Dalam dunia fabrikasi, las tahanan (resistance welding/ spot welding) dibutuhkan dalam berbagai kegiatan penyambungan plat tipis yang umumnya mahal, sehingga untuk industri skala rumahan harganya tidak terjangkau (mahal). Untuk mendukung kegiatan industri rumahan tersebut perlu las titik skala kecil multi fungsi biaya murah dan compact, ringan dan bersifat portable (bisa dipindah sesuai kebutuhan). Rumusan masalah dalam perencanaan ini adalah “Bagaimana membuat mesin las titik multi fungsi untuk proses brazing dan soldering dengan daya 900 watts yang compact ?. Adapun tujuan dan manfaat perancanan mesin las ini adalah redesign dan memodifikasi model yang lebih compact dari mesin las titik dengan fungsi brazing dan soldering untuk industri rumahan portable, dan mesin ini dirancang mampu menyambung plat baja dengan ketebalan maksimum 1 mm dengan daya maksimum 900 watts. Metode yang digunakan adalah melakukan observasi kebutuhan/ design, perancangan mesin las titik multi fungsi dan menghasilkan produk yang memenuhi kebutuhan perancangan. Hasil perancangan dan modifikasi menunjukkan bentuk mesin yang lebih compact (dibanding hasil sebelumnya), dan mesin memerlukan daya 900 watts dengan pemasangan elektrode dilakukan dengan tangan sehingga mudah difungsikan sebagai soldering dan brazing.

Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) is assumed as an environment-friendly technique, suitable for the spot welding of several materials. Nevertheless, it is consensual that the temperature control during the process is not feasible, since the exact heat generation mechanisms are still unknown. In current work, the heat generation in FSSW of aluminium alloys, was assessed by producing bead-on-plate spot welds using pinless tools. Coated and uncoated tools, with varied diameters and rotational speeds, were tested. Heat treatable (AA2017, AA6082 and AA7075) and non-heat treatable (AA5083) aluminium alloys were welded to assess any possible influence of the base material properties on heat generation. A parametric analysis enabled to establish a relationship between the process parameters and the heat generation. It was found that for rotational speeds higher than 600 rpm, the main process parameter governing the heat generation is the tool diameter. For each tool diameter, a threshold in the welding temperature was identified, which is independent of the rotational speed and of the aluminium alloy being welded. It is demonstrated that, for aluminium alloys, the temperature in FSSW may be controlled using a suitable combination of rotational speed and tool dimensions. The temperature evolution with process parameters was modelled and the model predictions were found to fit satisfactorily the experimental results.

The resistance spot welding process represents the welding technology used to obtain assemblies trough welded spots characterized by adequate mechanical properties. This assembly process is used mainly into the automotive, petroleum and naval industries. It is applied due to the significant advantages concerning the technology and service properties of the obtained assembly. This paper purposes a study concerning the micro hardness change of an assembly made by resistance welding spot. The entire process of plastic deformations together with the solidification step developed in the presence of the heat generated during welding process determines the mechanical characteristics of the welded spot and, of course, of the assembly obtained. In such conditions, depending on the changes developed during the welding process, the micro hardness of the welded spot varies between the fusion area (FA) and heat affected zone (HAZ). In this way, the graphical representation of the micro hardness repartition gives clues about the weakness areas which don’t correspond to the requirements. As input factors, in this study, the values of current intensity, the electrical current time and the force pressure were considered. In order to solve the proposed problem and to graphically highlight the variation of the micro hardness obtained for welded points, it was used a classical welding device and a micro hardness device analyzer. The graphical representation shows that the micro-hardness and, as a consequence, some mechanical properties changes in the specified region and in the entire mass of the welded spot changes. In this way, the structure of welded spot is characterized by a variation of the hardness in the interest areas.
