During and after his lifetime Joachim I, Greek Patriarch of Alexandria (born 1448 1567, patriarch since 1486/7), has been cherished as a Wonderworker. The most famous legend dedicated to him depicts the Patriarch who drains the cup of poison under Mamluk Sultans order as validation for the Christian Faith and stays safe. Amazing is that this mythical legend was formed during the Patriarchs lifetime, more then that, Russian legate Vasily Pozniakov in 1560 recorded that story from Joahims own words. The article attempts to analyse the miracles signed to the Patriarch of Alexandria through Russian, Arab Christian and Greek sources, and to sort out of topoi and circulating literature plots real life events, upon which the legend could be based . The spotlight falls upon the Middle East Christians antiJewish discourse, the plot of a dispute at a royal court and a trial for a righteous Christian, who did miracles to verify his faith. The legend about a mountain that moved in response to Patriarch Joachims preyer, origins from the 10th century Copt folklore and is no doubt a Myth. Though the legend about the poison to be drained, which definitely has multiple duplicates in the Middle East Christian literature epic of Johns of Edessa miracles (9th century AD), in particular, contains the whole range of unique facts and data new to the hagiographic tradition and probably related to the real circumstances of Joachims trial. Likewise, the Life of Theophilos the Myrrhstreamer (died in 1548), the ascetic from Mount Athos, confirms the story of Joachims miracle, irrespectively of the ArabChristian sources. Comparison of the Life of Theophilius and the ArabMoslem chronicles of Ibn Iyas (late 15th early 16th century) allows the estimation that Joachim was tried with poison in the period between April and June 1498. The article attempts to reconstruct the historical context of this event. Carefully examined are the genesis of the Joachims Miracles Legend and the circumstances of its written records.

This article explores two plays, Khamsūn (Fifty/Bodies Hostages) and Yaḥia Yaïsh (Amnesia), by Jalila Baccar and Fadhel Jaïbi, and a street performance (‘Ben Ali Fled!’) by a Tunisian citizen who was filmed celebrating the defeat of Ben Ali. The article examines Khamsūn's expression of fear of Islamic fundamentalism. Yaḥia Yaïsh not only shows the figure of a government leader who abuses his power, but also foretells the imminent fall of this leader, followed by an attempt to run away from being brought to justice, remarkably predicting the real-life events that soon materialized during the Tunisian Revolution, with slight differences between the two falls. Finally, the article considers both plays as theatrical experiences that are not enclosed within a confined space, but were re-enacting events happening in the streets of Tunisia.

This article uses contrasting examples of the most recent Divas' Champions to explore some of the paradoxes and contradictions within the portrayal of women in World Wrestling Entertainment programming. Although WWE is self-confessedly 'sports entertainment', with a 'creative' scriptwriting team, on-screen it maintains the position that what is being seen is 'real', often blurring the edges between reality and fiction by using real-life events in storylines. This paper looks at the three strands of the WWE's slogan for the Divas (the term they use to refer to the women on their roster) – ‘sexy, smart and powerful’ – and examines how these qualities are described and portrayed in their programming through the characters of recent champions. I suggest that WWE remains slightly uncomfortable with ‘women fighting’, demonstrated historically by the Divas' positioning as ‘popcorn matches’ – the filler or break before the ‘real business’ of the men's titles. I argue that they now thus prefer their Divas to embody the apparently ultimately desirable qualities of ‘sexy, smart and powerful’ within the reality TV setting of the E! programme Total Divas, removing them from the ring as well as the expectation of the ‘unfeminine’ behaviours of fighting and competition, and securing, further, broader mainstream media attention for the company.

Overlooked or ignored for decades by music historians and specialists in performance practices, the real-life Trapp Family Singers achieved enormous success especially in Canada and the United States during the late 1930s, 1940s, and early 1950s through their appeal to—and consequent reception in terms of—"family values." These values included, but were not altogether limited to, the Trapp's Christian faith, patriotic activities, and contributions to charitable causes, as well as the wholesome image associated with the family's private lives, their Vermont "Sing Weeks," and their more than 1,800 estimated concert appearances.

Most curriculum components of archival graduate programmes consist of contextual knowledge, archival knowledge, complementary knowledge, practicum, and scholarly research. The practicum, now commonly known as experiential learning in the global hub, is now widely accepted in library and information studies (LIS) education as necessary and important. It is through experiential learning that, over and above the theoretical aspects of a profession, students are provided with the opportunity to learn by doing in a workplace environment. The University of Botswana’s Master’s in Archives and Records Management (MARM) programme has a six weeks experiential learning programme whose purpose is to expose prospective archivists and/or records managers to the real archival world in terms of practice as informed by archival theory. The main objective of the study was to determine the extent to which the University of Botswana’s experiential learning component exposes students to real-life archival work to put into practice theoretical aspects learnt in the classroom as intended by the university guidelines. This study adopted a qualitative research design and collected data through interviews from participants selected through purposive and snowball sampling strategies. Documentary review supplemented the interviews. The data collected were analysed thematically in line with research objectives. The study determined that experiential learning does indeed expose students to the real world of work. It thus helps to bridge the gap between archival theory and practice for students without archives and records management work experience. For those with prior archival experience, experiential learning does not add value. This study recommends that students with prior archives and records management experience should rather, as an alternative to experiential learning, undertake supervised research, and write a research essay in a chosen thematic area in archives and records management.
