The most important Entity to be considered in Image Compression methods are Paek to signal noise ratio and Compression ratio. These two parameters are considered to judge the quality of any Image.and they a play vital role in any Image processing applications. Biomedical domain is one of the critical areas where more image datasets are involved for analysis and biomedical image compression is very, much essential. Basically, compression techniques are classified into lossless and lossy. As the name indicates, in the lossless technique the image is compressed without any loss of data. But in the lossy, some information may loss. Here both lossy & lossless techniques for an image compression are used. In this research different compression approaches of these two categories are discussed and brain images for compression techniques are highlighted. Both lossy and lossless techniques are implemented by studying it’s advantages and disadvantages. For this research two important quality parameters i.e. CR & PSNR are calculated. Here existing techniques DCT, DFT, DWT & Fractal are implemented and introduced new techniques i.e Oscillation Concept method, BTC-SPIHT & Hybrid technique using adaptive threshold & Quasi Fractal Algorithm.

The Image compression is the most important entity in various fields. Image compression plays vital role in many applications. Out of which biomedical is one of the challenging applications. In medical research, everyday there is fast development and advancement. Medical researchers are thinking about digital storage of data hence medical image compression has a crucial role in hospitals. Here Morphological filter & adaptive threshold are used for refinement and used Quasi Fractal & Oscillation concept for developing new hybrid algorithm. Oscillation concept is lossy image compression technique hence applied on Non-ROI. Quasi fractal is lossless image compression technique applied on ROI. The experimental results shows that better CR with acceptable PSNR has been achieved using hybrid technique based on Morphological band pass filter and Adaptive thresholding for ROI. Here, innovative hybrid technique gives the CR 24.61 which improves a lot than hybrid method using BTC-SPIHT is 5.65. Especially PSNR is also retained and bit improved i.e. 33.51. This hybrid technique gives better quality of an image.

The survey of brain and medical image compression methods. Reduce the size of image as image compression. Necessity and importance of compression of an image has been discussed.  Application of the lossy compression technique is multimedia data. Various compression approaches are discussed for two categories. Also brain image compression techniques are highlighted, in addition with, quantitative comparisons between different compression methods. Also advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed.

Mikrobiologi uji kualitas produk kedelai utama diarahkan pada kehadiran Saccharomyces cerevisiae ragi (S. cerevisiae), S. Bailli, S. rouxii dankontaminan bakteri seperti Bacillus dan Deinococcus. Jenis ragi dan bakteri yang terlibat dalam proses dan dapat menjadi salah satu parameter kualitas penting dalam persiapan yang dihasilkan. Jumlah dan viabilitas bakteri dan ragi menjadi parameter utama dalam proses persiapan bahan uji. Jumlah tersebut adalah jumlah minimum yang berlaku dapat dianalisis. Jumlah ini harus dibawah 10 CFU diperlukan untuk menunjukkan tingkat hygienitas proses dan tingkat minimal kontaminasi. Viabilitas bakteri dan bahan tes ragi persiapan untuk tes kemahiran kecap yang diawetkan dengan L-pengeringan adalah teknik Deinococcus radiodurans (D. radiodurans) 16 tahun, 58 tahun S. cerevisiae, dan S. roxii 13 tahun. kata kunci: Viabilitas, Deinococcus, khamir, L-pengeringan, Proficiency AbstractProficiency test is one of the important activities in quality control and quality assurance microbiology laboratory for measuring the competence of analysts and analysis Proficiency test requires a model microorganism preparations are standardized quality and validity. Microbiological test of the quality of the main soy products aimed at thepresence of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae), S. bailli, S. rouxii and bacterial contaminants such as Bacillus and Deinococcus. Types of yeasts and bacteria involved in the process and can be one of the important quality parameters in the preparation produced. The number and viability of bacteria and yeasts become themain parameters in the process of test preparation materials. The amount in question is the minimum number that is valid can be analyzed. This amount must be below 10 CFU required to indicate the level of hygienitas process and the minimum level of contamination. This review has several objectives: To describe and discuss theoretical conceptions of the construct of socioeconomic status (SES) and to argue for its vital role in psychological research; to present and analyze procedures employed to measure SES and trends in their utilization; and to review and discuss the use of SES measures in Brazilian psychological literature. The relative position of individuals, families, and groups in a given hierarchy (frequently converted into a score produced by a scale) is what has usually been called SES. The main indicators and procedures used to measure SES are discussed in regard to its advantages and disadvantages. A review of the literature offers evidence of the importance of the SES in different psychological processes. A systematic evaluation of articles from the PsycARTICLES database was conducted and revealed that the percentage of articles published annually that employed socioeconomic status increased steadily and substantially from 1988 through 2000 and that SES has been consistently applied more in some research areas (e.g., developmental, clinical, social psychology). A content analysis of the use of SES in articles published from 1981 through 2001 in three prominent Brazilian psychology journals was conducted showing that reliable SES measures are not commonly used in the Brazilian psychological literature. The results of these reviews and analyses are discussed in terms of their implications for further progress of psychological literature, especially in Brazil, with regard SES.

