. Women’s development is directly related with the nation development. With the dawn of independence our constitution guaranteed gender equality and a large number of schemes and programs have been initiated for women’s development. Women usually falls under the powerless group which necessitates the programmes ensured empowerment of women. Now a days; empowerment especially women empowerment has become a buzz word especially in the context of development of rural poor and women. Empowering the poor for their development is one of the top most prioritized agenda in development paradigm of every developing and underdeveloped country. Empowerment of women may normally mean equal access to & control over important productive resources. Women empowerment, therefore, may normally describe as a process by which women would be able to develop their confidence level & increase their inner strength & self reliance to decide and determine their important choices in life. The socio-economic empowerment of women achieved through SHG may be divided into dimensions of Economic, Social, Political, Personal, Institutional, Organisational, and Familial.

            Self Help Group (SHG) in its present form of development orientation, owed its origin to the starting of the Grameen Bank, founded by Mohamed Yunus of Bangladesh, the Nobel Prize Winner for Peace for the year 2006.  The experience of Bangladesh had proved to the world the banking wisdom in helping the women and the poor people to improve their economic condition and to overcome their problem of poverty.

Women empowerment is a process in which women challenge the existing norms and culture, to effectively promote their well being. The participation of women in Self Help Groups (SHGs) made a significant impact on their empowerment both in social and economical aspects This study addresses women empowerment through self help groups in Dharmapuri district of Tamilnadu . The information required for the study has been collected from both the primary and secondary sources A multistage random sampling method has been followed. Average and percentage analysis was carried out to draw meaningful interpretation of the results. Garret ranking technique was used to find the reasons for joining the Self help group. Factor analysis was used to measure thedetermine the relationship between the observed variables The results of the study revealed that the SHGs have had greater impact on both economic and social aspects of the beneficiaries.
