“Genre” is a formal variable that describes the form of presentation or type of a news item. Some studies use the label “genre” when collecting the addressed social sphere of a news item, although we recommend using the variable “news section” for this purpose. Field of application/theoretical foundation: The variable can be used for content analyses of print, broadcast or online media. It is an important part of a codebook, as it provides important context information of the analyzed news item. Also, it helps to categorize other (latent) variables. References/combination with other methods of data collection: Sometimes the variable can be accessed through common databases like Factiva or LexisNexis. The variable can be easily combined with any other type of variable collected through automated or manual content analysis. Sample operationalization: Medium Operationalization Unit of analysis Studies Holistic Informationsbeitrag Interpretationsbeitrag Meinungsbeitrag Ratgeberbeitrag Community-Beitrag Interview News item Eisenegger, M., Oehmer, F., Udris, L., Vogler, D. Journalism studies beyond institutional journalism Journalism studies beyond institutional journalism Journalism studies and education is growing rapidly around the world, at a time when the audience for news seems to be disappearing. Yet most of the scholarly work on journalism keeps a rather narrowly defined institutional focus on the news as an industry. In this essay an argument is made for a journalism studies that goes beyond this kind of journalism.

This article examines linguistic framing of Medellin as the city of the musical genre reggaeton in online media discourse, drawing on Fillmore’s frame semantics theory (1977). The most salient frames applied towards Medellin are those of centrality, home, and music, whereby the city’s global significance as a musical hub is emphasized through the terms belonging to the frame of world. The use of components from the frames of crime and drugs suggests that the drug-related past of Medellin is integrated into its new cultural profile. Another part of the new Medellin brand are the city’s residents themselves, who are credited with supporting local reggaetonero/as, and are typically referred to with overtly positive vocabulary from the frames of love, help, and home. Although some texts evoke negative stereotypes about reggaeton, the media mostly present the Medellin reggaeton scene through the frames of success, power, and business.

The world in one hand, now is no longer just an advertising tagline. It really has become a reality, when the gadget in our hands is able to present all the information needs of the entire world. Not just information, various entertainment can also be found in gadgets. From movies, music, drama series, talk shows, comedy, and various shows owned by influencers or YouTubers that are entertainment. And special, the audience in gadgets only watch the shows they like. There's no way they would waste their quota to watch a program they don't like. The question is, did television audiences still have an audience in such an era? As we all know, television viewers cannot just watch what they like, because in the program they are watching, it is likely that other programs that they dislike (such as advertisements) are tucked away. This paper tries to reveal, is it true that online media can replace conventional media? Or is it true that conventional media has been abandoned by the audience? The results of this study revealed that not all viewers left conventional media. Similarly, not all programs can be enjoyed online. Keywords: Conventional Media; Online Media; The audience.

The thought of breath grips the world as climate change, racial injustice and a global pandemic converge to suck oxygen, the lifeforce, out of the earth. The visibility of breath, its critical significance to existence, I argue, is made evident by poets. To speak of breath is to lodge ourselves between birth and death and requires sustained, meditative, attentive study to an everyday yet taken for granted practice. Like breathing, reading is also a practice that many took for granted until the pandemic. My paper will engage the affective and/or poetic dimensions of reading left out of theories of literacy that render it instrumental and divorced from the life of the reader (Freire, 1978). I will suggest that scholars of literacy, in every language, begin to engage a poetics of literacy as attending to the existential significance of language in carrying our personhood and lives. I will also argue that our diminishing capacities to read imaginatively and creatively have led to the rise of populist ideologies that infect public discourse and an increasingly anti-intellectual and depressed social sphere. Despite this decline in the practice and teaching of reading, it is reported that more than any other activity, reading sustained the lives of individuals and communities’ during a global pandemic. Teachers and scholars might take advantage of the renewed interested in reading to redeliver poetry and literary language to the public sphere to teach affective reading. Poetry harkens back to ancient practices of reading inherent in all traditions of reading. It enacts a pedagogy of breath, I argue, one that observes its significance in our capacity to exist through the exchange of air in words, an exchange of vital textual meanings we have taken for granted as we continue to infect our social and political world and earth with social hatred, toxins, and death. In this paper I engage fragments of poetry by poets of our time (last century onward) that teaches us to breathe and relearn the divine and primal stance that reading poetry attends to and demands. More than any other form, “poetry,” Ada Limon claims, “has breath built into it”. As such, reading poetry helps us to breathe when the world bears down and makes it hard for us to come up for air.

