The aim of this study is to evaluate the views of Physical Education and Sports Candidate Teacher studying in sports education units of universities about Distance Education and to determine the relationship between them. A total of 148 teacher candidates, 79 (53.40%) female and 69 (46.60%) male, studying in different departments of the Physical Education and Sports School of Kafkas University participated in the study. IBM SPSS Statistics v22 package program was used in the statistical analysis of the data. The skewness and kurtosis test were used to test the data for normality and it was determined that the data did not have a normal distribution. In order to evaluate whether the data is homogeneous; “Anova-Homogenety of variance” test was applied and it was determined that the data were not homogeneous. It was observed that the total score average of the "attitudes towards distance education" of the Physical Education and Sports School students was 103.50±13.02. When examined in terms of gender, it was determined that the mean score of male students was 105.02±13.41 and that of female students was 102.16±.12.60. When examined in terms of place of residence, 86 (58.10) students living with their families are 104.44±12.15, students living in student housing/own house 31 (20.90) are 100.70±15.95, 15 (10.10) in dormitories. 105.06±5.16 and lastly 102.37±16.33 points in 16 of the relatives (10.8) households were determined. When examined in terms of the department, it was found that the 43(49.3) department of Teaching was 102±78, the coaching department was 30(20.30), 103.36±8.15, and finally the 45(30.4) department was found to be 104.75±11.96. As a result; in the study, in which the opinions of the students studying in the sports education institutions of the universities about Distance Education are evaluated, it is seen that it is similar to the literature and is in an acceptable range. In this research, information about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Distance education was given to prospective sci-ence teachers and the integration of STEM into courses was emphasized. On the other hand, an experimental study was conducted to support the re-search on STEM Education and distance education. The study group of this research consisted of 328 science teacher candidates studying in the 4th grade of university. Some of these students were randomly selected as the experimental group and the others as the control group. In the study carried out in the science laboratory course, while the course was taught according to STEM Education and Distance Education in the experimental group; In the control group, the lessons continued as normal. The application in ques-tion was carried out based on a quasi-experimental study. The study was implemented during the 2020-2021 fall semester. Before the application, the learning level test, which was valid and reliable, was applied regarding the subjects. As a result of the application, a significant difference was found between the students in the experimental group and the students in the control group in favor of the experimental group in which STEM Educa-tion and Distance Education were applied. In line with these results, STEM Education and Distance Education were found to be effective in improving the success of university teacher candidates, and it was added to the re-search results.

Distance education is used for teacher training at different levels and fields in Turkey. Launched in the 2000-2001 academic year and still applied by Anadolu University, the Pre-School Teacher Training Program is one of those programs offered by distance education. This study aims to evaluate Anadolu University’s Preschool Teacher Training Program in Turkey by obtaining student opinions. A total of 1,026 senior students enrolled in the Preschool Education major at the Open Education Faculty of Anadolu University participated in the survey. A questionnaire to determine the opinions of students on the program was used as a means of data collection. Means (X) and standard deviations (SD) were employed to analyze the survey data. The results showed that although the teacher candidates study at a good level, they do not have a good record of watching the television programs. The results also revealed that the opinions of teacher candidates about the textbooks, television programs, teaching practices, and academic assistance services are positive.

The following research reports on a collaborative effort between two university field supervisors for an elementary teacher preparation program in the Pacific southwest. Utilizing practitioner inquiry and situated learning as conceptual frameworks, the authors qualitatively examine the experiences ten elementary education teacher candidates have with promoting student engagement during emergency response teaching because of the COVID-19 pandemic. An interpretive phenomenological analysis of 20 lesson reflections and supervisor observation notes reveals teacher candidates (TCs) need more support with questioning, feedback and formative assessment, and technology tools to keep students engaged when teaching at a distance. Recommendations suggest a need for teacher preparation programs to provide TCs with opportunities to practice engagement strategies in distance education settings.
