Determination  of  comfort properties  of  knitted  underwear for  sports and  comparison  of traditional and innovative underwear for thermal underwear. Methodology.  The  article  provides  an  analysis  of  the  modern  range  of  textile  materials  for underwear, analyzes the latest developments in the design of thermal underwear. The modern methods have been used to determine clothing comfort and physical properties of textile materials. Experimental studies are based on the basic principles of textile materials science.

AbstractThe application of X-ray fluorescence to the qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemically modified cotton textile materials is described. The scope and flexibility of the technique have permitted the determination of more than 20 elements with, greatly reduced elapsed time compared with the corresponding spectroscopic or wet methods. Precautions to be observed in preparing standards are discussed. Results of the analysis of typical modifications and their significance in the development of cottons for specific uses are described.

Resistance of tear is an important characteristic of textile materials, especially for fabrics used for personal protective equipment. In this study, a constant force is applied to tear the fabric specimens to obtain the del-zone theoretically. The strain-stress curve for a single yarn is obtained from experiment, and the del-zone is determined by an ancient Chinese algorithm. This combination of ancient Chinese algorithm and actual tearing behavior of woven fabrics provides a noval analysis approach of tearing performance of textile product theoretically.

The object of research of the article is the methodological and technical support for the process of studying the characteristics of ergonomic properties of materials used in the manufacture of garments, and the subject – the method for the determination of textile materials’ air permeability. The aim of the work is to simplify the method for determination of fibrous materials’ air permeability and to expand the technological capabilities of its instrument base while increasing the flexibility of the control procedure. To achieve this goal, the tasks related to the analysis of existing methods and technical means, and the development of a new method for determining the air permeability of textile materials were solved. The principal difference in the developed method is the possibility to conduct studies on the air permeability of textile materials at different levels of pressure drop on both sides of the sample, and not only in accordance with the standardized requirements. An additional advantage of the method is the possibility to create an online electronic database on the properties of materials. In comparison with analogues, the proposed method for the determination of air permeability ensures the accuracy and reliability of the data obtained, as well as facilitates the testing process by automation.
