Antioxidant are compounds that are able to inactivate the development of the oxidation reactions of the molecules or neutralize free radicals. Mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) has properties as a medicinal plant. Through the phytochemical screening, the mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) contains antioxidant compounds such as alkaloids, saponins and phenolics. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of antioxsidant activity in the extract of mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.). using the DPPH method with a concentration of 250 mg / L, 200 mg / L, 150 mg / L and 100 mg / L and Vitamin C p.a as a positive control. Each sample made three repetitions of the test. The test uses a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The result of the study showed that mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) showed antioxidant activity with the percentage of 21,50% at the concentration at 250 mg / LKeywords : Swietenia mahagoni Jacq., Antioxidant, Ethanol, DPPHABSTRAKAntioksidan ialah senyawa yang mampu menginaktivasi berkembangnya reaksi oksidasi molekul lain atau menetralisir radikal bebas. Mengandung senyawa antioksidan seperti alkaloid, saponin dan fenolik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya aktivitas antioksidan didalam ekstrak tanaman Kulit Batang Switenia mahagoni Jacq. menggunakan metode DPPH dengan konsentrasi 250 mg/L, 200 mg/L, 150 mg/L dan 100 mg/L dan Vitamin C p.a sebagai kontrol positif. Masing-masing sampel dibuat tiga kali pengulangan uji. Pengujian menggunakan alat Spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak Kulit Batang Swietenia mahagoni Jacq. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan presentase sebesar 21,50% pada konsentrasi 250 mg/L Kata Kunci : Swietenia mahagoni Jacq., Antioksidan, Etanol, DPPH

Antioxidants are compounds that can delay, reduce, slow down or inhibit oxidation reactions from free radical reactions. Antioxidants donate electrons to unstable free radicals so that these free radicals can be neutralized to not interfere with the body's metabolic processes. Red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa has potential as an antioxidant. The study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa against DPPH free radicals based on the IC50 value. Phytochemical testing and determination of antioxidant activity were carried out using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), which was carried out quantitatively using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the phytochemical screening of red seaweed ethanol extract contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and polyphenols and the IC50 value of red seaweed ethanol extract was 4.59 ppm, while the positive control for Vitamin C was 6.64 ppm. It was concluded that the ethanolic extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa in the South Aceh District had high antioxidant potential, as evidenced by the small IC50 value of <50 µg/mL.Keywords: Antioxidants, Galauxara rugosa, phytochemicals, DPPH  ABSTRAKAktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang mampu menunda, memperkecil, memperlambat atau menghambat reaksi oksidasi dari reaksi radikal bebas. Antioksidan menyumbangkan elektron kepada radikal bebas yang tidak stabil sehingga radikal bebas ini dapat dinetralkan agar tidak mengganggu jalannya proses metabolisme tubuh. Rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa berpotensi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa terhadap radikal bebas DPPH berdasarkan nilai IC50. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian fitokimia dan penentuan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) yang dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari skrining fitokimia ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan polifenol serta nilai IC50 ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah sebesar 4,59 ppm sedangkan kontrol positif Vitamin C sebesar 6,64 ppm. Ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa di Kabupaten Aceh Selatan memiliki potensi antioksidan yang tinggi. dibuktikan dengan nilai IC50 yang yang kecil yaitu < 50 µg/mL.Kata kunci: Antioksidan, Galauxara rugosa, Fitokimia, DPPH

