The purpose of this study has been to identify the degree of sustainability in the development of the Province of Warmia and Mazury. The theoretical and empirical investigations were conducted between 2003-2014 based on data from the Local Data Bank. Using a comparative indicator method, 20 indicators were developed, with different directions of preference. The evaluation involves the concept of uniform preference, hence the higher the assessment indicator, the better the situation in the evaluated area unit. Our studies on the sustainable development of the Province of Warmia and Mazury suggest that the indicators measuring the environmental dimension and consequently the quality of life of the residents (in this aspect) score higher than the country's average values. It is also optimistic that some progress, however small, can be seen in this area based on the analyzed dynamics of changes.

O desenvolvimento humano dos países se trata de um tema em destaque que exige ações governamentais para a melhoria da qualidade de vida de seus cidadãos. O problema de dimensionar este desenvolvimento frente às ações de governo determina o objetivo de analisar a existência de correlação entre os indicadores de governança dos países calculados pelo Banco Mundial (WGI) com o índice de desenvolvimento humano calculado pela Organização das nações Unidas (IDH). Para investigar essa hipótese foram efetuadas análises de correlação entre o IDH e as seis dimensões de governança do WGI. Os resultados da pesquisa confirmam a existência de significativa correlação positiva entre o IDH e o WGI, estabelecendo assim o entendimento da complementariedade destes indicadores, e a possibilidade de sua utilização no estabelecimento de ações governamentais.Palavras-chave: Governança dos países. Desenvolvimento sustentável.ABSTRACTThe human development level of the countries is a key issue that requires government actions to improve the quality of life of its citizens. The problem of dimensioning this development in relation to government actions determines the objective of analyzing the existence of a correlation between the indicators of governance of the countries calculated by the World Bank (WGI) and the human development index calculated by the United Nations (IDH). To investigate this hypothesis, correlation analyzes were performed between HDI and the six governance dimensions of WGI. The results of the research confirm the existence of a significant positive correlation between the HDI and the WGI, thus establishing the understanding of the complementarity of these indicators and the possibility of their use in the establishment of governmental actions.Keywords: Worldwide governance. Cities need continual improvements as they grow, and the government needs to create the means to meet this demand. To assist in sustainable development for communities, ISO 37120 was created to focus on cities, with indicators for urban services and quality of life. The paper presents the definition of quality of life and its relationship with sustainable development. The paper analyses and compares the indicators of quality of life in Lithuania with other countries. A quality of life is an explicit or implicit policy goal. Various measurements and indicators to evaluate a quality of life were proposed during the recent years however there are no widely accepted objective indicators of quality of life able to compare countries. Sustainable development concept proposes new approach to measure quality of life. Therefore the aim of sustainable development is to increase quality of life. Quality of life can be addressed in terms of people health, the state of economy, employment, infrastructure development, crime and environment. All these indicators are interrelated as economic development creates preconditions to maintain public health, develop social and technical infrastructure, to increase employment, to ensure quality of environment, to tackle with crime etc. From the other point of view healthy and satisfied with the quality of life nation have positive impact on stable economic growth.

Today’s environmental challenges have been determined and exacerbated by human behavior. It is imperative that education develops learning-settings that enable students to make their individual lifestyles more sustainable. The aim of this paper is to examine the effect of the research-education-collaboration ‘AustrIndia-4QOL’ (Teenagers from Austria and India Perform Research on Quality of Life) on the teenagers’ awareness of the importance of environmental aspects in regards to quality of life, and on their willingness to act towards more sustainable lifestyles. Therefore, the results from a collaboration via social media and from a collaboration with additional face-to-face workshops were analyzed. The question of whether an increased awareness or willingness to act is followed by a change of real action after the project was also investigated. The results indicate that conducting education for sustainable development requires long term educational engagement, and that unintended effects cannot be excluded.

This chapter aims to analyze the main factors of the production and consumption of organic products, as well as their policies and strategies. The analysis is based on the premise of the sustainable development of the production, distribution, and consumption systems of organic products that have the potential to improve the quality of life levels of producers, consumers, and society. The main focus of this research paper is to understand the use of IoT in healthcare to achieve sustainable development. This paper has used the descriptive method to collect the data for study. The research methodology is FAHP, which is a cross-sectional research survey in nature. After data collection, the agreed paired comparison matrices, which are then further allocated to the weighted criteria and then accordingly a priority for the IoT usage is judged. According to the findings of the research, it has been identified that “profit maximization” and “quality of life” were on the top for priority for IoT in the healthcare sector for sustainable development, although, three major areas were identified. Additionally, if we consider according to usage then it is mostly used by the health care sector as UV radiation, dental care, and fall detection.
