Background. The article identifies the stylistic principles of composer’s thinking of A. Lourié on the basis of the “Cinq preludes fragiles” for piano op. 1. The musical science works of recent years, which include the articles by M. Gorodilova, L. Sitsky and D. Gojowy, deal with the problem of repressed Russian avant-garde. Objective. The purpose of the research is to reveal the specifics of individual composer style of A. Lourié on the basis of the “Cinq preludes fragiles” for piano op. 1. Methods. Achieving the goal of the research involves using the following methods: stylistic approach, genre approach and compositional approach. Results and Discussion. Exposition of the main material of the study includes the compositional, dramaturgical and stylistic analysis of the cycle, which is recognized as the first piece by A. Lourié. The analysis of the intonational dramaturgy of the cycle by A. Lourié is a necessary stage in the theoretical understanding of the composer’s artistic thinking and the stylistic features of his heritage. Prelude No. 1 (Lento, es-moll) is a kind of introduction to the holistic “plot” of the cycle, as it represents the world of the lyric hero. It can be assumed that this is the image of the Poet, which is characteristic of the romantic tradition. Prelude No. 2 (Calme, pas vite, es-moll) is also lyrical in nature, with a touch of melancholy, but more active and strong-willed. Prelude No. 3 (Tendre, pensif, B-dur) is the lyric center of the cycle. This is a musical pastoral. In this prelude, various psychological modes are combined: the union of man and nature (contemplation), the thoughts of a man alone with himself (reflection), an internal conversation with the creator (prayer). Prelude No. 4 (Affabile, F-dur) is recognized as a bright intermezzo. The miniature is imbued with states of exultation, delight, joy of being. The general mood of the prelude is supported by the author’s remark “joyeux, capricieusement” (“fun, capriciously”) and corresponds to the intermezzo compositional function. The character of Prelude No. 5 (Modéré, gis-moll) is melancholic and detached. This miniature is very close to the Prelude No. 1, with which it creates an arch of images of the dialectic of the protagonist’s soul. It seems that the hero had lost his life goals again. The dramaturgical author’s intention is realized as follows: Preludes No. 1 and No. 2 represent a double exposure, which reveals the figurative dichotomy of «melancholia – activity» as two hypostases of a lyrical hero; Prelude No. 3 shows the picture of nature and a man’s attitude to it; Prelude No. 4 is the bright culmination of the image of a dream; in Prelude No. 5, a lyrical hero returns to reality. The results of the research support the idea that the main features of A. Lourié’s individual compositional style are the semantics of “fragility”, the principle of thematic concentration and miniaturism of intellection. The semantics of “fragility” is manifested in the poetic aura of the symbolism of the “silver age”, which represented an idea of beauty as the ultimate, vanishing state. The principle of thematic concentration is manifested in the saturation of events in a unit of musical time. The miniaturism of thinking is the ability to model and reflect global ideas of human life in the performing process in a chamber chronotope. Conclusion. In the article the unity of the content and form-building levels of the cycle “Cinq preludes fragiles” for piano op. 1 is revealed. The refraction of the romantic tradition of interpreting the piano in the works of A. Lourié was studied. The role of the miniature genre in the context of the composer’s piano heritage is described. The specificity of metro-rhythm, harmonic and intonational semantics of A. Lourié’s piano works is revealed. The prospects for further researches include the necessity of in-depth study of composer heritage of A. Lourié.

The article considers a set of problems related to the study of piano art of the early XXth century and, in particular, the piano work of Mykola Roslavets. It provides the characteristic of the main vectors of piano miniature development, its genre and construction diversity. It emphasizes the composers' creative search in the early XXth century, the desire to embody new, not yet tested compositional techniques. The article notes the influence of traditional and avant-garde trends on the compositional style of that time and their synthesis in a single author's style. It describes five preludes for piano by Mykola Roslavets as one of the most significant achievements of the mature period of the artist's work, which fully reveals the key features of the composer's sense and desire for syntheticity and a new, intellectual, system of sound organization. The five preludes are stated to not have an accidental cycle structure reflecting the influence of many styles and compositional techniques, accumulating the achievements of previous musical epochs and sprouts of the latest, quite important musical trends in piano music. The author notes undoubted influence of Mykola Roslavets' work on the further development of musical art, its relevance and modernity. The proposed analysis should contribute to a more complete understanding of the history of piano music of the first third of the XXth century, elucidate the origins of innovative composers, undeservedly overlooked by musicologists, performers and listeners, and replenish the performing repertoire with piano works by Mykola Roslavets.

This article is devoted to the comparative description of two string concerts by Sergei Mikhailovich Slonimsky (1932–2020): the violin "Concerto Primaverile" (1983), focused on the Romantic style of the XIXth century, and the viola "Tragicomedy" (2005), related to the avant-garde line of the composer's work. Each of the opuses embodies different types of programmaticity: a generalized one in "Concerto Primaverile" for violin and string orchestra, and more concretized one in the concert on "Crime and Punishment" by F. Dostoevsky for viola and chamber orchestra. Thus, Slonimsky also turned to both types of programmaticity in solo compositions for these instruments, for example, figurative specificity becomes the main characteristic in the dramaturgy of the final piece for violin "Legend" (based on the novel by I. Turgenev). On the contrary, the Viola Sonata and Variations for a solo instrument rather address a generalized compositional approach. Comparison of the two concert scores follows the lines of their stylistic difference: programmaticity, specificity of dramaturgy and technical implementation, and in particular problems such as complex melodic figuration, contrapuntal saturation of homophonic monodic texture, the role of micropolyphony, the introduction of third and quarter tones and other non-standard principles of sound production.