ABSTRACT Antioxidant are compounds that can inhibit the oxidation rate of other molecules or neutralize free radicals. Putri Malu Leaf (Mimosa pudica Linn.) is not yet widely known as a medicinal plant. Through phytochemical screening, Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves known to have antioxidant compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins and coumarin. This study aims to determine how much the antioxidant content in the extract of Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves using DPPH method with a concentration of 100 mg/L, 75 mg/L, 50 mg/L and 25 mg/L and Vitamin C as a positive control. Each sampel was made three repetitions of the test. The test uses a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. The highest results were obtained from the concentration of 100 mg/L in the second repetition of 89.74%. The highest average percentage  of yield obtained is at a concentration of 100 mg/L. Based on the result obtained from Mimosa pudica Linn. leaf extract seems like that the ethanol extract of Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves has high antioxidant activity. Keywords: Antioxidant, DPPH, Mimosa pudica Linn.  ABSTRAK Antioksidan  ialah senyawa yang mampu menghambat laju oksidasi molekul lain atau menetralisir radikal bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kandungan antioksidan didalam ekstrak tanaman daun Mimosa pudica Linn.menggunakan metode DPPH dengan konsentrasi 100 mg/L, 75 mg/L, 50 mg/L dan 25 mg/L dan Vitamin C sebagai kontrol positif. Masing-masing sampel dibuat tiga kali pengulangan uji.Pengujian menggunakan alat Spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Terlihat hasil tertinggi diperoleh dari konsentrasi 100 mg/L pada pengulangan ke-II yaitu sebesar 89,74%. Rata-rata persentase hasil yang diperoleh tertinggi ialah pada konsentrasi 100 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dari ekstrak daun Mimosa pudica Linn.terlihat bahwa ekstrak etanol daun Mimosa pudica Linn. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi.  Kata Kunci : Antioksidan, DPPH,Mimosa pudica Linn.

ABSTRACTHabitat of sponge Stylissa sp., were under the sea and these sponges contain active compounds, which are more active than the compounds produced by terrestrial plants. Antioxidants are inhibitors of oxidation reactions due to the free radicals, which can cause weak damage to unsaturated cells, cell wall membranes, blood vessels, DNA bases, and lipid tissue, that causing disease. The study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts  of sponge Stylissa sp., which is located on the Bangka Island, Likupang District, North Minahasa Regency. Sponge Stylissa sp., was extracted by maceration with using ethanol. Testing of antioxidant activity was carried out by the DPPH method measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the study showed that ethanol extracts of sponge Stylissa sp., has antioxidant activity in each concentration and the highest at a concentration of 100 mg / L. The conclusion is a ethanol extract of sponge Stylissa sp. have high antioxidant activity with a concentration of 25 mg/L (77,40%), concentration of 50 mg/L (85,63%), concentration of 75 mg/L (88,66%), and concentration 100 mg/L (88,96%). Key words: Stylissa sp. Sponge, Antioxidant, DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) ABSTRAKHabitat dari spons Stylissa sp. terdapat di bawah laut dan spons ini mengandung senyawa aktif yang persentase keaktifannya lebih besar dibandingkan dengan senyawa-senyawa yang dihasilkan oleh tumbuhan darat. Antioksidan adalah zat penghambat reaksi oksidasi akibat radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan lemah tak jenuh, membran dinding sel, pembuluh darah, basa DNA, dan jaringan lipid sehingga menimbulkan penyakit. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol biota laut spons Stylissa sp. yang terdapat di pulau Bangka, Kecamatan Likupang, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Spons Stylissa sp. ini diekstrak dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan ini dilakukan dengan metode DPPH yang diukur dengan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak etanol spons Stylissa sp. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan disetiap konsentrasi dan yang tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100 mg/L. Kesimpulan yang didapat bahwa ekstrak etanol spons Stylissa sp. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi dengan konsentrasi 25 mg/L (77,40%), konsentrasi 50 mg/L (85,63%), konsentrasi 75 mg/L (88,66%), dan konsentrasi 100 mg/L (88,96%). Kata Kunci : Spons Stylissa sp., Antioksidan, DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil)