U-Learning environments collects context information relative to user's preferences and needs, but this information is typically very volatile. For this reason, Quality of Context is aimed at treating this information by applying quality parameters. This chapter aims to help the reader understand how the quality of context information can be treated in U-Learning environments, which are the main theoretical bases, technologies that support them and what are the methods, advantages and disadvantages related to this approach. In addition, specific cases of development and application of technologies and strategies involving Quality of Context are presented to illustrate all the concepts described. The results of usability testing related to the SUS questionnaire showed that the developed environment described in the case of study operated satisfactorily, based on the assessments made by the group of users who tested the modules and their operation.

<p>Present emerging trend in space science applications is to explore and utilize the deep space. Image coding in deep space communications play vital role in deep space missions. Lossless image compression has been recommended for space science exploration missions to retain the quality of image. On-board memory and bandwidth requirement is reduced by image compression. Programmable logic like field programmable gate array (FPGA) offers an attractive solution for performance and flexibility required by real time image compression algorithms. The powerful feature of FPGA is parallel processing which allows the data to process quicker than microprocessor implementation. This paper elaborates on implementing low complexity lossless image compression algorithm coder on FPGA with minimum utilization of onboard resources for deep space applications.</p>

Abstract Aquaculture farms play a vital role for food security in Japan. The cultivation potential is directly related to the quality of the marine environment. Water quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen and temperature need to be measured and monitored regularly throughout the cultivation period. Energy efficiency and ease of navigation are the prime requirements for environmental survey vessels. In this paper, a new and novel automated vessel is introduced and design methodology is explained. Multi-hull innovative vessel is named as ‘Quadmaran’ and developed particularly for carrying out environmental surveys. The vessel consists of four hulls each capable of rotating independently thereby leading to better sailing performance and excellent stability. It is equipped with devices to measure quality parameters at various water depths and includes a dynamic positioning system aiding for the environment data collection. The basic design criteria of the Quadmaran is derived and understood in this study. Scaled model (1/3 scale) is fabricated for tank tests and resistance tests are carried out in a circulating water tank at Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka, Japan. With the knowledge gained from tank tests, multi-hull phenomenon of the Quadmaran is studied and interaction between the hulls is investigated. It is found that wave interference due to hull orientation becomes significant for Froude number greater than 0.5 and resistance of Quadmaran is found to be less than two times the twin hull resistance for same water draft. Further, an attempt is made to understand how the configuration arrangement affects the resistance of the vessel.

