After nearly 20 years of development, agricultural S&T parks in Beijing have become an important carrier and the leading force for the metropolitan modern agriculture development in the capital, and an important model for the modern agriculture development in metropolis. But in the process of the agricultural S&T parks development, low park productivity, insufficient regional integrated development and sustainable development fatigue widely exist. Under the construction of "World City with Chinese Characteristics" and "Humanistic, S&T and Green Beijing", agricultural S&T parks are facing higher development requirements, and it has become a very urgent need to innovatively transform the model of agricultural S&T parks development from "introduction-demonstration-popularization" to "innovation-service-combination of the two". In this paper, based on the scientific analysis of the current situation of agricultural S&T parks in Beijing and the objective analysis of the environmental conditions, by applying such theoretic approaches as strategic analysis, value analysis, knowledge network and so on, the author proposes the innovative development model for agricultural S&T parks in Beijing, including path model of "integration of urban and rural development" at regional level, business model of "three-chain integration" at park operation level and the profitability model of "knowledge creation" at enterprise level. Thees innovative models are of great significance to the sustainable development of agricultural S&T parks in Beijing and other metropolis.

To realize the goal of reducing carbon emission per unit of GDP by 40-45 percent by 2020 from 2005 levels in China, as a big agriculture city in a big agriculture province, Hubei Province, Huanggang city developing low-carbon agriculture is extremely urgent. According to the data in 1995-2011, the gross agricultural output value is regressed on “high-carbon” and “low-carbon” variables, and then based on the variables’ significance, low-carbon agriculture development status quo of Huanggang city is discriminating. It turned out that all variables have significant effects on the gross agricultural output value, and combining with calculated contributing ratio of each factor, the conclusion of agriculture of Huanggang city running on a high-carbon path is drawn. Hence, the policy proposals of returning agriculture development mode of low-carbon and sustainable is put forward lastly.

Developing modern agriculture, promoting the transformation and upgrading of agriculture, and improving the comprehensive benefits of agriculture are important targets for winning the fight against poverty and the inherent requirements and key links for implementing the rural revitalization strategy. As a large agricultural city in northeastern Sichuan, Dazhou City is facing a crucial period of transition from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture. This paper mainly analyzes the status quo of modern agriculture development in Dazhou and the main constraints it faces, and puts forward reasonable suggestions to provide reference for modern agricultural development in Dazhou.

The traditional dwelling is an important milestone in the architectural history of China and it has been proved to be adopting of natural environment. In this work, Edong of Hubei Province was selected as research area to investigate the building technology and its aesthetic characteristics of the traditional dwellings. This study has been conducted using the methodologies such as data collection, field investigation and comparative analysis. Main findings of this work are include: the construction site of the traditional dwellings is in accordance with the traditional Chinese feng-shui, which most of the houses built in mountain with facing water as well as located in north with facing south; the structure of the dwellings mainly consists of carrying beam, puncture bucket,Carrying beam and puncture bucket structure hybrid, brick-wood structure; for building materials, stone, wood and brick are the common stuffs. In general, wood pillars with stone foundation which shaped as drum, square, melon, bottle, octagonal-pier and so on. The foundation of the column is formed often related to the pattern of column: square columns are commonly based on a foundation with square top and cylindrical column uses generally a foundation with drum top. This research indicates that the aesthetics of traditional dwellings in eastern Hubei Province are mainly reflected in the natural beauty and sense of form.

Semi traditional to early commercial agriculture system of Nepal has now its economic move in transition from agricultural to early industrial track of economic development. An attempt has been made to assess the relationship between the emerging modern agriculture practices and environmental depletion. Some of the developmental challenges of Nepal like small land holdings, weather dependent farming systems, low per capita income, underdeveloped physical infrastructures and inefficient bureaucratic procedures are associated with comparatively higher cost of agricultural production. Natural disasters and human induced environmental degradation are closely associated with improved farming systems. Nepal has preferential ways of producing niche agricultural products by exploiting its inherent diversified climate to cope with the global open market challenges. Competitive agribusinesses along with the adoption of environmental protection measures keeping the strategy of import substitution and export promotion are the ways for sustainable agriculture development in the country.  Key Words: Competitive agri-business, development infrastructures, environmental depletion, open-global market, sustainable developmentThe Journal of Agriculture and Environment Vol:.9, Jun.2008  Page: 41-45

The growing problems of the rural ecological environment in China have seriously affected the construction of harmonious society and new socialist countryside, and they have also impeded the implementation of strategic objectives such as the modern agriculture development. This paper sketches out the current situation of China in rural ecological environment security, including cultivated land of rural area, water resource environment, air quality, rural people’s living environment and biological diversity, these problems existing in agricultural industry, rural people’s living environment, and external pollution. And it provides reference for protecting and improving the rural ecological environment, promoting the construction of ecological civilization and boosting the sustainable development of the rural agricultural economy.

Internet of Things (IoT) is playing a more and more important role in modern agriculture development. However, problems of efficient storing and reasoning those massive heterogeneous sensor data collected from variety kinds of sensing equipment need to be resolved to implement Internet of Things in agriculture. This paper explores the architecture of Internet of Things in agriculture with heterogeneous sensor data, and proposes a design of implementation to Internet of Things in agriculture based on cloud computing. The design is based on two-tier storage structure of HBase, which is a distributed database with high scalability. It access database using MapReduce model, a distributed programming framework. Hence, this design provides scalable storage, efficient data access, and eases other processing of sensor data.

Having been a subject mainly of north-south relations, biodiversity now is increasingly discussed in the context of northern agriculture. There is an increasing discursive dominance of the standpoint of molecular biology, materialising itself in research institutions and in the policy of the federal ministry of research. As a consequence the contradictions within industrial agriculture are accentuated: The access to genetic resources is increasingly monopolized, and farmers become more and more dependent on the high-tech products of the seed industry. Thereby traditional methods of conserving and developing biodiversity, which the seed industry has always built on, are devaluated. Furthermore the traditional alliance between agriculture and seed industry becomes fragile. This creates new possibilities for small farmers' associations to change societal relationships with nature in modern agriculture.