ABSTRACTDayak onion plant (Eleutherine americana Merr.) or commonly called forest onion is a typical plant of Central Kalimantan that has been used by local peoples for cure a various types of diseases. This study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from Dayak bulb ethanol extracts from Kotamobagu City. This research method is an experimental laboratory. Initially the Dayak bulb sample was extracted maceration with 96% ethanol solvent then evaporated until a thick extract was obtained. As a parameter, the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) was used to test the antioxidant activity of the samples at concentrations of 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 mg / L and as a comparison standard used Vitamin C with concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mg / L. The results obtained showed antioxidant activity in Dayak bulb ethanol extracts with IC50 values of 41.46 mg / L and on vitamin C IC50 values of 1.04 mg / L. Based on these results it can be concluded that the onion bulb ethanol extract has very strong antioxidant activity. Keywords: Dayak Onion bulbs, Activity, Antioxidant, DPPH  ABSTRAK Tanaman bawang Dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.) atau biasa disebut bawang hutan merupakan tanaman khas Kalimantan Tengah yang sudah dipergunakan masyarakat lokal sebagai obat berbagai jenis penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas senyawa antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak yang berasal dari Kota Kotamobagu. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Awalnya sampel bulbus bawang Dayak diekstraksi maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96% kemudian dievaporasi hingga didapatkan ekstrak kental. Sebagai parameter, digunakan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) untuk pengujian aktivitas antioksidan sampel pada konsentrasi 50, 60, 70, 80 dan 90 mg/L dan sebagai standar pembanding digunakan Vitamin C dengan konsentrasi 2, 4, 6, 8 dan 10 mg/L. Hasil penelitian yang didapat menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 41,46 mg/L dan pada vitamin C nilai IC50 sebesar 1,04 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat. Kata kunci: Bulbus Bawang Dayak, Aktivitas, Antioksidan, DPPH

ABSTRACT Sponges are a component of coral reef biota that has bioactive compounds with a greater percentage of activity compared to compounds produced by terrestrial plants. This study aims to determine the presence of antioxidant activity in the ethanol extracts of sponge Ianthella basta from the waters of Tumbak Village. Ianthella basta sponge was extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant activity testing was carried out using the DPPH method with a concentration of 100 µg / mL, 75 μg / mL, 50 μg / mL, and 25 μg / mL and Vitamin C p.a as positive control. Each sample was made three repetitions of the test. Testing using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the Ianthella basta sponge had antioxidant activity with a percentage of 48.73% at a concentration of 100 µg / mL. Keywords: Ianthella basta sponge, Antioxidants, Extraction, DPPH  ABSTRAK Spons merupakan salah satu komponen biota penyusun terumbu karang yang mempunyai senyawa bioaktif dengan persentase keaktifan lebih besar dibandingkan dengan senyawa-senyawa yang dihasilkan oleh tumbuhan darat. Free radicals are one of the cause of various diseases. The use of synthetic antioxidant compounds could prevent the effect of the free radicals, however may cause adverse effects on the human body such as impaired liver, lung, intestinal and poisoning. Therefore antioxidant from natural resources needs to be developed. The purpose of this research was to determine the antioxidant activity and IC50 value of the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxbs.) leaves. Ganitri leaf ethanol extract activity test was carried out using DPPH method with vitamin C as a standard. Antioxidant activity was determined as a decreas in the absorbance of DPPH at 517 nm wavelength after an addition of the extract with the concentrations of 20, 40, 80, and 100 ppm. The antioxidant acitivity measurement of the ganitri leaf extract showed that the linier regression equation obtained was y = 0.3669x + 29.546, r = 0.4573 while the IC50 value was 54,12 ppm. Based on the result, it is concluded that the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.) leaf showed was categorized as strong antioxidant.

Free radicals are molecules that lose electrons in their outer orbitals so that the number of electrons becomes odd and unstable. Free radicals can damage various macromolecule cells including proteins, carbohydrates, fats. Antioxidants are compounds that can donate one or more electrons to free radicals. Avocado leaves contain high bioactive components that can be used as a source of natural antioxidants. Avocado leaves that have been dried, mashed and then shifted with methanol. The extracts were tested by phytochemical screening, including flavonpoid, phenolic, tannin and antioxidant activity using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhidrazyl) method. This method is based on the reduction of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) against free radicals which causes a change from purple to yellow 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) (DPPH). From the research, the IC50 values ​​in avocado leaves were 118.8056 µg / mL and 7,276 µg / mL on ascorbic acid as a positive control. From the IC50 value obtained, it is known that the methanol extract of avocado leaves has strong antioxidant activity to fight free radicals.