ABSTRACTThrough education it is possible to build a fairer and democratic society, strengthening the overcoming of social inequalities. The higher education institutions can contemporary contribute to the internationalization of education proces-ses, observing the existing demand in other countries. The aim of this paper is to present the possibilities of a private insti-tution of higher education located in Maringa - Parana - Brazil, by offering graduate courses in the distance geographically dispersed students around the world who speak the Portuguese language. The presented model enable students to attend classes, participate in activities that take place throughout the course and come to Brazil only once, at the end of the whole process, to realize tests and present an article. From the perspective of the strategies aiming internationalization, the techno-logical expansion is considered one of the most important tools to allow the globalization of education. The use of the Inter-net in distance learning, allows the development of learning communities in higher education, that is, the formation of networks. The theoretical foundation of this study is based on Green (2008), Levy (1996, 1999), Castells (2007), Sen (2000).RESUMOPor meio da educação é possível construir uma sociedade mais justa e democrática, fortalecendo a superação das desigualdades sociais.

Entrepreneurial ecosystems are emerging around the world, and their relevance in business and management is increasing. Practitioners and researchers are using biological metaphors to understand collaborative aspects of entrepreneurial ecosystems. This thesis explores the use of bio-ecological metaphors to study interactions and interrelations taking place in entrepreneurial ecosystems. Specifically, it examines the characteristics of an ecosystem that influence interactions and interrelations within ecosystems. This thesis is part of a qualitative ethnographic research that employs an inductive approach to data analyses. It studies a New Zealand based ecosystem and presents findings on three characteristics that influence interactions and interrelations in ecosystems: interdependence, diversity, and organizational birth and death cycles. In doing so, this thesis makes a number of contributions to management theory and practice. Firstly, it combines aspects of organizational ecology and open-systems theory to develop an ecosystem-level unit of analysis. By using an ecosystem lens, researchers can better observe collaborative aspects of organizations. Secondly, findings suggest that increasing the degree of interdependency and diversity and facilitating organizational birth and death cycles can enhance levels of interaction and interrelations in ecosystems. This implies that more skills, knowledge, ideas, resources, and different forms of support can be exchanged within ecosystems. Such exchange can enrich ecosystems.

Abstract • Background: The aim of the study was to carry out comparative evaluation of the books used in Poland for teaching neurosurgery to undergraduates, and find the most valuable one. Comparative textbook evaluation has not been of great scientific interest in the country yet. • Methods: Based on the textbook functions theory and textbook evaluation forms created by other researchers, an entirely new textbook evaluation tool was created. The form checks if the desired functions are performed in a textbook. The tool was used to evaluate the books selected for the study. Altogether, there were 9 neurosurgery books and 3 reference books of different fields. Then, the study results were compared with the list of the books found valuable by several neurosurgery-teaching institutions in the world. • Results: It turned out that the best textbook amongst the studied ones was ‘Handbook of Neurosurgery’ by Greenberg. Schirmer’s ‘Neurochirurgie’ came second. ‘Zarys Neurochirurgii’ by Ząbek, which was the third best book, proved to be the most valuable textbook amongst the ones written by Polish authors. • Conclusions: Although Greenberg’s book scored the highest in the evaluation process and is the textbook that institutions choose and recommend the most often, there is still a lot to be done in order to make it serve all the desired textbook functions well. If the Polish neurosurgery textbooks were re-issued and modernised, they could compete with the most valued foreign books.
