The aim of the article is to assess the financial situation of companies in the clothing and footwear sector listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2017. Firstly, financial ratios were calculated for each entity, the ranking was created and the companies were grouped in terms of their financial situation. In this way, a general picture of the competitive position of companies was obtained. The first group includes three companies with the best financial standing. They obtained the highest efficiency in the use of assets, as evidenced by the highest average values for the following stimulants: total assets turnover, current assets turnover and return on assets. Due to the fact that knowledge of financial ratios in the changing environment may be insufficient to assess the financial standing of enterprises, the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) with their components was calculated for them, which allowed judging the assessment of the structure of financing the operations of individual companies and the comparison with the financial situation determined on the basis of indicators. The best financing structure for their activities is held by companies that have been classified in high positions in a ranking based on financial indicators. However, there was one exception, which confirms the need to use different methods to assess the financial situation.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the variable Current Ratio, Total Debt to Total Assets, Total Assets Turnover, Return on Assets, on earnings persistence. This study used secondary data, namely the annual financial statements of automotive companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2014-2018. The sample selection used a purposive sampling method. The data source is the financial ratios of automotive companies listed on the IDX. Methods of data analysis used the classic assumption test, multiple linear regression, T-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The results showed that partial earnings persistence expressed in financial ratios consisting of the Return on Assets (ROA) significantly affect earnings persistence, while the Current Ratio (CR), Total Debt To Total Asset (TDTA) and Total Asset variables and Total Assets Turnover (TATO) has no significant effect on earnings persistence. Results of the simultaneous test, financial ratios consisting of CR, TDTA, TATO, and ROA had no significant effect on earnings persistence. R Square value of 0.076 can be interpreted that CR, TDTA, TATO, and ROA of 7.6% while the remaining 82.4% is influenced by other variables not examined

One of the goals of macroeconomic analysis is to rank and segment enterprises described by many financial indicators. The segmentation can be used for investment strategies or risk evaluation. The aim of this research was to distinguish groups of similar objects and visualize the results in a low dimensional space. In order to obtain clusters of similar objects, the authors applied a DEA BCC model and archetypal analysis for a set of companies described by financial indicators and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The authors showed that both methods give consistent results. To get a better insight into the data structure as well as a visualization of the similarities between objects, the authors used a new approach called the PHATE algorithm. It allowed the results of DEA and archetypal analysis to be visualized in a low dimensional space.

The financial situation of an organization can be defined as a multidimensional economic category that characterizes, by means of a set of indicators, the placement, ownership and use of financial resources, as well as their sufficiency at each point in time. In connection with this, it can be stated that an assessment of the financial condition of an economic entity allows to conclude that there is an effective management of resources and financial indicators in the period under study. This article reveals the shortcomings associated with the assessment of the financial condition of the organization by calculating relative indicators (financial ratios). The article proposes a model for assessing the financial condition of the organization, based on the standard ordering of the growth rates of the four groups of financial ratios. At the first stage of the study, a reference matrix of the rates of indicators change is built; at the second stage - the matrix of the actual rates of indicators change. At the final stage of the study, an integral indicator is formed, calculated on the basis of a comparison of the reference and actual matrices, allowing to assess the financial condition of the organization for a certain period of time.

Abstract Research background and purpose: The CAPM, Fama-French and modified Fama-French models were used to estimate the cost of the capital of the DJIA and selected Polish stock indexes were used. The estimated cost of capital was the cost of the portfolio of corporate investment projects estimated by market returns. Research methodology: The model tests were run on 276 monthly returns of stocks listed on the markets in the years 1995–2019. The bootstrap method to estimate the confidence interval of the cost of capital was used. Results: The highest and positive cost of capital median was found for the DJIA index, about 0.85% monthly, and for the WIG20 and WIGDIV indexes, about 0.25% monthly. The cost of capital median for the mWIG80, WIGBANK and WIGCHEMIA indexes were found to be negative. This was due to large errors in the estimated cost of capital. Novelty: Minor errors in the estimation of the cost of capital of index DJIA may result from a more rational policy for the implementation of investment projects by companies included in the index.