ABSTRACT Extract Ethanol of Manila Sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.)  contain flavonoid compound with antioxidant activity. Aim of this research is to find out ethanol  extract of manila sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.) has antioxidant activity with DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). Extract was made by using maceration  method by using ethanol liquid 70%. Ethanol extract of manila sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.) was made main liquid 1000 ppm after that therewere dilution of 20, 40, 60, and 80 ppm. Positive control (Vitamin C) with concentration 2, 4, 6, and 8 ppm. Each of concentration was taken 1 ml then added 2 ml of DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) liquid, and then it is  homogent and incubated during 30 minutes. After that, measurement of spectrophotometer UV-Vis was conducted in wave length of 517 nm. Result of data was analyzed by using absorbansi with grapic of concentration relationship with percentage of DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) inhibition. Result of research shows that ethanol  extract of manila sapodilla (Acrhras zapota L.) was proven has the antioxidant activity very strong with IC50  8,2786 µg/mL. Keywords : Manila Sapodilla, DPPH, Antioxidant, Spectrophotometer. ABSTRAK Ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.)  mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.) memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). Ekstrak dibuat dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.) dibuat larutan induk 1000 ppm setelah  itu dilakukan pengenceran 20, 40, 60, dan 80 ppm. Kontrol positif (Vitamin C) dengan konsentrasi 2, 4, 6, dan 8 ppm. Dari masing-masing konsentrasi diambil 1 ml lalu di tambahkan 2 ml larutan DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil), kemudian dihomogenkan dan diinkubasi selama 30 menit. Setelah itu,dilakukan pengukuran spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Data hasil dianalisis pengukuran absorbansi menggunakan grafik hubungan konsentrasi dengan persen inhibisi DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun sawo manila (Acrhras zapota L.) terbukti memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50  8,2786 µg/mL. Kata kunci : Sawo Manila, DPPH, Antioksidan, Spektrofotometer.

Background: Cajuína is obtained through clarification of cashew apple juice (Anacardium occidentale L.), a non-diluted and non-fermented beverage, which is prepared from the edible part of the pseudo-fruit. Objective: This study sought to identify and quantify phenolic compounds, determine vitamin C content, total flavonoid content, and the antioxidant activity of two commercial brands of clarified cashew apple juice (cajuína) produced in Piauí, Brazil. Methods: Spectrophotometric and high performance liquid chromatography were used. Results: A high vitamin C content was found mainly in brand A. A high total phenolic content was observed in brand A, and there was no significant difference in flavonoid content between the two brands. Cajuína had high antioxidant activity, which was confirmed by two methods. The highest value was found for brand A by the DPPH method. Conclusion: We concluded that this clarified cashew apple juice has a high antioxidant compound content, and it is a functional food.

This study aimed to investigate phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity of n–hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol extract from lakoocha leaves. The powdered simplicia was macerated with n–hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol 96% successively, filtered, then concentrated using rotary evaporator to obtain n–hexane extract, ethyl acetate extract and ethanol extract. Phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity was performed against these extracts. Antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging method using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer at wavelength of 516 nm after incubated for 60 minutes in dark place. Quercetin was used as positive control. The result of phytochemical screening showed n-hexane extract contains steroid, ethyl acetate extract contain steroid, tannin, glycoside, flavonoid and saponin, whereas ethanol extract contain tannin, glycoside, flavonoid and saponin. The IC50 value of n–hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol extract was 1062.03±1.42 ppm, 323.18±0.02 ppm and 99.23±0.07 ppm respectively, whereas for quercetin was 2.32±0.01 ppm. This study showed that ethanol extract had antioxidant activity with strong category whereas n-hexane extract and ethyl acetate extract had inactive antioxidant activity with very weak categories.       Keyword: Antioxidant Activity, DPPH, Lakoocha leaf