Abstract Background and study aims Post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC) is an important quality parameter of colonoscopy. Most studies have shown that the risk for colorectal cancer is reduced after an index colonoscopy for screening or diagnostic purposes with or without polypectomy. In this study, we aimed to quantify and describe PCCRC in Belgium, including the possible relationships with patient, physician, and colonoscopy characteristics. Patients and methods Reimbursement data on colorectal related medical procedures from the Intermutualistic Agency (IMA-AIM) were linked with data on clinical and pathological staging of colorectal cancer (CRC) available at the Belgian Cancer Registry (BCR) over a period covering 9 years (2002 – 2010). Results In total, 63 518 colorectal cancers were identified in 61 616 patients between 2002 and 2010. We calculated a mean PCCRC rate of 7.6 %. PCCRC was significantly higher in older people and correlated significantly with polyp detection rate and the number of resections and procedures performed per year per physician. Conditional observed survival, given still alive 3 years since first colonoscopy, for PCCRC was worse than for CRC. Older patients and patients with invasive carcinomas had a worse outcome. Conclusions Although no quality register exists in Belgium, we were able to demonstrate that PCCRC in Belgium is directly related to the experience of the physician performing the procedure. In the absence of a quality register, utilization of population-based data sources proved to be a valuable tool to identify quality parameters.

Early work established that carcasses of deer, compared with other species, were leaner, yielded a greater proportion of ‘first class meat’, that venison had a beneficial fatty acid composition and was dark in colour (Blaxter et al., 1974). More recently, Fisher et al. (1998) and Stevenson-Barry (2000) have reviewed and identified potential important ‘quality’ parameters for venison. From these, the UK deer industry needs to identify a suite of measurements to define ‘quality’, to improve on the current subjective assessments of carcasses in commercial abattoirs and to help guide future production systems. The aim of this study was to identify suitable quality measurements to characterize UK venison.

Purpose The present work is a systematic study to understand the cause of poor quality of sliver, roving and yarn due to defective sliver storage can-spring at finisher drawframe machine in spinning preparatory. This study aims to investigate the influence of can-spring stiffness factor, sliver deposition rate and sliver coils position on yarn unevenness and thin places considering two cases of sliver storage time. Design/methodology/approach Combed ring spun yarn samples were produced by varying finisher drawframe variables, which were can-spring stiffness, delivery speed and sliver coils position in storage can. For research design, three-factor three levels of Box-Behnken experimental design was adopted. To investigate the effect of sliver storage time on combed yarn unevenness and thin places, yarn samples were produced at 8 h sliver storage time and without allowing any storage time. Sliver storage time is the time for which combed drawn sliver kept idle in storage cans before feeding to speedframe machine. The 8 h sliver storage time was considered for present study after consulting industrial experts. Adequate numbers of the samples were tested for yarn quality parameters such as yarn unevenness and thin places 50 per cent/km on standard instruments. Finally, the test results were analyzed using statistical software to check the statistical significance of all the independent variables on observed response through analysis of variance. Findings The experimental results showed that the yarn samples produced from older can-springs and bottom position sliver coils stored at 8 h storage time were showing higher yarn unevenness and thin places compared to other yarn samples. The results also showed that the effect of delivery speed is not significant on yarn unevenness for samples produced without allowing any sliver storage time. Research limitations/implications The present study is an outcome of a practical problem experienced at the finisher drawframe machine in a spinning industry. For this purpose, only scrutinized finisher drawframe variables were considered for the evaluation. There are many equally important other factors, which were not considered due to research work feasibility. Social implications This paper investigates the effect of some imperative factors at the finisher drawframe stage on combed yarn quality. The present study will boost existing knowledge of the spinner’s community regarding the effect of can-spring stiffness, sliver coils position and storage time on resultant combed yarn quality parameters. Originality/value The work is original and only a few references are available. The study reveals that storage can-spring stiffness should be chosen carefully for better sliver handling. It is observed that finisher drawframe can-spring stiffness, sliver storage time and sliver coils position play a vital role in deciding quality characteristics of stored sliver and ultimately affect yarn quality.