The subject of this article is the role of mas in art culture of the Silver Age as a peculiar era of the “Russian Renaissance”. The term was introduced by N. A. Berdyaev and is present in a number of hisp philosophical writings. The object of this research is the Silber Age, perceived by the author as a somewhat mythological concept. Within the history of Russian culture “Golden Age” is attributed to the time of Pushkin, while “Silver Age” is a period of the bloom of modernism at the turn of XIX-XX centuries, when creative revival coincided in the visual and scenic arts, literature, music, science, and social life. The goal of this work consists in the analysis of dynamics and interconnection between artistic pursuits of the era of Russian modernism and the role of mask in this process The research results testify to the fact that in the Silver Age art prevails the cult of mask as a so-called challenge, protest against reality, which defined its special role in the works of painters, theatrical designers, symbolist poets, avant-garde filmmakers, whose experiments were aimed at determination of the new forms of relationships between art and the public. The relevance of study is substantiated by “interchange” of eras: new trends in development of sociocultural sphere of turn of XX-XXI centuries, when mask came into the people’s everyday life, and the image (persona) becomes an intrinsic part of communication process.

: This paper entitled “Role of Nature in Michelle Cohen Corasanti’s The Almond Tree” represents the relationship man has with nature and vice versa. It also explains that though The Almond Tree is a war novel, Corosanti brings in the tint of nature here and there in the novel. It also talks about certain ways through which nature can be retained and the double destruction on nature due to the man-made causes. The obliteration caused to man and to nature by war has been portrayed in this paper. It is the duty of every human being to look after the well being of nature. When one put in the effort to protect the nature, it naturally attracts others to protect the nature. Unless protecting the nature, it is the future generation which suffers the most than the present generation. In short, this paper stresses on the necessity of protecting the nature. God, the creator of the whole world, creates nature as well as man. He then delivers the nature in the hands of man with a hope that man gives priority to protect his creation. Nature is a mother, nurturer, doctor, teacher and entertainer. It is filled with adventures, amusements, beauty and sometimes even danger. There is a balance within the ecosystem to enjoy the benefits of mutual co-existence. When this balance is maintained, there blooms peace and happiness. But if any one of it tries to dominate, there would be great tragedy. Nature is a best healer in every situations of human life. Though selfishness leads the man to destroy the nature, there are few people who are able to understand the importance of nature. There is a deep relationship between the man and nature. So, it is necessary to look at the relationship between the nature and the man in Corasanti’s The Almond Tree.

Rivers and the construction of identity The collection of youth memories “Met ’n eie siekspens” (Engela van Rooyen) and the novel “Manaka: plek van die horings” (Pieter Pieterse) complement each other as literary embodiments of the phenomenon that human life and identity are influenced by an aspect of the characters’ natural environment, namely the river. This article focuses on the nature and extent of the influence of rivers on the development of identity in characters in these two works. In “Met ’n eie siekspens” the formative role of the Orange River is connected with a complex relationship between man and river in which elements of devotion collide with those of enslavement. The values taught by the river and its surroundings are core components of the characters’ identities. In “Manaka: plek van die horings”, the main character’s dream of a life on the Zambezi is part of his identity, in that it embodies selfrealisation and has directed his thinking and self-image since childhood. The river and its surroundings, however, later on also play an important role in the re-interpretation of his life goal and the acquisition of a wider understanding of his true identity. This investigation underlines the importance of research into the portrayal of the relationship between man and nature within the broader field of study in which the portrayal of matters of identity in Afrikaans literature is investigated.

The article examines violin works by Nikolay Karlovich Medtner in the context of creative collaboration with his wife A. N. Medtner and his elder brother, violinist and conductor A. K. Medtner, who repeatedly made orchestral arrangements of piano works by Nikolay Karlovich. General and specific features of each of the five opuses are characterized: Three Nocturnes op. 16, Two Canzones op. 43 and Sonatas op. 21, 44 and 57. The leading role of the theme, the originality of rhythm, combining the static nature of ostinato episodes with improvisation are emphasized. The scale of the concept and the philosophical depth of violin works also determined new conceptual possibilities, which were revealed in the interpretation of forms, genre orientation and figurative content. The study of Medtner's creativity allows to expand the knowledge about the Silver Age violin art through a new search for eternal cultural values.

The scientific problem of economics “Managing the quality of human life” is formulated on the basis of artificial intelligence, algebra of logic and logical-probabilistic calculus. Managing the quality of human life is represented by managing the processes of his treatment, training and decision making. Events in these processes and the corresponding logical variables relate to the behavior of a person, other persons and infrastructure. The processes of the quality of human life are modeled, analyzed and managed with the participation of the person himself. Scenarios and structural, logical and probabilistic models of managing the quality of human life are given. Special software for quality management is described. The relationship of human quality of life and the digital economy is examined. We consider the role of public opinion in the management of the “bottom” based on the synthesis of many studies on the management of the economics and the state. The bottom management is also feedback from the top management.

Human beings are deeply related to land. Human beings take birth on land, live on land, die on land and mixes with land ultimately. As stated in the holy Quran: ‘We (Allah) created you (human beings) from the soil, we shall make you return to the soil and We shall call you back again from the soil’ (20:55). Human life is surrounded by soil i.e. land. So, land is a highly completed issue of human life involving economic, social, political, cultural and often religious systems. Land administration is thus a critical element and often a pre-condition for peaceful society and sustainable development. In administrating land, Khatian or record of rights plays a vital role to determine the rights and interests of the respective parties as supportive evidence. In this article, discussion is mainly made on the fact that Khatian or record of rights is not a document of title solely but it may be an evidence of title as well as possession.
